The company started on time and made great progress until we found out that our flooring supplier would be a week or more late in getting the material delivered. Budget Dry worked diligently to get the issue resolved and they did.
Description of Work: This is not your "cookie cutter" basement waterproofing company. They are able to think outside the box and provide you with a basement makeover that fits your needs. Very professional work including clean up and removal of old materials and worked very well with a difficult supplier to get our flooring material which had been delayed.

Great (see above). I'll have to wait until the spring/summer to see how the dehumidifier works, but I sure from my experience with the purchase and installtion, it will work just fine.
Description of Work: I contacted a few companies re our damp basement. After researching the various products, I choose Budget Dry because of the reliability of the product (Santa Fe Advance dehumidifier), the product being made in America, the responsiveness of Budget Dry (a number of emails and phone calls to answer my questions), and the reviews of Budget Dry in Angie's List. They came out and inspected our basement. Gave a competitive quote. Answered all my questions. Installed the dehumidifier when scheduled. Were professional and curtious.

The bottom line of the project is that it was an excellent experience working with Budget Dry. The team that came out at the scheduled time and did the work were efficient, polite, and professional. The original design of the trench was to go around our boiler and water heater because of limited space between these appliances and the wall. Not to be deterred, the team managed to dig the trench behind these appliances, eliminating the need to bring the trench into the interior of the utility room. A pleasant and appreciated surprise. It was a nice demonstration of how the team went beyond our expectations, no additional charge. Indeed, there were no surprises, no unexpected costs, all was done per the estimate. Jump to December 17, 2012, when we had our first annual maintenance visit. Chris Kyttle came out to do our first inspection. He was thorough, checked everything out, took apart a couple things to make sure the pumps were working, that no parts were broken, he was patient with all my questions, explained things thoroughly, showed me some things...all in all a very good experience and deserving of our thanks and compliments. One more good experience in our relationship with Budget Dry.
Description of Work: We have lived in our home for more than 30 years. The house had an open sump pit and free-standing pump when bought, which was sufficient to deal with a high water table and water right-of-way under the house for most of those years. As construction built up in the neighborhood, and the house aged, the problem of water in the basement grew until water would come in through the walls, foundation, and under the flooring. After a particularly severe storm in 2011 and a very long day spent corralling the water from all areas of the basement into the sump pit, we decided it was time for waterproofing. We had six different companies come out and provide estimates, one company charging $50 for an estimate, all others no charge. Budget Dry offered the best solution and we found working with Marc Weinstein to be a comfortable and professional experience. Mr. Weinstein, representing the company, traveled from CT to NY several times to review the needs of the project, answer our questions, explain the nature of the proposed solution, and offer recommendations. He did not apply pressure of any kind, and was very competitive with final project pricing. At least three other competitors estimated significantly higher costs, a couple of which entailed far more complexity in the proposed solution than we could not justify. The project entailed digging a trench around the entire perimeter of the two-room (unfinished utility and finished family) basement, installing special tubing in the trench to collect and move water to the sump pump, and installing a curtain lining to capture water entering at the crease of the floor and walls. The trench feeds water entering the house into an enclosed sump pit with an industrial pump that pumps the water into the back yard through an underground pipe. They also installed a second, smaller battery-operated pump in a neighboring pit to protect the basement if power is lost and the primary pump cannot operate. The smaller pump feeds water into a separate pipe that opens out into the back yard above ground.

First of all, Mike Schmaling (Project Manager) was a true pro. He made a recommendation to fix a large crack on my basement wall. I thought the pricing was fair and fit my budget. Overall the job went very well. All work was done when scheduled. The people were professional and as neat as possible given the nature of the project. There was some problem with coordination (debris from the demolition was left on site) but when I mentioned this to the drainage installation crew they removed it. The restoration of the cellar walls was especially good with the crew doing more than was required to make the project a success.
Description of Work: Budget Waterproofing had to remove the bottom 3 ft of my finished basement walls, jackhammer the floor to expose the footing, install a drainage system and sump pump, recement the floor, and replace the studding and sheetrock. The basement was left ready to paint.

