It's been almost 2 years since our addition and new heating/ cooling system install. Nutmeg is the only company getting an "A" of all the contractors who have worked at my house over the past 2 years. Nutmeg was not the cheapest, nor the least expensive. I had gotten 5 quotes. Everyone recommended something different (including 1 company who said we didn't need new ductwork or a zoned system, but I knew I would never be happy with this, I would always regret it!) Jimmy did a fantastic and thorough job with estimating, measuring up our house and designing the new system (together with Neil, I believe). He provided a detailed line-item quote in writing, with options and alternates spelled out. All of this front work was very important to me. Nutmeg has a good warranty as well. Work crews arrived on time, worked efficiently & diligently- they were focused. One of the younger guys, Mike, even put together a good-looking stone base to level the outside AC heat pump unit (from stone on-site). Good team, with more experienced guys coming & going, running several jobs at once which worked ok; more experience was here when it was needed. Workmanship was ok in terms of cleanliness... there were a few issues with mess in living spaces (I am a clean freak, hard to see sawdust & wood chips everywhere, using a vacuum while cutting is better) but they were resolved when I spoke up. Propane heating system has cut my heating bill roughly in half, but I don't know if that's partially because we went from 3 zones to 1 (and adjust heat according to where space is occupied) & added a heat pump. We're now using the 2nd floor also though, and there's now heat up there too :) . Heat pump is GREAT! Doesn't make my electric skyrocket like some said it would, and I KNOW I'd be spending more on propane than what it costs to run the heat pump. The quality of heat pump heat is nice too, more of an even warm rather than hot/ cold/ hot/ cold. We did have an issue with something in the furnace a few months after install, Nutmeg showed up a couple different times until it was resolved, no charge; so they do stand by their work/ equipment which is HUGELY important! System's been great ever since. Whenever I've called, the woman answering the phone hasn't seemed to be very happy; but I didn't see any of that from any crew member.

I read the reviews here and called them. They were good to go. Henry, one of the owners was really nice. They had come out weeks before for another problem with the AC. Made an adjustment and it was fixed. Then the compressor died. It was really hot and rather than wait for one to be ordered they found one locally that could go in within days. I had no complaints at all.

Fantastic service! Partner is disabled with a medical condition requiring consistent temps in the house, and when the a/c stopped working and the temp in the house began climbing, his condition began to deteriorate. By the time we finally realized that the a/c was running -- but not cooling the air or removing the humidity any longer -- the temp in the house was up to 82 degrees. I checked Angie's List, saw the excellent ratings for Nutmeg Mechanical, and was promised they'd be there "in a bit". When I asked if they'd be here the same day, I was assured they would be, and it was only about 35 minutes later when the truck pulled into our driveway. I was amazed at how quickly they sent someone out. Joe is the person who got our a/c running again. We have no idea whether the price was good or bad because this is the first time in 14 years our a/c has ever needed a repair, and we did not have the luxury of calling around to get price quotes. We got the 15% Angie's List discount and were completely impressed with how professional and competent Joe was as he went about fixing our central air. We would call these people again in a heartbeat. Cannot recommend them enough.

The service technician (Ed) arrived on time and identified himself immediately. He was very pleasant but at the same time, professional. Ed performed a detailed inspection of our ac unit. I appreciated that he answered all my questions thoroughly, using layman's terms. We need our clothes dryer vent cleaned and I will be using Nutmeg Mechanicals to do the job. A+ in my book.

Chris was very professional and helpful. The entire experience was positive. Chris was responsive to our various requests for comparison quotes for different types of equipment. Crews arrived on time and finished job in time estimated. We were quite pleased with NUTMEG's service.

Technician arrived on time and was courteous and friendly. Took the time to explain what he was checking and answered all of our questions. Would definitely use NUTMEG's services again.

When the first warm day of the season descended upon on us, we turned on the A/C and found it was not cooling as well as it once did. I suspected low Freon. After researching prospective service providers, we chose Nutmeg. We called for service on Thursday and got an appointment for the next day, Friday at 11:30AM. The technician showed up promptly at 11:20AM. He checked the air handling unit in the attic, then the compressor outside. As suspected, Freon was low. Technician added 3 lbs of Freon and then checked all vents for exit temperatures and possible leaks. We were informed that we have a very small leak (Freon) but everything else checked out okay. Initial service call fee was $75, Freon, $40 per added pound. Being a member of Angie's list, Nutmeg offered a 15% discount coupon, for rendered service, not for service call fee. We received 15% discount for the added Freon. Technician was very friendly, professional and informative, the service call lasted about 30 minutes. We were provided with a very detailed receipt. A very pleasant experience, will use again.

