Paul was extremely punctual with quotes and responding to questions etc. The work went suprisingly quickly. Quality and workmanship was outstanding.

Paul was amazing! He responds to emails almost immediately. He provided a drawing and clear contract. He sent color samples. He and his worker came every day and worked in terrible weather. When he was done, I had a few concerns, and he came back and addressed them all without any arguing. As a woman living alone, I truly felt that he cared about making me happy and that I could trust him.

Great! Paul was very professional and accommodating, and actually started work about 2 weeks early. At the end of each day, everything was cleaned up...no debris anywhere. The old deck was torn down and removed, although the brick posts were in good shape so they could be used to support the new deck. It took only 4 more work days to put in the frame/support, put down the decking, and add the stairs, ramp, railings, and privacy screen. The result is a beautiful new space for outdoor living. I would definitely recommend Deck Specialists for adding or replacing a deck.

Finally found the time to write this review. First impression with the company was the website. Made a huge difference to us that general pricing was provided so we had an idea of what we were looking at for price. We had shopped around and found prices to be about in-line with others, maybe a little bit higher, but Paul had also made some suggestions where other contractors had not and that to us, was worth the slightly higher prices. Paul is very very responsive, I am not sure we waited more then a few hours for a response each time we contacted him. Job was started on time and wrapped up when expected. ****BONUS- In the middle of the job, I realized that there was a slight issue with the placement of the steps. I immediately brought it to their attention and worried that this would be an issue because they were so far into the project. No issue at all and it was immediately resolved with no problems. I thought that was pretty impressive and appreciated it. It turns out that the mistake ended up being a GREAT thing because we love the placement of the steps even more then what we originally had planned. They left the worksite clean at the end of each day and also at the completion of the project. Paul had made some suggestions when we first consulted with him and they really ended up making a difference on how the overall project came out. We have received dozens of compliments on the deck and did a bunch of entertaining this summer . Nobody wanted to stay inside. They all flocked to the deck ! Too bad Paul only does decks because I would use the company again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend !

Wonderfully!! They did an awesome job. The deck is beautiful and the price was much lower than the competitors. The guys were polite, here when they said they would be, and did not leave a mess. Wonderful craftsmanship!! I highly recommend them.

Paul and his crew did a great job replacing my old deck. Everyone was very responsive, Paul offered me lots of great ideas, the work was started and completely promptly. I am very pleased with the finished product - it exceeded my expectations and everyone who sees it says it looks great and is very well-constructed.

Paul, the owner, came out to take pictures and discuss the deck with me at my house. Nice guy. I did shop around a bit and found Deck Specialites to be very reasonable and the quality of their work is fantastic. I absolutely love the deck!! They also have one of the best websites I've ever seen, check it out. No hidden charges or anything and they built the deck when they said they would and in only 5 days, which is impressive to me. My new Azek Composite deck is in place of an empty space off my back door, weird that there were just a couple of step down to the grass off the back door. I compared samples with Paul on the other materials and went with composite because it's super low maintenance (just a power wash every year) and I have two very young kids (aka no splinters, etc). So all in all, great work and quality job well done. I'd definately recommend/use them again.

First request was to tear down old deck, removing all decking with nails and retaining old joists needed for landscaping project. First disappointment: old nail filled decking was saved and all the joists I needed were scrapped. Deck was constructed as scheduled. Very nice looking construction. Quickly done and we were very happy with the deck's overall appearance, though there was an overly wide gap between some decking boards. Work on the site a little sloppy...lots of junk tossed into our woods and 10 years later I'm still finding deck screws on the ground beneath the deck. Also, the deck was sealed in the rain (against my objection) and a landscaped pressure treated terraced stairway was used as a sawhorse resulting in a saw cut to a step . Our contract had a slogan that said "Quality Decks Built to Last a Lifetime" and a warranty clause that stated "pressure treated lumber is warranted strictly be the lumber company most of which is backed by a lifetime guarantee". In less than 10 years (not exactly a lifetime) the decking is warped and there are two twelve foot planks I can easily put my foot through. In April this year I began contacting Deck Specialist to help with this as almost every screw I tried to remove was stripped and needed to be chiseled out. Also, I feel they should replace these two boards. They returned none of my calls, but finally responded on May 18 to an e-mail using their website. In the response they wrote "Obviously the deck is out of warranty but when we can help out we do our best. I don't have a job going in your area and I am very short handed, I simply have no one to run out at this time. I can let you know when I get some on freed up but it probably will be several weeks". They also suggested I hire a handyman. That was about 12 weeks ago. I've called and written again, but with no response.