For literally years, my parents house has had a problem with water in the basement following a hard rain. I decided to get a professional opinion about how to solve it and called Budget Dry. The representative arrived on time and looked all around the basement and garage to assess the situation. He noticed that our chimney only had a cover on one flue, leaving the other exposed and that the leaders from our gutters were positioned too close to the foundation. Before suggesting any waterproofing by his company, he suggested that we address these two issues first and then see about going further. I was surprised there was no hard sell or pressure and decided to follow his advice. I hired a chimney expert to clean the furnace flue and add a cover. I also extended the leaders away from the foundation myself. Since making these two improvements, (total cost was less than $400), there has not been ANY water in the basement for the first time in 40 years! The basement is bone dry. Obviously I can't speak to their quality of work regarding waterproofing but I can thank them for their honesty and integrity. It was well worth the $50 estimate.

Thank you Member for your kind review. Repairing gutters and extending leaders sometimes works and sometimes it only provides a temporary fix. Once water has eroded that path into your basement, it is quite easy for it to return again. Though I hope your solution solves your problem, I would hold off investing in any finishing or carpeting or things of the like until you feel comfortable that you've completely solved this problem. Murphy's Law ALWAYS applies to basements. Please keep us in mind next spring when those new leaders are put to the test! Though I can't promise you a $400 solution, our solutions will not break the bank and come with transferable warranties, a great asset when you go to sell your home. -Your Project Manager Mike

Mike from Budget Dry met me at my house and inspected the situation. My case was an odd one since I had water coming up directly up from the floor. Mike was extremely professional and did not try any scare tactics on me as another basement waterproofing company did, nor did he waste my time in a science lesson about house foundations and water. He got right to the point and suggested a dehumidifier and that I did not need a sump pump. The water on the floor he thought was from the type of paint that was on the concrete trapping moisture (which he was right on that as well). I went ahead with the deal. Even after I made the deposit Mike was nice enough to answer my question about a concern I had with the installation (service after the sale). He was accommodating and professional. The installer, Chris, was also professional and very good. This Company is a class act and I would recommend anyone with a basement issue to go to them. I had another company try to sell me an entire perimeter drain system which I did even need and I owe it all to Budget Dry, THANKS!!

He tried to tell me I had him "confused" with another vendor - which was never the case. Rich from CT Basements was punctual, informative and very respectful. I was abused and harassed - and they never actually came to the house for the estimate!!!!! I can't imagine the horrific treatment a homeowner would get if you actually had them come to your property. The thing was - I didn't NEED waterproofing. I don't have a high water table - and once that was explained to me - I realized that I needed to address repairs without the invasive work that is done with installing a waterproofing system. This is an expensive job -when you start talking dehumidifiers - sump pumps with battery back-up and replacing walls - its 17000.00!! Be very careful - do your research -I found out that Budget Dry does not have a physical office with employees - they operate out of a UPS store in Guilford. If anything goes wrong with the work - where do you go??

I am afraid you are mistaken: You called us, set an appointment, had a terrible experience with another company and cancelled your appointment while our rep was on his way to your home. Our rep sent you an email just so you could have information on dehumidifiers and his contact information. You wrote the nastiest, most belligerent and unprofessional email I've ever seen! Using belittling personal attacks based on my rep's grammar and spelling is uncalled for! I do not see in any of our communication the use of profanity. You talk about us quoting you 16,000 in an email though we never gave a price and never would over the phone! Again Jackie, you have us mistaken. We've never been to your home, never sent a worker to your home, never had a phone conversation other than to make your appointment and then to cancel it. So our grammar may have been off but does that warrant an "F" on Angie's List? For everyone else, ere was our response that the customer has become so upset over: Jackie, Your “contractor” is misinformed and not properly educated in water management. You indicated in your initial call that you had water numerous occasions. The only guaranteed solution is what Michael presented. I think the question you may like to ask yourself is; Was Michael polite, professional, and knowledgeable? His grammar and spelling may have been incorrect but he is honest, sincere and tries to give every customer no more than what they need. I think you crossed the line with your reply. Maybe it wasn’t your intent . Possibly you’re a frustrated English teacher? Good luck with your basement and remember me next year when you get water. Ask your contractor if he will replace the walls the walls for free if he was incorrect?

We had noticed a leak in the basement. It did not seem to originate from the bathroom or kitchen. While watering the garden, we noticed that water was ponding around the foundation and there was some erosion at the corner of the foundation. We contacted Budget Dry. The person on the phone was courteous and efficient. We made an appointment for the next day. Mike, the technician, was late in arriving, but he called to let us know. After a quick review of the situation, he was able to diagnose the problem as being the roof vent, not the foundation. He was knowledgeable and very professional. If we do experience a foundation problem, we would not hesitate to hire Budget Dry based on this experience.

