Called to get a commercial service for my business. They initially offered an appointment window, but when they asked what type of business it was, I told them it was a restaurant. She then said she had to "ask the owner if he'd like to take the job." She placed me on hold, then came back saying the owner refused to service my AC. When I asked why, she said it was because they're not taking any new customers, which seemed extremely odd. Hopefully there's a commercial AC company out there that likes staying in business.

All the workmen have been polite and professional. They arrive on time and do the job. I am an older, retired woman and am frequently seen as a mark by hustlers. I don't get that from Nutmeg. They are expensive but then again I think everything is expensive, so judge for yourself. The B rating is because one furnace maintenance was left incomplete. I keep hiring them because I trust them.

Wonderful service, as usual. Called on Friday and got an appointment on the following Tuesday. Matt B showed up right on time, found a very dirty evaporator coil and the root cause of the dirt -- the filter had gotten twisted out of position so it wasn't able to do its job. Matt cleaned and tested the unit, and then performed routing preventive maintenance on another system in our home. Matt was pleasant, polite and efficient.

FYI... This is not the first time we hired Nutmeg Mechanical. They came the day and time expected. Additional workers also arrived: completed the job in one day rather than two as scheduled. They were professional, polite and friendly: answered all questions as the job was progressing. Did not leave any mess inside or outside. One of the workers returned the next day to go over for a second time the instructions concerning the digital thermostat. I 'finally' understand it.

This is the second time we have been in need of their services. They were here one minute before appointment time, they were friendly and professional.

We were getting estimates from several companies for a central A/C system in our old home. Nutmeg Mechanical spent about an hour doing a thorough evaluation of our home and planning different possibilities (ducted vs ductless; upstairs only; split system). The work was well done, but their salesman was a high-pressure, fast-talking type. He continuously bad-mouthed the other companies ("They're not giving you everything they should. They're not telling you the truth")-- and for the record, the competitors were HARP mechanical, Glastonbury Mechanical, and Mull Brothers, so we were not considering fly-by-night startups. When we thanked him for his time and said we would be in touch in a couple of weeks, he told us that if we waited two weeks, they wouldn't be able to do the work at all because summer was coming and they were getting busy.

Plumbing and pumps had become difficult to deal with over time as two zones rose to four. Arrived at 8am with 5 workers. Left at 3 or so after cleanup. Couldn't be happier. Everything works great, looks clean and professional. Price was fair (this was way more than a boiler replacement). Town inspector was very impressed. Excellent job from discussion to proposal to implementation.

Nicole, Chris, and Scott were perfect: professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and overall helpful. The expertise at the company is top-notch. Nicole was great at estimating costs up front, following through in a timely manner, and following up after the job was done to check in on performance and satisfaction. The services are not cheap compared to other companies out there. But it is still the best deal because Nutmeg has better equipment and more knowledgeable employees than other companies. I highly recommend Nutmeg for your HVAC needs.

I can't say enough good things about this company. They helped me out in a tough situation and I will be forevere greatful. I will definitely use them again.

Ed was really fast, really competent and did the work within just a few minutes. He knew exactly what to do right away, no hemming and hawing, no up selling me something I didn't need. He is a star. I'll go with Nutmeg again.

I sent an email from Angie's List the night before. They called me at 7:35 the following morning (they open at 7:30) and were there before noon. They were prompt, efficient, informative, polite, thorough, and I received an Angie's List discount. Heat pumps are not the preferred type of heating/cooling in CT, but I'm in a condo so it was cost effective for the builder. I found Nutmeg Mechanical to be very knowledgeable. They will the be the company I call for all my heating and cooling needs.

The guys were on time and replaced the water heater with no problems. Cleaned up and removed the old water heater.

Very good experience. The office staff was very professional and helpful. Service was prompt. Service technicians were skilled professionals who did the job well. They also were very fair on the price. Another AC repair company had asked that we pay them twice as much for the same service. We recommend them, without reservation.

Nutmeg sent a representative within a day or two of my service call when other companies had a two week minimum delay. The technician was able to clearly explain the situation and options available. Since the type of "Freon" will be phased out of use in the next 5-10 years, repair V.S. full replacement were offered as options. The repair was completed within a two hour period. Very professional and friendly service team!

All went well. Jim the full maintenance, he also explained because it is an older unit we could have problems in the future. He explained options and suggested when we are ready we should contact the sales department to have all options fully explained. For now all is working fine except the unit is loud which is because of its age.

