Description of Work: Gutted and rebuilt a small bathroom and gave my adjoining bedroom a face lift, too.

In the case of the shower door installation, to fit properly, he had to sand the edges of the track so it would fit perfectly into the shower stall. It was not a simple installation, but Stephen made it look that way. I would hire him again for any household repair in a heart beat. I am glad I found him and have a few more projects for him.
Description of Work: We needed a shower door installed. It was a nicer all glass unit.

+ 0 moreStephen installed a railing for me earlier. I liked him and the work he did so I had him estimate this larger job. His estimate was lower than 2 others by a sizable amount. I generally am uneasy about accepting a low estimate but because of the previous job Stephen did I decided to go with him. I do not regret it. Stephen 'got it' that at this point we just needed something functional. One thing about the other 2 estimates was that they were both were going to get a door of higher quality at a higher cost which is not what I wanted and stated. I did not have a lot of money to spend on this and needed the handicapped ramp. Stephen listened to what I was saying. He took his time and put a lot of thought into what was needed. I am very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Stephen cut an opening in a screened, enclosed side porch and installed a storm door to provide for a handicapped ramp entrance.

+ -1 moreI contacted Stephen about doing the job via Angie's List. He responded quickly and said he was interested. I told him it was a small job but I needed it done soon as it was a safety issue. His communication was excellent. He set a date and time for the install then let me know later that he would arrive around 11:00 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m. which was fine. He did arrive at 11:00 and worked steadily. He made certain the railing was secure as the posts were in a concrete stair and sidewalk. I believe he had to replace or install some cement anchors that had not been installed properly the first time. At any rate, the railing is up and looking good. Stephen removed the old railing and box it had come in and cleaned up the area very nicely. We were very happy with his work. Very nice to deal with. I am having him quote a larger job.
Description of Work: Stephen removed a rusted out wrought iron railing from my front stairs and installed a new one that I had purchased.

+ -1 moreWe've built several home and completely remodeled another. Good workers are hard to come by. One has to expect delays. For the most part, Steve completed everything in a timely fashion. There were no major delays. He had several projects going on at the same time and was able to get this job done in a timeframe I was happy with.
Description of Work: I had my kitchen remodeled. Cabinets where purchased and installed by Lowes. New appliances were installed. A new vent was purchased and I needed to vent it to the outside. I also needed custom work done for the kitchen island to support the granite countertop. The vent was complicated and several walls had to be opened for the metal duct. Steve is very meticulous and he spends a lot of time explaining how he's going to get the job done. In all, he did some rewiring of the kitchen, added new outlets, built a platform to support the island granite countertop, added "legs" for the countertop, put in duct work for the vent, plus other odds and ends. I recently hired him to install a new faucet. He immediately noted some parts that were needed, went out to purchase the parts, and completed everything in no time. This was over Labor Day weekend. I tried calling another handyman and was told it was Labor Day weekend and therefore no one was available. We tried to hire Steve to do another job but Steve was upfront about his schedule. Steve is overworked and he has the integrity to let us know if he is not able to do the job. I would not hesitate to hire him again.

+ 3 moreI liked Stephan better than the other contractors. I waited several weeks after the estimate to hear back from this company for when he would start the work. He had even recommended me to start shopping for my bath remodel, so I had begun to order the materials. When I was out shopping and I had a question, I would call him for advice and he would quickly respond. I came home yesterday to hear a voicemail from him saying he had gave it thought and he wouldn’t feel comfortable with doing my job. He said that he is working seven days a week on other jobs and already is cutting corners trying to get them all complete. He spent six hours at my house a few weeks back while we discussed the project. He spent more time talking with me about what could be done than I did with other contractors. I don’t understand how he could spend that long at my house just talking to me if he is that busy. This seems irresponsible about the company.
Description of Work: I hired Stephen Niarchos to remodel my bathroom and other projects around the inside and outside of my home.