They managed to fit us in on a same day service. Quickly found the problem and resolved it.

Provider showed up on time when scheduled a short time after I made a call to arrange service. The workman checked the furnace and confirmed that it was working properly. He indicated several options if we wished to replace any of the parts to reduce the sound level, but, at the same time, indicated clearly that such replacement was not necessary at this time. Although no actual repair or replacement was performed, I appreciated the reassurance that the sound level did not indicate a structural problem (more a problem with resonance in a big, old house). I also appreciated the honest appraisal that nothing was need and not getting a sales pitch for equipment or repair. I would contact this provider again if I do have furnace problems in the future.

I called on a Sunday morning and left a message and Joe called me back within half hour. He said he would be out within an hour and was here exactly on time. He checked the heater, saw the problem, fixed it within half an hour and left. It was totally awesome. Plus I got a discount from having Angie's List.

Met with Nutmeg's salesman, Chris Wierzbicki, received his recommendations for equipment replacement A few days later, met with him again and settled upon a Crown Bimini model 90+ boiler system with a 40 gallon indirect fired Smart Line water heater. Chris told me that it would take 2 days to remove the old equipment and install the new and we settled on 2 days in the following week. Two men showed up the first day and unloaded the new equipment and spread a plastic protective floor covering. The next day a crew of 6 showed up and never missed a beat. They shut down the old equipment, removed it and installed the new in about 6 hours. As a person who had managed a number of companies, it was a pleasure for me to watch these men work in an efficient, professional manner. When they were done, they left the area cleaner than it had been. The crew leader explained the new equipment operation and made sure that I did not have any questions before he left. A day of so after the installation, I asked the crew leader to return and make a minor temperature adjustment, which he did and the equipment has operated perfectly.

They were fantastic! Three installers came on time and were professional and courteous. Quality of the work was great. They were efficient, worked well together, and cleaned up and took all old parts away.

They helped lower the price for us by getting us the rebates associated with the new system, so the price may be higher then what it turned out to be. They were very professional, knowledgable and a great company to work with. I would highly recommend.

Prompt, polite and professional. They walked us through every step of our upgrade to an uber efficient natural gas from an ancient oil boiler. When the boiler clogged the day before the natural gas boiler would be in place, Scott, the foreman for the job, worked to get the beast going again. Scott warned me they might not make it out on the day of installation, due to heavy snow, but showed up anyway as we were shoveling over eight inches of snow. There was a small hiccup in the system the day after installation, but Scott diagnosed the problem and had it fixed quickly. Quentin, the salesman, met us several times to work through some of the more difficult logistics of the project prior to, and even after, the installation. The owner, Steve, even came out to look over the project himself. I'm happy with the work and even happier with the people.

I would highly recommend Nutmeg to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

Simply excellent work. One day was spent by demo'ing the old oil system, but the 2nd day a full team of Nutmeg technicians came in and set up the new system in a day. Fully professional, explaining in as much detail as I wanted. This was an install of the 95% efficiency equipment, eligible for tax incentives, etc. They also filled out and submitted manufacturer rebate paperwork, for which I promptly received a rebate. Neat, clean, courteous, and professional. We've already had them back for another job. We were so pleased by their work on the heating system, we went back later in the season for a ductless split A/C installation, which we're equally thrilled with.

No problems encountered and the upgrade has greatly increased my ability to balance the heating of this old home...

I asked them to perform a service tune up on my hot water boiler for my heat . He arrived 15 minutes early check all the parts to make sure I was happy . Gave me the Contact phone numbers just in case something happen would recommend

Short story: they are great for quality and service. They were not cheap, but they were competitive on price. Read below for the long story. It is December, and we were having furnace problems, and a CNG repairman diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger and shutdown the furnace because of possible carbon monoxide issue ("red-tagged"). The furnace was 25 years old, so it was better to replace than to spend and estimated $1000 to repair. 1. The estimate: It is a week before Christmas, and we are without heat. We need to act quick! Called 6 contractors for quotes, and got quotes from 4 (2 could not do the work immediately). We made an appointment with Nutmeg for the same day our furnace was shutoff, and Quentin came right on schedule. He was extremely fastidious collecting the technical details for the install, and very helpful explaining precisely what our options and limitations were. Quentin was head and shoulders above all the others who came to give us a quote. Since our AC was also 25 years old and also not working great, we included that for replacement. In case you do not know, there is cost savings to do the furnace and AC together, since you save on some money on the labor that is common. 2. The install: Quentin gave us a quote on a Thursday, we agreed on a price Friday morning, and he promised an install on Monday (two days before Christmas). They prioritize no heat situations (as I expect all do). Indeed, Monday came, and an install crew of 4 guys arrived around 7:45am. They were very polite and efficient. They tore out the old furnace and AC, and had the new ones mostly installed by 2pm. We put in a two zone system with a multistage 96% efficient furnace, and an AC with 16 SEER rating (both qualifying for efficiency rebates and tax credits, that Quentin helped with). They also replaced the coolant lines, thermostats, and dampers for the zoning. The only minor glitch was connecting our existing house humidifier. For some reason, the humidistat panel would not work when everything was re-connected. They did not have a replacement panel on the truck, so we arranged for them to come back after Christmas. They returned two days after Christmas with a new panel, and had it installed in about 45 minutes, with no additional charges. 3. The bottom line: everyone wants fast, quality, and cheap. It is hard to get all three. We feel we got fast and quality, and a competitive, but not cheap price. For us, that was an acceptable trade off. We are very happy with Nutmeg and would certainly reuse their service.

