Description of Work: I had the bathroom totally redone. I had a bathtub with shower removed and a tiled shower put in. The toilet, sink and floor were also replaced. A vent fan was removed and ceiling refinished. I was very pleased with the results. Al Paciotti, who is Empire Remodeling, was very responsive to any issue I had. Since it was the only bathroom I had the work done while I was away. Some of the fine level finish work needed some attention when I returned, but again all issues were resolved immediately.

Description of Work: We contact Empire for our third quote for our kitchen remodel. Al ( nice guy) arrive a little early for the appointment and spent over an hour listening to our ideas and request. He was able to get us a quote within the week as he had promised. We found him to be very professional and helpful. What I did like about this company is that Al ( the person who came for the quote) was also the one who would complete the work. .His quote was exactly the same as our second quote. This is the only reason we did not go with EMPIRE. The owner of the company that we did contracted with lives 2 streets over. Both companies had good reputations. We went with the neighbor.

They were responsive and prompt. They cleaned up after themselves. They came out when they said that they were going to come. They also did the work that they had committed to do and they were fine. The price that they charged was very competitive. If need be, then I would use their services in the future.

They were very knowledgeable, friendly and cooperative. They had cleaned up after themselves. They were just excellent and reasonably priced too. The price came as a shock to me. There was one time when it was raining when they were going to install a brand new window. They didn’t do it in the rain, but I think that was reasonable. They were great people, and we would recommend them.
Description of Work: We used Empire Remodeling to completely remodel our bathroom two weeks ago. They had to move the toilet as the room was completely gutted. Now it is tiled and the floor is neat. They installed custom cabinets too.

Al Paciotti and his crew did an amazing job transforming an old eyesore into a beautiful modern kitchen. First, he worked out the design with us -- which required some creativity and imagination. It was a very collaborative effort between Al, his crew and us. Then we bought the cabinets at Home Depot (where they worked out the design in more detail). Al coordinated the timing beautifully -- we were under a deadline, and he made himself available to be there as items were delivered, and installed them in a timely manner. We found him very responsive to phone calls and e-mails. There were a number of unforeseen circumstances, and we were pleased with how Al resolved them, always in collaboration with us. For example, the refrigerator we had ordered was too large to fit through any of the doorways in this old house (!) -- so Al took apart the doorway and improved it, while he was at it. He also found a serious problem with our wiring that could have resulted in a fire. Al was also willing to work with us regarding having us do some of the tasks (e.g. the final paint job) to reduce our costs. We have had bad experiences with contractors in the past, so we were relieved and delighted that Al's work was exactly as he had stated: he met the deadlines, the work was good quality, and he was flexible and responsive to suggestions and changes as we went along. We ended up spending more than originally planned because we kept adding items to the job (e.g., we had him re-do the lighting in the adjoining hallway and bathroom)-- but the cost of the original work was exactly as stated in his original estimate.
Description of Work: Total renovation of an old kitchen in a 120 year old house. Required re-designing the floor plan (original kitchen had all appliances squished into an alcove), installing new kitchen cabinets and counter-tops, moving all appliances and their hook-ups (water, gas lines, and even radiators), re-wiring and replacing lights, ceiling fans and electrical outlets, removing and adding windows (including corresponding outside work to match the house's siding), rebuilding a wall and sanding and finishing wood floor.

Everything went perfectly! Al and Mike were awesome. They were both so professional. I have worked with many contractors in the past and Empire was, by far, the BEST I have ever encountered. Al communicated every step of the way..returned all calls promptly and had suggestions and recommendations for everything. I am so happy to say I have found a contractor that I can trust and count on. I will be calling them for all of my other household needs in the future...you should, too!
Description of Work: removed /disposed of existing fiberglass shower and whirlpool tub, also removed existing flooring, took down small wall, rerouted existing shower plumbing and vents. poured new shower floor, framed/tiled new large spa shower with bench and storage cubbies . installed all new shower fixtures. Also installed new tile floor and base molding. Sealed all tile. Sprayed new popcorn ceiling. removed old lighting and installed new lighting.

