Paul the owner came out to do the work. Paul spent a long time cleaning the family room chimney. It was never cleaned in the 5 years since the family room addition was constructed. It was a clean as a whistle after PAul was done. Paul wore booties and covered the vacuum to protect the interior of the home. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Paul's is a full service company and they can do chimney repair and restoration. I got a quote from them to rebuild chimney crown (I have a small leak where roof and chimney meet) I gave them a B in the responsiveness category because it took them a long time to get me a quote for the chimney crown restoration. I recd. Paul's to two other friends and they were very happy with the work he did for them.

Excellent job, a messy job but there was no evidence that they were there! They laid covers over everything near our fireplace insert, no ash dust escaped while they were working. He pointed out that maintenance that needed to be done to our insert to keep it safe. Excellent work.

Moved into a new home and had an issue with my boiler due to soot build-up in the Chimney blocking the vent. The prior owners had not cleaned it in quite a while. I called Paul and he was very accommodating and came out the very next day to do a chimney sweep. With his quick response we were able to have the oil company come back in and finish up work due to damage to the boiler. While I didn't really have time to get multiple quotes, the price seemed reasonable. During his visit Paul assessed some other Chimney work that he recommended be completed and provided a quote with detailed breakdown. He took the time to thoroughly explain the work and why he recommended getting it done. No big sales push, just very straight forward. Overall, Paul was very nice and informative each time I spoke with him as noted above. I plan to use him to complete my other Chimney work needed in the future.

Description of Work: Repair of seal around firebox, inspection of chimney, repair of seal around and pipe by furnace.
Paul was on-time, inspected the fireplace, chimney and furnace, gave me a quote, and was able to fix everything right there (the visit was originally for an inspection, but he had time to repair it during the same visit). Everything was neat and clean when he left. I've used him 2-3X before, and have always been very satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: For this job, it was repair of a seal around the firebox, inspection of the chimney, and repair of the seal around the pipe by the furnace. In the past, Paul's company has also cleaned my chimney, put a cap on the chimney, and rebuilt the chimeny from the roofline up.

I was extremely pleased with the services provided. Matt and Joel were very thorough, inspecting all three of our chimneys and our fireplace flue. I had originally made the appointment to clean two of the three fireplaces. When they took a look, they told me only one needed cleaning, saving me $189.00!!!! They were nice, very friendly and knowledgeable. Also, very clean. Not a speck of soot was left when they were done. They made some recommendations for future work. Very honest, I would highly recommend calling them!!

Used their service and at prior residence and will continue to use them Recommended them to a neighbor. Had chimney cleaned at new home and asked about the wood burning stove. The wood stove and potential hazard was brought to our attention by the home inspector. The stove was installed by prior owner and the chimney was not lined. Paul's gave us options to line the chimney or remove the wood stove. They removed the wood stove, disposed of it and cleaned the chimney. We will continue to use their services.
Description of Work: Used at a prior residence and continue to use their services. Had chimney cleaned and then had them come back at a later date to remove a wood burning stove. Provided options with regards to the stove, either line the chimney or remove. Wood stove removal, disposal and cleaning was on 7/25/2011 at approx. $475.00. Very polite.

My wife and I are in the process of replacing the boiler in our home and wanted to have our chimney inspected and cleaned before installing the new boiler. We called several companies and had them come out and do a rough inspection and provide us price quotes for installing a liner. During his inspection, Paul informed us that we had a squirrel's nest in our chimney and informed us that we needed to have it removed and the chimney cleaned before we installed the new boiler. Paul did not have the tools to perform the work on the day that he conducted the inspection, so he returned a week later to do the work. Paul's work was quick, professional and complete. He is fully licensed and has all the credentials that you would expect of a chimney repair and cleaning professional. Paul explained to us the need for the liner, as well as chimney caps. Also, he provided us with literature to help us make s selection. When it comes time for us to install the chimney liner and caps we will be hiring Paul to do the work. One final thing, I noticed an earlier reviewer stated that they had a hard time getting in touch with Paul. There is a reason: he is a professional and worth every dime. Keep trying.

