Description of Work: He worked on heavy popcorn ceiling in living room and dining room. Removed popcorn, put on primer paint and 2 coats of finishing paint. He painted ceiling in kitchen and family room with 1 coat of paint (no popcorn there). Careful of furnishings and floor, cleaned up each day, pleasant to work with and am very pleased with the finished product. I would recommend this firm.

I like them because they think through issues I hadn't foreseen and bring them to my attention, then they take care of them. Jim makes my life easy. he is trustworthy, efficient, onetime, and does a great job.

+ -1 moreVery well. My husband and I have used Jim for 11 years for any number of painting jobs. He's painted the ceilings of a number of rooms, after removing the popcorn, he's painted several bathrooms, our bedroom, and several halls, as well as outdoor decks and exterior doors. My Dad sold paint, and was an expert house painter, so I have really high standards for quality, and Jim meets them. He always comes when he says he will. He is kindly, honest, easy-going, and a joy to have in the house. We have had other contractors, whom I have felt could not be trusted if I didn't watch them, but not Jim. He works hard, and jobs are completed in the time he estimates, and for the price agreed upon. We don't even bother with paper estimates anymore, because he is always true to his word. He cleans up thoroughly after jobs, and leaves everything pristine. I also have serious chemical allergies, and he has been outstanding in the way he works within the parameters of that. He is extremely careful not to bring anything into the house that could cause me a problem. We are planning to hire him again, to paint our Great Room, and the library.
Description of Work: Painted a 20' foot foyer, as well as repairing walls that had been damaged by wallpaper removal.

+ -1 moreWryn's company did an excellent job painting, however, they were unable to keep promises relative to the light contracting work I asked them to preform. Specifically, I asked them to install closet doors in the upstairs master bedroom. Apparently, they purchased doors that were too large, and refused to return them for the proper size. Therefore the closet doors were not installed as per our original agreement. They also failed to repair a ceiling fan, which was included in our original agreement. When I brought the inconsistencies to his attention, Wryn became insulting and argumentative. When I asked Wryn to be more respectful of my personal space and boundaries, (He was opening my refrigerator, going into rooms that he knew were off limits, and having contact with my animals which he knew was forbidden... One of my dogs mysteriously developed a corneal ulcer which the vet attributed to trauma after three of his workers chose to defy me and enter his space without permission. ) he told me I had a problem with men. He called me "haughty" and addressed me as "kid". Clearly he was unable to appreciate the fact that he was working for me. He also tried to charge me three hundred dollars above and beyond our original agreed upon price. There were times when Wryn came close to hysteria. I would not hire him or allow him in my home again.
Description of Work: Jim Wryn's company painted the master bedroom, bathroom and did touch up work downstairs. Addendum /2015. Apparently Wryn unplugged my space heater and removed my window air conditioner unit so that he could more easily paint the wall and window in my master bedroom. When he plugged the space heater back into the wall he added a surge protector. I had not used the surge protector with the space heater in the past and it immediately struck me as rather odd. But not knowing that surge protectors combined with space heaters create fire hazards, I let it go. However, later in the winter of 2013, the space heater overheated in the surge protector and almost caused a fire. Again, I had never used a surge protector for my space heater before but I assumed he knew what he was doing. Apparently not. Most contractors or painters know that using a surge protector on a space heater is a fire hazard. The instruction manual for the space heater warns against using surge protectors with their product. I am sure Wryn knew this and purposely used the surge protector with the space heater in order to take revenge. And I am sure as Wryn anticipated, the voltage from the space heater overwhelmed the surge protector and it began to melt down in the middle of a cold February night. Luckily I was awakened by my dog, noticed the surge protector and outlet about to burst into flames and I unplugged it before the house burned down. Thanks Wryn. Also, the following summer, the air conditioner which he re-installed in my master bedroom began to mysteriously leak and has caused an untold amount of water damage to the hardwood floors that I had just paid to have refinished. Wryn is destructive and dangerous. He also continues to harass me at the the church we both attend. This man is very bad news. DO NOT HIRE HIM. If he likes you, fine but if for some reason he feels you are not attending to his immature emotional needs he will take revenge. His crew hurt my dog and thanks to Wryn's negligence my house almost burned down. I believe with every fiber of my being that Wryn is a passive/aggressive, evil, man. He probably also falsifies his ratings.

+ -1 moreI thoroughly enjoyed working with Jim Wrynn Painting. I had a very difficult situation in that I had very short notice in which to paint my entire condo and make some repairs to a large wall. In addition, I was not living in the state and was not easily available to handle this job on site in the time I had available to get the work done. Jim and his son were immensely helpful! They immediately went in to provide me with an estimate, but were clear that they may not be able to perform the work in time, in case I wanted to get another painter. I said I wanted to stick with them as I so thoroughly enjoyed talking over the problems of my condo with Jim and getting his advice and support on how to get this done. When another job failed to materialize due to another contractor being behind schedule, Jim and his son immediately went to work on my condo. They painted, repaired, advised me on other issues I had and did it all with good humor and in a timely manner. Everything went extremely well. I enjoyed every minute working with Jim. He made me laugh, was a tremendous support during this process, and brought his good humor to all our phone calls. His is a family business and working with his son, and eventually meeting his wife was terrific! I cannot recommend them highly enough!
Description of Work: Jim Wrynn Painting did a beautiful job painting the entire interior of my condo, getting it done in record time, and offering very helpful suggestions re style and color. MOST IMPORTANTLY, they also rebuilt and refinished the face of the wall that had had mirrors removed, repairing the dry wall and adding new baseboards. Since I was not available to be there, they also helped with the contractors who were doing other work. They handled everything from start to finish, kept me apprised of any changes in the budget due to my additions, and did it all without my being on site at all. After the job was done, Jim even helped me find other contractors that turned out to be remarkable.