They are amazing! I had a tight budget to work with and a design idea other places were hesitant to tackle. Al responded promptly to my phone call and came quickly to evaluate the feasibility of the project. He gave an immediate estimate. Once I finished buying the appliances, the work was scheduled very quickly. They came when scheduled, worked quickly and very professionally, consulting me with any concerns and doing exactly what I asked for. I am thrilled with the result. The only reason the cost was higher than the original estimate was that I added extra work. I have told Al that, when I get ready to redo my bathroom, I will be calling him.
Description of Work: New dishwasher was installed, and cooktop, wall oven, and range hood were replaced. The installation of the dishwasher required major reworking of a cabinet, including raising the wall oven to accomodate the dishwasher underneath and reworking of the cabinet over the oven. Laminate countertop was replaced. New cabinets from Ikea were installed on opposite wall. Kitchen faucet and light over sink were replaced. They even replaced my bathroom faucet.

I left a vm for Al and he got right back to me, made an appt for an estimate which he rescheduled (rescheduling appts was an issue). These were evening appts, and to be fair the next appt we rescheduled for he was there on time, I was not home, so we rescheduled again. Al came in and looked at the bathroom, listened to what we wanted to do. Came off as down to earth and very knowledgeable, made some good suggestions and his pricing was competitive. He was not the lowest price but we liked him and felt he would do quality work so we hired him. Less than a week before he was scheduled to begin work we developed a leak in our roof (in another room). I asked Al if he did roofs. He said yes and we had him out for an estimate. The roof was an unexpected issue (it's only about 3 yrs old) and depending on the cost might have delayed our bathroom project. Luckily Al determined that the leak was very minor and would be an inexpensive fix. We went ahead with the bathroom project and rolled the roof into it. Once the work began, Al and his group were fairly punctual. If they were running late I would usually get a call to inform me. The work was done quickly. If I recall correctly it went demo and tub day 1, tiling day 2, sheetrock, toilet, and sink day 3. There was a weekend in there as well where no work occurred, but that was a mutual decision so it was OK. Overall the quality of the work was good. There was a significant problem with the tile floor in that there were two colors of tiles (not intended). The color difference was subtle but definitely noticeable. Now at this time Al was looking for payment on the balance, and when I called him to let him know about the tile, he was surprised. Got a little defensive about it--I'm sure it wasn't something he was excited about having to deal with, but the important thing is that he agreed to replace the tiles at no extra charge. One recommendation for renovators out there: don't go ultra cheap on the tiles, part of the problem here was the tiles themselves. Al rescheduled on the tiling work a few times, kept pushing it back a day because the job he was working on was dragging out. This wasn't a huge deal to me but was a little annoying. The tiles he replaced look fine. Since the work has been completed, I noticed a couple other small things...there is a small space visible above the lighting fixture that I'll have to fill, and the ceiling has what appears to be a fair amount on compound along the edge of one wall. Overall though the quality of the work was good. I would recommend giving Empire a call and considering them. I think they do an honest business, doing quality work for a reasonable price. I will probably call Al again when I'm ready to do more work on the house.
Description of Work: Bathroom renovation. Had the old tub removed, new tub/shower installed, all new sheetrock put in, floor ripped up and new tile put in, new toilet, sink, medicine cabinet, light fixture.

This customer was very nice and we had a great working relationship throughout this job. AS far as rescheduling appointments, I'm very surprised to read the commentary on this because on one occasion, I showed up to his house and no one was there. Also he purchase cheap 10 cent/a piece tiles that were all random colors. Out of the kindness of my heart, I replaced the tiles for free. No other contractor would have done this as he purchased the tiles, so I assumed those were what he wanted. I'm very shocked at some of the commentary here. This customer signed off on our job as an A- plus, perfect. He elected to paint the room himself, so there was no painting contract. Hence the drywall compound on the walls and ceiling (it was all new drywall). For the gorgeous work, and the low low price he received, I'm rather surprised that his remarks aren't more complimentary.

Absolutely no complaints. Contacting Al was a snap and never waited long to receive a response if I had to leave a message. They were very punctual. I could tell they'd done it many times before by the speed and two man "system" they used to lay the tile. I couldn't be more pleased with the end results.