Paul and his assistant Joel showed up right on time for the appointment that was made to sweep the chimney and check the dryer vent to see if it also needed to be cleaned. They immediately went to work. They covered all the furniture, floor, rugs, t.v., etc with sheets to be sure nothing became covered with dust. They then brought in the necessary equipment to clean the chimney which included a special, high-powered vacuum. They both took their time to set up correctly and began working. I couldn't believe the amount of debris that was coming out of the chimney! They really took their time to complete the job and it was very evident that it was done with professionalism and care. After they were done sweeping the chimney, they picked up all the sheets (which did not have a speck of dust on them due to the use of the special vacuum) and brought everything back to their van. Paul then checked the dryer vent and was very honest in saying that it was not necessary to clean it at that time. Paul is very professional, hard working, punctual and trustworthy. I will definitely call him next year when it is time to sweep the chimney again. I highly recommend Paul to anyone looking for the services that he offers.

We settled on the day, and they were here half an hour EARLY, I hadn't even made my coffee. I offered some around to the FOUR (4) guys there to work, they politely declined, having just come from Dunkin Donuts, and went right to work. They laid a cloth tarp down on the floor leading in and out from the cellar, as there's no outside access. That was thoughtful, and a good start. Within 20 minutes there was a jackhammer going, tearing up the concrete block wall behind the furnace, just as Paul had said they needed to do, for a way to get at the rubble, some of which was very large. They cleaned it all out, installed all new vent pipes from the furnace, and created a new access point in the wall behind. The chimney was swept clean, inspected with a snake like video camera. The wall was then cemented back together, everything cleaned up like they hadn't even been there!! Then one of the guys went on the roof, up to the chimney caps, and cemented them on, where they were just clamped on before (I didn't have a clue!). They sprayed some type of brick preservative in the outside of the chimney, cleaned all that up, and were gone. I did give them a check for the work before they left, telling the man they certainly earned every penny (it was nearly 90 degrees that day and VERY humid.). I would recommend Paul's Chimney Care to ANYONE. I'm a big fan of Holmes on Homes and Holmes Inspection, and learn a LOT from his shows on HGTV. If Paul's were in Canada, where the show is filmed, he would certainly be one of Holme's contractors, without doubt. Like Holme's tag line "Do It Right", that's just what Paul's does. I'm learning the truth in that statement.
Description of Work: Upon routine HVAC annual cleaning and inspection, the serviceman discovered that the interior of my chimney was collapsing, not to the point where he thought there was structural issues, more that the rubble was blocking the chimney, and not allowing the proper venting of gases and other emissions from my oil-fired furnace. He showed me what he meant, just by pulling off the aluminum vent pipe, and the rubble was visible with just a flashlight. I have a true and healthy fear of CO Poisoning, and even with a monitored detector right in the kitchen (the next room from the basement door), I still fear it greatly. I sleep very deeply. My mother, who lives with me, is 85 years old and quite frail and vulnerable. The serviceman from my oil company referred 'Paul's Chimney Cleaning & Restoration' to us. He said straight out that they would be quite expensive, but they would do the job right and take NO shortcuts or use any materials that they wouldn't use in their own homes. He said he could give me names for others, but Paul's was the best, the most professional and the least likely to "Rip anyone off" as he put it. I was very impressed with that kind of recommendation, and called Paul's the next day, made an appointment, and Paul himself came out to do the estimate two days later. On a Saturday. At no charge. And he spent quite a lot of time explaining exactly what he needed to do to bring my chimney up to code and beyond. And it was as my oil man said, about $2500.00. He didn't leave us with a sense of panic, just said it must be done sooner rather than later, but we were in no immediate danger from CO or anything else. He's a very friendly and pleasant man, very low key, no HARD SELL, which bugs me. I signed the contract, and we just needed to get the scheduling down, because I have a dog, who has elopement issues, so I had to be there. My mother, at 85, just wasn't up to it.
The work was done professionally and quickly. The price for the service call was more than fair.
Description of Work: Fireplace chimney flue damper was found to be not connected at all. This caused major cold air downdrafts through the fireplace and into the house during these early winter months here in CT. I thought it was broken and had to be replaced, or a different type of damper would have to be purchased and installed. The costs I researched were in excess of $350. Paul, the company owner, could have told me anything to get a sale. Instead, he was honest and simply reinstalled the damper how and where it was supposed to be. Thus, fixing the problem. I would definitely call him when the chimney needed cleaning or other repairs.
