HAD HOME DEPOT DESIGN NEW KITCHEN, PICKED OUT CABINETS, GRANITE COUNTERTOP AND HARDWARE THROUGH THEM. APPLIANCES AND FLOORING WAS PURCHASED ELSEWHERE. THE INSTALLERS HOME DEPOT USED FOR BOTH THE CABINETS AND COUNTERTOPS SHOWED UP ON TIME, THEY ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE WORK WAS BEAUTIFUL AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHERS FOR AFFORDABLE AND QUALITY KITCHEN WORK.

It started with poor service in the store when I had to wait around for someone to come and staff the flooring dept so I could schedule the measurement. I should have known then! The first step was to schedule the measurement, which is done by a different company. Home Depot made me choose carpeting before the measurement, which is a problem, because if you don't know how much carpet you will need, you don't know what the total cost will be, so you don't know how expensive carpet you can choose. The sales associate just told me to choose something, which could be changed later. They could not measure if I didn't choose. They couldn't answer questions about my specific job/concerns because "they are not the ones putting it in." I waited several days for the measuring guy to call me and set up a time. He came on time and did the measurements. He couldn't answer my questions about the carpeting installation, because he was "just there to measure." The measurement service cost $35. After 48 hours I received a call from someone with such a heavy accent, I could hardly understand him. I finally realized he was telling me they had the quote and wanted to schedule the installation of the carpet, with a total price that was much higher than I can afford. He couldn't advise me about it, other than to say, "we just install, you need to go to Home Depot." In order to change the choice of carpeting, I had to return to the store and wait around AGAIN until an utterly disinterested associate begrudgingly looked everything up on the computer and indicated where the cheaper carpeting choices were displayed. I chose one, and he did all the computer entry stuff again, telling me "someone" would contact me "soon." It took another 3 days to hear from Home Depot, asking me to pay over the phone so the carpet could be installed. Then in another 2 days I got the call from the installation company, and set up the time for installation. When the installers came, they realized they did not have the appropriate kind of carpeting runner for the stairs, about a quarter of the entire installation. Apparently, the measuring guy who had been to the hosue didn't mention the need for this... i certainly didn't know that it needed some kind of "binding." So they were unable to complete the installation, and on top of that, the installation supervisor says that Home Depot now will need me to pay another $200 or so to do this "binding" on carpeting I've already paid for. So now I'm waiting to hear from someone (at Home Depot? i think?) about how this is going to progress. I'm not happy that I'm having to deal with 3 separate companies, none of whom take responsibility for the others' work. No one mentioned to me that my interior doors would have to be removed and would no longer work after carpeting was installed. The installers just said, "you have to saw them down." To add the coup de gras, the installers apparently broke a leg off our dining room table and didn't mention it, just propped it up after doing their work, so that I didn't notice it. It shouldn't be such an arduous odyssey to buy $1300 of crappy carpeting and have it installed.
Description of Work: I purchased carpeting and installation from Home Depot for most of the lower floor of my house.

I was very pleased with the work that was done on my carpets. Home Depot contracts work like this out and the guys that did it were very professional and did great work. Other jobs I have had done through Home Depot I was not pleased with at all. The only thing I would let them do again would be just carpeting. I would not hire them again for anything else.
Description of Work: I had Home Depot install the carpet that I bought for my house. It was about 800 square feet of carpet. When they did the installation they also removed the old carpeting and padding.
