I am responsible for overseeing the Property for our Church and have had problems over the past few years with minor leaks in our roof. Having a very limited budget, we often went to the lowest bidder or in some instances attempted to repair the leaks ourselves. However, last October a much more serious leak developed and after gathering several estimates decided to go with SJM. I had not previously heard of SJM and was very impressed with the time they took to understand the situation. Shaun from SJM took me up on the roof so that he could point out his concerns of the existing roof first hand. He showed me many examples on both the flat portions of our roof and shingled areas in which previous installers cut corners or just did not have the proper skills to do the job correctly. As I am the kind of person who wants the job done correctly, it was clear SJM was the best choice for our Church. SJM was contracted to replace the worst of the shingled sections over the Church Entrance and administrative office areas in the Fall of 2021. Because the rest of the roof was deteriorating to the point that it would also soon need to be replaced, SJM was contracted to replace the existing shingled roofs over our Sancturary and Fellowship Hall and a large portion of the flat roof over several classrooms in the Spring of 2022. That work was just recently completed and continue to be impressed with Shaun and his team. Shaun worked with us to hold material costs as low as possible and even agreed to purchase/hold the materials over the winter to help defray steep price increases due to supply chain issues. And when work commenced in April 2022, Shaun literally had an army of workers out each day of the project so that portions of the roof could be removed, the underlying roof structure could be repaired as necessary and then re-shingled within a day’s time. Throughout the project Shaun kept me well informed of any concerns uncovered after removing the shingles (or top layers of the flat portions of the roof) so that any necessary repairs could be made – and made correctly. The job was just recently completed and I could not be happier with the outcome. The new roof looks beautiful and have received many compliments. But best of all I know that the roof is now water tight. I found SJM to be extremely easy to work with and very professional. We run a Preschool out of our Church and Shaun worked with us to schedule the work so it would not interfere with either the Preschool activities or Sunday worship services. Shaun kept me informed over the week-long project, inviting me up on the roof and/or providing pictures of issues as they arose. God-Bless Shaun and his team.

First, the name of this company is SJM, not SMJ, and they are located in New London, not London. Angi will only let me submit a review for the mistakenly-named company. Shaun from SJM was very responsive, and fit the work in quickly to fix two leaking areas. He seemed very knowledgeable, the work was thorough and looks well-done. I am writing this reveiw during a Nor'easter, so far everything looks dry. I highly recommend SJM Roofing Experts.

They came in and removed the valleys, put in double ice dam, and wove shingles over the ice dam. They even matched the shingles beautifully and they kept to the original price absorbing the cost of the extra work required. They worked with me although I was not in the area and the work could not have gone better. The owner of the company, Shaun Mitchell, was great to work with and I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: They did a roof repair and replaced the cap. There were 6 valleys, it was a 12 x 12 pitch, and it was quite a complex job.