I called to set up an appointment to have my basement assessed. Water was coming through the base of the foundation and I was tired of cleaning it up. The scheduling was quick and painless. They told me that Mike would be at my home at a date and time and he was right on time, late on a Friday afternoon. He explained, in a manner that was very easy to follow and understand, why my basement was leaking and how they could fix it . The product looked like it would be well-suited to fix my issue and i was sold rather quickly into the presentation. The following Monday their office called me first thing in the morning to set up a time and date to complete the project. They were flexible and agreed to tackle the job later that week. They showed up exactly when they told me they would and finished the job in two days. The crew was very polite and knowledgeable, as I was told they would be. The finished product was exactly what I paid for and three weeks later, not a drop of water in my basement. My wife and I can finally USE our basement as a family room soon rather than just having half of a storage room. Everything from the initial phone call to the crew leaving when the job was finished was smooth and stress-free. Its a huge relief to have a dry basement.
Description of Work: Two sides of my basement, the back and left walls, were leaking at the base of the block foundation. A trench was dug along these two walls and a drainage system was installed with a sump pump to carry the water to the front yard. A drain was also installed at the base of the overhead bilco doors which carries into the same trench/pump. A small trench was dug in the front yard to allow the drain pipe to be laid and carry the ejecting water. The pipe that exits the house is conveniently hidden behind a bush so it isn't even an eyesore.

I called, asked for an appointment, and within days Budget Dry was in my house inspecting the basement. I had also asked to speak to local customers of theirs, and they gave me a link to the reviews on Angie's List for starters. The director said he'd introduce me to past satisfied customers, but thought that the reviews on Angie's List were better since they were unbiased. Budget Dry ultimately concluded that an interior solution was not what was required, so they couldn't help. This is amazing to me. They could have sold me a product/service that I didn't need, and I wouldn't have been the wiser, but instead they were honest enough to walk away without a sale. That's why I felt compelled to write this review. Kudos to Budget Dry!
Description of Work: I was really impressed with Budget Dry's management and field representative. The field rep thoroughly inspected the basement and the exterior of the house, and patiently explained everything. Then, to my surprise, he concluded that the solution required was exterior waterproofing, even though that's not a service Budget Dry can provide. THAT'S INTEGRITY!! Budget Dry was also very responsive over emails. In the future, I would recommend Budget Dry to others based on this experience, and all the good reviews I read.

We had been trying to determine what to do about these hairline cracks before they became a more serious basement problem. Carl & Mike came out to give us the background on the Budget Dry Waterproofing system and how it would resolve our concerns. The quote was reasonable, not the cheapest - but with the higher Angie's List ratings & Angie's discount, we felt much more comfortable going with BDW. The job was scheduled very quickly and only took 1 1/2 days as estimated. The work crew that carried out the installation were very professional, kept us up to date throughout the process and cleaned up nicely. Considering all the apprehension over having our basement floor jackhammered and he walls drilled through; we are extremely pleased with the quality of the work performed inside and outside the house.

It was a major chaos, but they did a beautiful job. The basement has been dry since they did it and that was in 2009. They did a magnificent job. It was a little expensive, but they did an excellent job. I did call other places as well and their price was a little better by a couple of hundreds, but they were all around that price. They were good for the price. Their quality was magnificent. I hope I don't need them again, but I would use them if I need to.
Description of Work: I used Budget Dry Waterproofing Inc. They had a pump put in and they dug all around the perimeter of the basement and took down a foot and then they put little rocks in there so that the water goes all around.

Our experience with Budget Dry was OUTSTANDING! Mike came out the day after we called, and took a look at our entire basement. His recommendations were spot on, he was professional and had a lot of great advice for us as homeowners. The system he recommended is fantastic, we love it. Any questions or concerns we had he addressed. Our work was schedule within the following week. The work crew that came were very COURTEOUS, EFFICIENT and PROFESSIONAL!! Their work was great and they kept everything spotless and clean! We would definitely recommend Budget Dry to anyone and we have already told all of our friends, family, and neighbors about them! Thank you so much to the entire organization!
Description of Work: We had a trench and sump pump installed next to our chimney.