He started early may and was done in about 4 days total. All communication was via email and I didn't think about nor clarify certain details. All screw holes in the deck surface were visible and not filled in. I've seen many composite decks and all have the screw holed filled with a plug or something. I was not happy with his answer about leaving the screw holes visible. Inquire before starting the project. Overall, I am very happy with the finished product.

It went very well. Jeff called shortly after I emailed, inspected the deck within a day or two, and quoted a competitive price. We agreed to the terms and he came out about a week later and began the work. He returned the next day after the concrete had completely dried, and finished the work, including the extra steps as described above. He was always willing to describe what he was doing and answer any questions about the deck. He offered pointers on what could be done to improve the appearance of the deck but applied no sales pressure. If I end up having that done, I will ask Jeff to do it. Bottom line, no gimmicks, no missed appointments, he did what he said he would do (and more) and charged the agreed-upon price. I have no complaints.

Overall, the project went very well. Paul was quick in getting us a free quote, with drawings. He followed up well via email. He and his crew were very likeable and professional. His price was extremely competitive. The work was top quality and the final project looks great. I would recommend them to any one looking to build/replace a deck.

In April, I contacted Deck Specialists by phone. I reviewed their website. Someone came out to look at my property then sent me a very basic design. All details were worked out via e-mail. My project was scheduled for June and within ten days, the project was complete. We are very happy with the results.

Prompt and courteous. However, his quote was very high. About $15,000 for a simple deck.

Paul and his team did a great job designing and building our new deck. He was quick to respond to questions and provide a plan and quote. The entire process went very well and I would highly recommend him. Little details on the deck and the quality of the construction prove that these guys specialize in decks.

They were very good. I used upgraded material and it was more expensive than the plain pressure treated wood. I wanted to go with the upgrade. I think the estimate on the plain pressure treated wood was about $ 8000. I would use them again in the future.

Other than ordering wrong color materials at first, which caused a delay, the entire job went very well and the workmanship was top notch.

Overall it went very well. They were a little bit relaxed on the cleanup job. Their workmanship was outstanding. They were outstanding, very professional and did good quality work. It was very good experience.

Went very well, pretty funny we never actually met since I work all day so we communicated entirely over email. One day I came home and the holes were dug, the next day I came home and the piers were poured. The piers look fine and i have since built the deck on them which is sturdy. One of the bolts is ever-so slightly off center, but you get some wiggle room with the post bases anyway so it didn't end up being a problem at all When I compared the cost of buying concrete, renting materials etc, the difference i price between that and having the whole thing done was really not as high as I thought it would be.

Deck Specialists quickly responded to my request for an estimate and offered multiple options and designs. They are very willing to work within your allowed budget and offer many options of styles and materials. They also can provide many references and pictures of their work. Ultimately the 2 joined decks were replaced with a similar configuration with an updated design style made entirely of Ipe wood. It is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't be happier! It is exactly as I envisioned it from the paper design. The entire job, from tear down to final stair rails, took 5 days, and they were able to start sooner than expected. As I inspected each days work I noticed many small details in the construction that give much added value to the finished product. Much of the work is done off site so very little maintenance is required on site; but they always cleaned up each day. Their web site is a great place to start and has lots of information. I would highly recommend this company to anyone.
