The first experience was great and I was very pleased with the service. However, I was not pleased with the most recent service. The salesperson explained how great their service was and how they don't subcontract any of the work The worker they sent could not speak any English and he had a very difficult time installing the window. We were not pleased and we had to hire someone else to do that work. Based on the most recent experience, I would get more references before using their services again.
Description of Work: We have used their services twice. The first time they replaced almost all of the windows in my home. More recently they installed one bathroom window. This window was difficult because it was small and had to fit perfectly back into the existing space.

The people who came to the house were the neatest workers I have ever used. They cleaned up well after each day of work. They were very conscientious. I was extremely pleased with the experience. I did look into other companies and I thought for what I got, they were the best value.

The service was great. We really like their windows and we have not had any problems. They explained there was some lead paint used and we should be very careful. They were quick and efficient. They came every morning first thing and completed the work in less than two days. My husband watched every move and he was very satisfied with the service. The price was expensive but reasonable compared to other companies my husband looked into.

I was very pleased with the service. They did a good job. It took them a few days to complete the work and they sent a crew each day. They subcontracted the installation work. Everything was done right on time and they did what they said. They did run into a problem but they resolved the issue quickly. The crew cleaned up well. Everything fit right and the process went very smoothly. We did shop around and we felt their price was very fair. We have more windows to replace and we definitely use their services again.

After six months, thirteen appointments at my home involving 13 separate Pella representatives, employees and sub-contractors I do have one replacement sliding glass door in my living room. Along the way, the wrong door was ordered, I was treated rudely and with incredible disrespect by one Pella employee, many of my telephone calls were not returned, my hardwood floor was damaged, three separate sets of trim were installed, it took two attempts to repair the damaged floor and the living room was in shambles during the entire Holiday Season. The project was completed on January 4, 2012.In my presence, Pella representatives engaged in heated conflicts with each other. Not one of the Pella representatives took ownership of the problem. In desperation, I brought in a highly respected local contractor to oversee the completion of the project.My finished project is acceptable but it is not what I had originally ordered.I sincerely hope that no other Pella customer ever endures a similar nightmare.
Description of Work: I have been a Pella customer since 1973. In early July, 2011, I contracted to purchase and have Pella install one replacement sliding glass door for my living room. I paid for the project, in full, that day.

Pella still has not called or emailed back to schedule service.
Description of Work: Beginning May 25, I contacted Pella Service by email through their website and by phone. The phone service is particularly annoying. On all 4 days that I called, I had to first wait on hold for many minutes before I was connected to an answering machine. I left requests for service on the website on 2 occasions, using both "contact us" screens provided. To date, June 3, 9 days after my first call, I have received no response of any kind, by email or by phone. This is not a new experience. Since 2004 we have been having difficulties getting service for our Pella windows and doors. The windows and doors themselves are lovely, but they require seasonal adjustments to the cranks that open and close them. After I call for service, it has taken weeks and sometimes months to get repairs. The roll-up screen door that opens to our deck is particularly fragile. Currently it is inoperable, but there appears to be no way to obtain service from Pella.Pella is a luxury brand and their products are attractive, but their responsiveness is extremely disappointing.

In August 2011, we contracted with Pella to install 20 windows and 2 sliding doors ($21,145.38). We utilized Pella solely because we were told (by A.J. Lomax) the new windows and doors would be the same form and function as our current units. The windows are as described, however while being installed in October, we indicated the doors are far different then assured; the doors are shorter than the opening will accept and the sliding portion / track is on the exterior of the home creating several unacceptable safety and security concerns: 1. The height of the doors are significantly shorter than our previous doors: The opening was large enough to accept the larger doors (6?-9 ½? H x 5?-11 ½?) yet the smaller version (6?-7 ½? x 5?-11 ½?) were installed and over caulked to fill the unused space. This difference in height +/- 2? is significant and causes an issue with anyone 6? in height. 2. Does not allow stick to be inserted in track to re-secure door 3. Does not allow our existing aftermarket lock to be re installed 4. Does not allow our security alarm contact points to be re installed. 5. Allows snow, ice, debris to collect in track preventing door from opening 6. Someone from exterior can lock occupants in 7. screen is on interior collecting insects,etc. at nightime on screen, in order to close door screen must be opened allowing insects in home. Immediately Tom Game from Pella scheduled and agreed to have doors fixed, Nov 23, 2011 it rained and installer cancelled, we rescheduled for early Dec. On Dec 7, 2011 We were contacted stating this is how the doors were. We immediately requested a rep as we did back in October to come out to our home. On 12/16/11 We reviewed all issues with A.J. Lomax (Pella Sales person) and he agreed and would "make it right" and have doors fixed. Several attempts to reschedule the fix were ignored however we were once again contacted by Gary Minor (Pella Sales Manager) on 1/31/12 stating this is how the doors were made. I contacted Pella Corporate and they stated larger doors could be installed in reverse, yet warranty would not be valid. Once again Gary Minor at Pella in Monroe delayed and finally responded on 2/27/12 stating the doors could not be reversed regardless of what I was told by Pella corporate and his 3 other colleges over the last 4 month. We hired Pella for a significant project ($21,145.38) and paid in full, we immediately indicated the doors were not acceptable because they were smaller (Pella rep measured openings himself) and do not clearly function as, ?exact replacements creating safety/security concerns (we had a break in, snow build up, etc.) Now Pella states doors cannot be reversed, therefore the only viable solution is to reimburse us $4,904.98 in order that we can replace the doors with another manufacturer, yet Pella refused to refund out money. refer to video on youtube.com,"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etmJDptVmY4 or search for "Pella, Monroe" Final letter we wrote to Pella: I?m writing to formally memorialize our conversation on 2/27/12. In addition, SEVERAL of your colleagues agreed with our concerns and made active arrangements to fix the condition, yet you still refuse to resolve the situation. I find it ridiculous that your office took four months to figure out whether the doors could be ?reversed?. In addition, I find it more appalling that you knew the doors were unacceptable (due to their function and size) from the beginning yet you refuse to refund our money. Having a formal education in the engineering / construction industry and actively working in the field for nearly twenty years you and your firms stance is nothing less than pathetic. Regardless of the number of doors you have installed and their energy efficiency, I have personal working relations with architects, other engineers, contractors, firefighters and police officers who all agree that our concerns are valid, yet you have insistently chosen to damage your personal reputation, your firms as well as the Pella name. It went well overall. It was expensive but I do not regret as it hs upgraded the look of my kitchen . Installer and his assistant took their time and were there from approx 8:30 to 2:00. He also helped me out on a lock problem on another door. I am haviing some issues with the rolling screen slider but the door is working fine.
Description of Work: I was replacing a standard sliding glass door (low grade) with a architectural style, blinds inside glass, door. Installer removed door- and offered to take it away or leave it with me (to sell, give away as nothing was truly wrong with it) I elected to have them take away. New door was installed including interior trim work and rolling screen slider. Installer showed me how to work blinds, lock and advised how to clean it.

