Description of Work: We purchased a BIG DEAL for landscape design, we were very excited with Mike Arata's plans and signed a contract for additional work. The site that was addressed consisted of four areas. One was an existing walkway, second was a large ledge and rock expanse, third was a a wooded side yard with more ledge and a long driveway that was to be lined with sod. The addition of personally selected plantings along with their recommendations have totally enhanced the area. The design was well thought out and the "personal touches" that were added have transformed our woodland home to a neighborhood "eye-catcher". Mike took our thoughts into consideration when finalizing his plan, made us feel like we were part of the process. While on site, his entire team was not only professional, but treated us like part of the family.

Description of Work: It took a while to find a time that would work for both of us. Scheduling was not very flexible. In fact, I think he may have suggested I find another landscaper, which is really strange way to build a business. When we did get together, he had great ideas as we walked the property, however, would not provide anything in writing. I was hoping to get a plan so that if the price was too high I could chip away at it as we had the money to spend. He would not provide a landscaping plan off of which we could work. very very disappointing.

Description of Work: After buying the deal, I did not hear from them. Even after trying to contact them through Angie's List, directly on their company website, and via phone listed on their website. When I contacted Angie's List staff because I had paid for a service that I did not get, I indicated I'd still be willing to use them if they would contact me, Angie's List did get them to contact me. |(I believe it was) Michael came to my house (per the contract), at our agreed upon time. I can't say I felt like he was on the same page with me as to what I was asking for when we walked the property and discussed possibilities for landscaping. |Part of the deal listed a written description of his suggestions of what kind of plants to use where, and a diagram. None arrived. I contacted Angie's List again, they contacted him again, and I was told by Angie's List that he felt our dealings were done, and he would be providing no more. |

Description of Work: They replaced an old poured retaining wall and sidewalk with pavers and matching wall. They made a new patio approximately 20x18 with pavers and a wall. I have pictures of before and after posted on Angie's web site. We are having them come back the end of this summer to make the patio even larger so it goes across the entire back of our home. At the beginning of last summer our whole yard was dirt and replanted by them. This spring you cannot tell that it is new grass. All filled in and looks like it has been there forever. They do not use cheap seed. We have recommended them to friends and will continue to use them. Their service is great, workers very professional. They are not satisfied unless the project is exactly what you want.A little expensive but you get what you pay for.

Description of Work: We are trying to sell our property and had no offers. I hired Arata to help us make the property more appealing to buyers. We used all his ideas. He removed stumps, an unsightly drainage pipe, leveled the ground, added deer-resistant bushes, placed mulch and planted a new lawn in the front and back. We had our first offer at the next open house. Arata had great ideas, always arrived when he said he would. He was very willing to work with our budget. A very likeable and trustworthy guy with local, English-speaking hardworkers who came in and got right down to business. I highly recommend them for any landscaping project.

+ 1 more.He did a great job. The men he has working for him are very professional and take all the time necessary to do an A+ job. They came on time and stayed here weather permitting until the job was done. They had to take out a poured retaining wall that was at least 60 feet long and 4 feet high. The removed the concrete sidewalk as well. They replaced all of this with a necolock wall and a 6' wide sidewalk made of pavers. They leveled an area behind our home and layed a paver patio that is 24' x 19' in size with a 2 foot wall along one side of the patio. Following the work being done they graded our side yard and back yard and planted about 10,000 sq ft of new grass. The grass is coming up and almost all filled in now after only 8 weeks. I checked the bag of seed and it was all perennial grass mostly Kentucky Blue, not cheap contractors seed. I watched the job as they were doing it and they didn't skimp anywhere. They had to re-route our downspout under the patio with a pop-up for when it rains hard. We had originally contracted him to do just the wall and sidewalk. That was done last fall. The weather turned very cold very fast and they could not grade and seed our yard. Over the winter we were so happy with the job that they had done so far , we contracted him to put in the patio when they came back to do the landscaping. Without a doubt we would recommend them to our friends and family. If you contact them and want to see out job just ask him for our address and come and see it. We are very happy with it all done.
