The provider first told me he was going to start the project in two weeks because he was busy. This was in August. He didn't start until October. I requested pressure treated wood which he provided, however he did not go and pick out the wood. It was delivered and it was terrible quality. He then proceeded to build my deck. Which he did in a couple of days. However, I had the building inspector come out to look at it and the stairs were not up to code. There were three things wrong with them and they needed to be rebuilt. Outside of the stairs, the edges of the deck weren't cut straight, boards didn't match up, the mitered corners were a mess, he screwed a piece of wood to the concrete slab at the bottom of the stairs because the stairs didn't match up correctly and he used several cracked boards. When I pointed these cracks out to him, he told me that was pressure treated wood. Yes, I'm a woman, but I'm not stupid. I don't think he measured anything. Nothing was consistent. I will say he tried to fix the problem, but his work is sloppy at best. I told him to stop and took him to small claims court. I won the case in June and he was supposed to pay me in July and I still have not been paid. (It's now August) I would never do business with him again. His excuse to the judge as to why the stairs weren't up to code, because they followed what was there previously. What was there previously was the original deck on the house that was built in the 1980's. Even I know that wouldn't be up to today's code. This was a terrible experience all the way around. I would not recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: The provider was hired to take down an old deck and build a new one.