Al and his crew are true professionals. They worked closely with me on all the decisions to be made. They were very polite and made sure to adhere to the suggestions I had. As I stated above, their workmanship is top notch. They always cleaned up everything right away and made sure that when they left, things were as close as they were before arriving. I called Al on a Thursday and heard back immediately and we met the next day to discuss the job. We scheduled the job two weeks out, but then he was able to move it a week ahead. He gave me an initial estimate for the job and the labor. He gave me receipts, with extra costs incurred through the job, at the end as is customary in construction jobs. Al and his crew worked from Wednesday of week one straight through to completion the following Tuesday. You never find that with contractors. Usually they come and then leave and then come back again, if you're lucky! Al worked everyday with his crew from 9:30 am to 6:00 or 6:30 pm. They never left early or cut out even though the weather was nice. I've honestly never had a harder working bunch of guys. They made sure to keep the house as clean as possible by laying tarps down on my wood floors and my carpeting. They also taped up plastic to the doors to keep any dust in the room. They left their tools neatly in the room they were working in and that allowed them to begin work right away the next day. Al was also willing to run out to the home improvement store if there was something extra needed. Al and his crew are very meticulous in their detail work and their painting was superb. No complaints there. I would and will be hiring Al again in the future. He was not only extremely professional but he also was a lot of fun to be around. The guys were friends with us by the time they left. My daughter especially loved them, and they were very nice to her in return. Thanks so very much Al!
Description of Work: Al and his crew were hired to install insulation and a drywall ceiling for my tub room. They were also hired to install a bathroom fan. The biggest part of the job was the demolition and removal of half a closet from my bathroom and the demolition of an old built in jacuzzi tub. They demolished the floor, the built in wood platform, and the tub itself with very little damage to the existing drywall. The demolition and rebuilding of the bathroom closet was handled very professionally as well. They completed the demolition phase in less than two days for both rooms, completely removing all debris. They also repaired the drywall in the tub room and bathroom and re-popcorned the ceiling in the bathroom. Another big part of this project was all the painting they did around the trim in the tub room and the bathroom ceiling and the new drywall ceiling in the tub room. They also installed crown molding in our bedroom and bathroom and did a fantastic job at it. The last part of the work was with a new hole that we cut in the wall separating the tub room from the bathroom to install nine glass blocks. The new window is just fabulous! Their workmanship is top notch.

Al was very responsive to requests for estimates, coming out twice to rebid job. Work to longer to schedule than we'd planned but once he and his crew arrived, they were very efficient and completed the job on time (5 days). In order to make his offer more attractive, Al threw in one of the ceiling vents and a repair on a screen door. He also picked up the wood floor for us and returned the oversupply as well. He and his crew were were pleasant an professional - they also moved a very heavy armoire for us (carried up a flight of stairs.) The estimate was for $4600 plus expenses. It came in at $5050. They were pretty neat - cleaning up after themselves each day, but the job was still messier than it had to be.
Description of Work: Removed wall to wall carpet, installed wood and tile floor (owner provided.) Removed large closet, moved electrical panel to adjoining wall, repaired wall, cut two vents in ceiling, painted room (owner provided.) Installed very large ceiling fan (owner provided,) buried electric lines, repaired and painted walls, repaired screen door. Disposed of all "garbage" - carpet, sheetrock)

Al gave us a lower estimate than the other contractors we talked to as well as an earlier start date. He and his crew came on time and stayed late to finish quickly. The work cost more than the original estimate, in part because issues came up that we weren't expecting (such as the antiquated wiring in our old house). However, Al explained everything clearly and got our okay before proceeding. The bathrooms look GREAT and we have received many compliments. When we have saved up enough to remodel the kitchen, we will definitely hire Al again.
Description of Work: Complete remodeling of one full and one half bath: Gutted bathrooms to studs, replaced walls and fixtures. Repaired water damaged ceiling on full bath. Installed new tile. Built custom cabinet in full bath. Installed towel racks, medicine cabinet, mirrors, and light fixtures. Rewired full bath to handle supplemental electric heater and installed heater. Removed old window on full bath and replaced it. Painted both bathrooms.

What a saga! While Empire Remodeling was remodeling our bathrooms, our roof began to leak, causing part of the bathroom and bedroom ceiling to collapse. After fixing the ceiling, Al offered to take a look at the roof and to repair it. It turned out that the roof had not been brought up to code since the house was built (in 1925!) and accumulated water seepage had begun to rot the rafters. This was a situation that had to be remedied right away. Al and his roofing crew came back a month later and repaired/replaced the entire roof, coping with multiple snowstorms and delays. The roof now looks great, and no longer leaks. In addition, the paint blistering and damp patches I had noticed in the finished attic are gone.
Description of Work: Complete re-roofing job: Removed all shingles, replaced damaged rafter, installed plywood over old shakes, replaced shingles.