It was a hazard. The problem was that it was supposed to be a one-day install. There was a roll screen. They subcontracted and said that they weren't going to as they had said that they had their own installers who were factory trained which was not true. The roll screen was not installed because their people did not know how to do it. They kept giving me the run around every time that I called. They finally sent someone to fix it. I would not use them again in the future no matter how good their product was. It would be very hard buying windows if you wanted good quality. I did a lot of research and they had good quality windows but they were extremely expensive. I got a discount but the labor brought it up a lot. So far, I have not had any complaints about their quality. A lot of the contractors would take your money, and then you would be at their beck and call, which was ridiculous.
Description of Work: I used Pella Windows And Doors a year ago. They installed a sliding glass door for me. They removed the existing sliding glass door and installed a new energy saving sliding glass door.

We had a salesman (who was terrific) come to our house and give us a price for 23 replacement windows, Imprevia, fiberglass. We agreed on a price of approximately $16800 and arranged (with the consent of the company) for a 25% deposit at the time the contract was signed, 25% when they were delivered, and the rest on completion of the job. About five days later, the superivsor of the job came to our house to check and see that everything was as should be. After walking from room to room, he got to the reason for his visit. He stated the industry standard was 50% down and the rest when the windows were delivered. They would give us leeway of maybe 10% before completion. We replied that we had a contract and that our salesman had checked with the office beforehand. The upshot was that we asked for our deposit back and wanted the contract abrogated (since they were breaking it anyway)! Later, Pella called us and told us they would go back to the original agreement but we wanted no part of this contractor. We stopped the check and had no further dealings with them.

The workers arrived on schedule (the original appointment had to be rescheduled due to rain on the original schedule date). They worked efficiently and answered all questions I had as they progressed. They put up a plastic shield around the work area in the house so no dust or debris got into the house. They worked without a break until the job was finished and completely cleaned up. I was very happy with the results

Overall, our experience was pretty good. The windows are great, but we did encounter a few glitches. We purchased both high and low end windows. The installation of the designer windows went great, but there was damage done to our walls when the lower end windows were installed. The walls above and below these less expensive windows had to be repainted. Also, we were up sold. However, our energy efficiency has increased greatly since the installation as evidenced by our heating bill.

The entire job went very well and I was pleased with the quality of the windows and doors. The installer was a subcontractor for Pella that specialized in window and door replacement. The installer was terrific and I have been very pleased with the quality of the installation. Subsequently, I had a few minor callback items. The Pella wholesaler was not very responsive. Initially met with Pella representative on October 20th. Measurements were taken. Another representative confirmed the measurements on the 21st. Confirmatin calls were made on November 15th and the 22nd. Installation was done on the 23rd.

Their estimate was twice as much as the quotes that I had received from others. The guy was pleasant to work with, but when I didn?t want to buy his product, he was a little rude. He was explaining to me about the new federal regulation regarding window replacement. He didn?t explain fully regarding certain regulations which would have added to the cost. I had to find out about these regulations by myself. He just added $180 per window; this was on top of the price he had already quoted. I think he was just taking advantage of the new legislation that was coming into effect. He wasn?t trying to give me a good price; he was just trying to take advantage of the situation. I ended up getting into an argument with him on the phone about this particular add-on cost in the quote. He started screaming at me. I was surprised at his behavior. I am not sure about his products or quality of work. I will not use his services again in the future.

It is extremely strange that someone would come back nine months later and report on an experience that was good but only complain about the price of "lead free installation". When originally quoted the customer was told and explained the entire process. Yes initially the cost was a bit high, but has since been adjusted to be competitive. As far as screaming at any customer,we at Pella are the consumate professionals at all times. If you call being passionate about your product as well as your companies reputation that we are. How would you feel if someone told you that your company was trying to rip people off? Ultimately the customer wanted our product but just couldn't afford it.