Salesman, Quentin Eastman, was very knowledgeable about the cooling requirements and complexity of system required due to multiple additions to the house and lack of access from the attic (no ducting in the house). He answered all of my questions and explained the cooling requirements as well as explanation of how the system would work for peak efficiency and esthetic appeal. He provided a written proposal within 48 hours. He answered every e-mail or phone call within24 hours or less. Always very professional and pleasant to work with. He made 2 site visits and several adjustments before we reached a final proposal. 2. Installers: All five installers arrived on time, went right to work as a team, were efficient, very neat, put down protective coverings on hardwood floors and carpets, wore protective booties over their shoes, were exceptionally careful of walls, trim, light fixtures, absolutely no damage! Ceilings, walls, closets, tile, and a header, all required cutting since this was a complex installation. An additional electrical box was required and the electrician did a great job as well. Before leaving, everything was cleaned up, vacuumed and secured for return on the 2nd day. All were very courteous, knowledgeable about their equipment and a pleasure to work with. 3. Office Staff: Very pleasant and helpful. I made 2 office visits, (my choice), since I was in the area to submit paperwork and sign the contract. The office was professional in appearance and everyone was efficient and very easy to work with. I have done many projects, additions, and used multiple contractors on my home, but Nutmeg Mechanical Services was outstanding! I contacted 6 contractors, some called back, others never returned a phone call. I received 4 quotes, 2 of which were less than Nutmeg, however, one company spent less than 20 minutes assessing the cooling requirements of the home, did not note that rooflines did not meet. I was afraid that the job would be started, but not completed without additional revisions to both the contract and the quote. Another quote was given over the phone, but written contract was not provided after several followup phone calls. Again, I felt that if I had a problem, certainly that phone call would not be answered either. I chose Nutmeg because they were willing to work with the requirements of my home and my budget. This required flexibility on both sides and I felt that we worked well together and felt that the quality of equipment, workmanship and service was well worth the price. I am a very happy customer and give them my highest recommendation!!!!! Thank you.

I called sameday - they checked the area and had someone who could come by. They came on-time and was very professional. They checked various ducts, taking temps, tested electrical (servos for zoning, central system, etc), and the coolant pressure. They found that the blower speed was not high enough (should be high for the summer), so fixed the speed. Added some coolant and instructed me on adjusting air flow from the ducts that come off of the main trunk. He said that before replacing the blower, AC unit, or having someone rebalance the entire system, he advised taking the conservative approach and adjust the air flow first. The result over the next several days was positive! The house got cooler and less humid. I need to adjust the air flow a bit more however. I highly recommend Nutmeg and will call on them when we need to replace our old AC unit.

I got a call from home saying that there was gurgling in the attic and water dripping on our bedroom dresser and in the upstairs hallway. I had been planning to call to have our AC serviced but put it off. I found Nutmeg quickly on Angie'sList with a coupon. We called around 5pm and they were at our house within 20 minutes. We were told ahead of time that there was a $117 diagnostic charge regardless of what they found. With the 95 degree plus weather I just needed someone out there quick to fix it. He only took about 20 minutes to clear the clog so the additional $90 seemed a little high but I appreciated the immediate response and it was my own fault for putting the maintenance off. The technician was quick and professional. Will definitely call them again.

I called at 8pm on Friday night during day 6 of a 7 day heat wave. My central air had just stopped working. The service technician Jim called back promptly and came within 1.5 hours. He fixed the issue quickly, was professional and courteous. The price was reasonable for an emergency call and I got 15% off the part for using Angie's list. I will recommend Nutmeg to anyone who asks. Very positive experience.

Prompt! Another place I called couldn't come for a week. Pleasant, competent. Returned twice; once with a new part and once because the thermostat needed to be adjusted.