I cannot say enough about the incredible job Al Paciotti did on my previously hideous bathroom. He answered my call the same day, and came over to look the following day. He brought a CD of his prior work on bathrooms, which showed me Al took a great amount of pride in his work and wanted to show it to me. That clinched it for me. I knew right then that I would hire him. Never having done this before, and also not sure exactly what I wanted done, he sat down and drew me many options of what could be done. He answered all questions patiently and described exactly what he had in mind and what would work for me and what would not. I was very impressed with his professionalism and manner. They began the next week(also impressive). Al and his crew were polite, professional, punctual, and never saw anyone even take a break. My new bathroom is beautiful and everything Al promised came out as terrific as he said. I would refer Al Paciotti and his crew in a minute, and would not hesitate to hire them again. Great job.
Description of Work: Total bathroom remodel. Shower was moved to another wall, installed a new sink in another location which meant tearing down existing linen closet. Installed wainscoting, painting of walls, installing new tile floors and putting up matching tiles around frame of the shower. This project also called for the installation of an exhaust fan, and reversal of a new bathroom door to allow easy access to the new re-positioned sink. Also involved was moving the toilet a few feet over to give entire room an open, easy flow.

AS FAR AS THE CLAIM THAT MY CREW SCRATCHED THIS CUSTOMERS TABLE, I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN AS HE CLAIMS. THE TABLE, AS WELL AS ALL OTHER BELONGINGS WERE COVERED WITH PLASTIC FIRST AND THEN DROPS CLOTHS. THE TABLE WAS ABOUT 100 YEARS OLD, MADE OF WOOD, AND HAD THOUSANDS OF SCRATCHES ON IT. WE COVERED IT THOROUGHLY AND DID NOT STAND ON IT, SO I'M NOT SURE WHERE THIS IS COMING FROM. AS FOR THE COST OF THE JOB, HE AGREED TO THE FEE, AND I FEEL THAT OUR PRICE ON THIS JOB WAS EXTREMELY LOW FOR THE TASKS AT HAND. OUR ELECTRICIANS BUILT HIM A CUSTOM LIGHT FIXTURE, BUILT TO HIS SPECS. ALSO WE PAINTED ONE ROOM FOR HIM FREE OF CHARGE AS PART OF A SPECIAL THAT WE RAN THAT MONTH. BEFORE WE LEFT THE JOB SITE, HE SIGNED OFF ON THE JOB, AND SAID HE LOVED EVERYTHING AND THAT HE WAS HAPPY. WE CLEANED UP THOROUGHLY, AND I ASKED HIM IF THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE I COULD DO FOR HIM, AND HE SAID HE WAS SATISFIED. THE WORK CAME OUT PERFECT AND WAS DONE IN A PROFESSIONAL AND TIMELY MANNER.

After a tenant moved out, I called Al to give me an estimate on the above work. My phone call was returned promptly. I first got an estimate on just the carpet and the repair/painting. Then I decided to add a new tub/shower. The estimate was a little out of my budget, but the work needed to be done. Sill, I think I got a good deal for the work that was done. The work was done with in a week and workmanship was top-notch and they left the unit as clean as they found it. If I was to pick nits, the only complaint I would have is that Al had to borrow an extension cord from me. Good work, Al!

Al made a good impression on us from the start by 1) returning a phone call the same day; 2)on the day of his consultation, he provided the estimate along with his list of references with phone numbers and a CD sample of his work. Al and his crew would show up when they said they would, completed their work days between 4-5 p.m and always cleaned up after themselves. They completed the job in the time he said he would. They were pleasant and courteous. When a couple of "hitches" arose, Al tried to find the best solution that was cost effective. Any changes to cost were discussed up front. We were very happy with the work that was done and plan to hire Empire Remodeling in the future.
Description of Work: Al and his team gutted an entire bathroom including the cast iron tub, sink, tiles, plaster and old fixtures/faucets, everything basically. Considering the home is 60+ years old, it went pretty well. A new tub, wall surround, new tile floor, wainscot, chair rail and vanity plus all the extras were installed. An exhaust fan and shower light were newly installed with proper venting through the attic. They applied finishing touches such as beautiful window and door trim, painting, baseboard molding and the door was re-painted. Despite the difficulty of working in an older home, Al and his crew transformed our moldy, ugly bathroom into a polished showpiece.

This is a small operation, so you benefit from the low overhead. All the money went into quality work and I got my money's worth. Al and his team were very neat, finished on time, and the work is guaranteed forever. Al is especially talented with tile. I highly recommend Empire Remodeling!

THE QUALITY WAS GOOD THEY CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES. I DIDN'T LIKE THE PRICING, IT WAS EXPENSIVE. THE PRICE CHANGED AFTER THEY CAME OUT. THE WORK WAS GOOD AND I'M GLAD IT TURNED OUT RIGHT.