We are pleased to hear that you had an outstanding experience with us. Did you know that a batter back up is a great investment because if the power goes out, the pump will continue to run. My house is close to a river and has a high water table. During last year's snow melt and subsequent rainstorms, my basement had 8-10 inches of water and 16-17 after Hurricane Irene.So... I finally bit the bullet and decided to try to remedy the problem. After meeting with several companies, I decided to go with Budget Dry. It seems that all of these companies offer a similar theory to solve the problem, but I liked the materials that Budget Dry used. The salesman, Mike, was very nice & after a short time we were able to negotiate a price within my budget. The work was scheduled within a week after the contract was signed and work was completed in 2 days with a crew comprised of 4 men who, incidentally, left my basement cleaner than they found it. The crew was led by Milton, and they worked very hard for 2 full days. The system seems to be functioning as advertised, however, the pump is a bit loud (much louder than my previous Zoeller pump) but it seems more powerful. Also of note, the company does provide a lifetime warranty with one property transfer. The sump pumps have a 3 year warranty.
Description of Work: A perimeter basement system was installed along with 2 sump pumps and wells. A 1' X 1' trench was jackhammered and dug out along the full inside perimeter of the basement. Stone and a plastic track were installed and then covered with more stone and then concreted over. Two new wells were dug (one was moved to a new location to replace the old well) and new pumps and new 1 1/2" pvc piping were installed.

Everything went very smoothly. Budget Dry gave a fair price for the work and did not inflate the work to be done as one of the other companies attempted to do. Before you get an estimate, you have to determine exactly what you want done. By doing this you would better control the price.
Description of Work: The basement was flooded during the tropical storm as a result of the power outage and existing sump pump not working for over 2 days. Another Company removed the water, removed the sheetrock, removed the damaged items and cleaned the floor. This was covered by the insurance. We used Budget Dry to add drainage under the floor, install 2 commercial sump pumps (1 is a bettery backup), and to replace the remove sheetrock that been removed. This was done in 2 stages. Waterproofing - Before we moved into the house over 32 years ago, the prior owners had curtain drains installed around the inside perimeter, added a sump in an open hole, and raised the floor about 5 inches. At that time, they also had the water from the sump pump go through the other drain pipes in the house. We live in an area (100 feet above sea level) that has a high water table in the ground. As a result of the tropical storm, there ended up being about 4" of water in the entire basement. We spoke to a few waterproofing companies. Without digging up around the house, etc. none of the companies do true waterproofing. They add draining systems and stronger pumps. We had 3 companies at our house. Since the house already had curtain drains, only one wall around the chimney was getting additional water. And the water was coming up from inside the base of the chimney in the basement. To repair the chimney would have cost a fortune. The next option was to add addition drains. One company said they only do the inside of the exterior walls. The second company wanted to redo the curtain drains and add additional drains around the base of the chimney (8' X 5'), add drains around the furnace and add drains around the oil tank. They would also add commercial pumps. The cost of this was very high. We felt we were beng taken for a ride. Budget Dry added the curtain drains in a 8 foot section near the chimney, and added drains connecting to the existing sump pump area. They also installed 2 commercial pumps. One is a battery operated and will run for a number of hours during a power failure. They connected the other curtain drains to the sump pump. So now, the curtain drains that were installed over 30 years ago and the new drains go into the same sump pump are. They also closed the sump pump area so that you no longer see the water. The water from the 2 pumps now exit onto the lawn instead of going into the sewer system, which is generally illegal. The price of this part was about $3600. The largest portion was for the commercial pumps. Due to the water level in the ground, for a while, the pump went on every 10 minutes for about 10 seconds. The previous pump would stay on for about 10 minutes each time. Now, the pump is going on every 30 minutes for about 10 seconds. If there were another power failure, and assuming that the pump went on for 10 seconds every 10 minutes, the back up battery operated pump would run for about 24 minutes per day and probably could last up to week. In the 34 years we are living in this house, this was the first time we lost electricity for more than a day. The workers did an excellent job and we have not had any problems. This part was not covered by the insurance. Walls - Budget Dry replaced the sheet rock that was removed as a result of the water damage. They replaced the sheet rock, taped the walls, etc in the livable area. They made it ready to be painted. This part cost about $2,200. The workers did an excellent job. This part is also covered by insurance. The insurance will also cover the painting of the walls, replacing the floor moldings and door moldings etc.