My wife and I had noticed a musty, mildewey smell coming from the return of our central air conditioning system. Tracing the smell back to the air handler, we opened it up and noticed that it was covered with mold. Nutmeg Mechanical was one of only two HVAC specialists that we could even convince to come out to give us an estimate - the others either not calling back or being scared off the minute I mentioned "mold." Fortunately, Anthony had recently attended training in handling mold, so my timing was perfect. He was able to come out shortly after I called, took one look at the air handler, and said, "Harmless white mold." Since my system was at least 13 years old and flex-ductwork cannot be cleaned, we decided to go with a whole new system. He promptly sent me an estimate and, like someone who actually "wanted" the job, consistently (though not annoyingly) followed up as I waited, and waited, for the competing estimate. Less than a week after signing the contract, Kevin and Matt came out and worked hard removing the old system and installing the new one. They were kind, courteous, and arrived early and stayed late into the afternoon for all three days that the job took. I signed off on the job and handed over the check. This is where Nutmeg really showed their colors. A couple of days later, I had noticed that one of the registers seemed to have weak air flow with the fan on high. Figuring a damper was closed, I went up to the attic to try to find the damper. In my searching, I noticed gobs of cold air coming from several places where the ductwork branched off. I also couldn't find the damper. I contacted Anthony on Tuesday, and he promptly responded and said that he and another one of his installers would be there first thing Thursday morning. Arthur arrived first at about 8:30, and when I pointed out what I discovered, he also pointed out several other things that were also wrong with the installation. When Anthony arrived a little later that morning, the two of them went through the entire installation, and Arthur ended up working the entire morning and into the afternoon fixing the mistakes. Anthony apologized profusely for the errors in the installation, explaining that Kevin and Matt were relatively new and that he would be having a long conversation with them, and even offered us something for our troubles. Honestly, we were just so pleased with the lengths they went to in order to make this right that I declined the offer. Honestly, with my check already in the bank, many other companies would have just thrown on some duct tape or try to explain that all ductwork leaks a little or something ridiculous like that. Nutmeg Mechanical is definitely a company you can trust.

I had to raise my central air unit due to erosion in the soil beneath it. Shortly after this it stopped working. I called Nutmeg and they came right out. They almost ran a purge and die test when the second person on the crew too a few moments to check the elbow joint at the house. He saved me a bunch of time and money by squirting sop on the joint and it bubbled. Thankfully he was there. I ended up paying for replacing a piece of pipe and soldering. Also a filter in the line which I didn't quite understand. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they weren't looking to make a simple fix more complex but I think soldering a pipe and replacing Freon was about what happened. I almost paid a lot more for the die test.

I contacted Nutmeg Mechanical Services regarding an equipment installation that I needed to have done. I worked with Anthony Congelosi who was the point of contact. Anthony was extremely knowledgeable, understood the scope of work, and was able to implement the work without an issue. He was responsive to my inquires throughout the entire process and completed the work as expected of a professional service.

We were very happy with the insallation and the resulting AC that was installed.

Matt the lead installer was knowledgeable and explained basic operations and answered my questions. The whole job took three days including running new pex lines to my second floor. Techs are respectful of wood floors in my hose and even put on shoe covers over their work boots. There was some thumping in new zone due to expansion and the company sent someone out the next day to take care of the issue at no charge.

Overall we are extremely satisfied with the work and service of Nutmeg Mechanical. We were looking to upgrade and modernize a good portion of the HVAC systems in our recently purchased home after living in it through all four seasons. Many components were 30-40 years old and either not working or very inefficient. We received a couple of quotes, but Quentin from Nutmeg clearly understood our issues. In the winter, some areas of our house remained colder than other areas and the air was very dry. In the summer, two out of four condensers were not working, and the basement level was very damp. Unlike other bidders, Quentin took the time to study our quirky, non-standard systems that include four separate air handlers, four condensers, an oil furnace, and a gas furnace. He took measurements of each room to determine the size of each zone. He suggested a pump upgrade for hot water circulation to help areas of the house that were starved for heat as well as some damper adjustments. For cooling he properly sized three condensers but told us the fourth was relatively new and efficient and did not need replacement. The unit for the basement was sized and designed to run at variable speeds to reduce humidity even though the temperature often remains cool enough to not require A/C. The overall cost was reasonable given the type of systems we ordered and the equipment arrived very quickly so it was installed prior to the summer heat. The installation crew lead by Neil was exceptional. They were polite and professional and kept the work area clean throughout several days of work. Neil wanted to make sure the system worked right and said that he treats his work as if he was working on his own home. Our house was very comfortable throughout the summer and we have noticed improvements in heating and humidity now that we have experienced some cold winter weather. Thanks again to the Nutmeg team for their quick response, professionalism, and quality products & workmanship! From our first call to their receptionist to project completion it was a pleasure to work with everyone from Nutmeg Mechanical. They listened to our issues, questions, and concerns and addressed them appropriately throughout the process. They are truly a customer focused organization. We highly recommend Nutmeg Mechanical and will call on their services in the future.

Overall I am happy with the service. The technician showed up on time and got right to work. I am a DYI person so I wanted to watch and ask questions so I could perform this work myself in the future. The technician had no issues with this and was happy to give me points, tips, etc. He was at the house for about an hour and a half. During that time he changed the oil tank filter, the nozzle on the burner, cleaned the heat exchanger and fire box, inspected everything and tuned it to ensure that it was running at peak efficiency. The technician was super friendly. Cost was $180 ($170 +$10 tax).

Their Technician Chris came to diagnose my gas furnace overheating issue (which recently caused the heat exchanger to break; that issue was previously covered/replaced by CNG) Chris clearly explained the problem to me and what needed to be done to remedy the issue. He troubleshot, made repairs, did verification testing and was done about 1hour! I would use them again.

The technician arrived on time and identified himself immediately. He was professional in appearance and in the performance of his job. When he was finished, he showed me 'before and after' photos he had taken with his phone in order that I could see exactly what he done. Great quality work for a good price.
