+ 0 moreI got my kitchen renovated and I had my heart set on white carrara marble, despite my contractor's reservations. The contractor recommended many marble/granite dealers but I was not happy. Pistritto was a walk-in. They listened carefully, gave a quote within 5' and finally installed a most beautiful white carrara marble piece as countertop in my kitchen. It almost looks like statuary. have used it for a year, still looks great. The people at Pistritto were confident about the marble, having used it in their own house for several decades. They understood my reluctance to use granite (it shines too much and looks too new). I expect my marble countertops to age gracefully, very appropriate for a 60 year old house. Their prices are reasonable, the advice excellent.

+ -1 moreBadly. In short - and as you can gather from the account above, we made a poor choice in Pistritto. An example of their pricing was they charged $400 labor for adding a sink.
Description of Work: Replaced formica kitchen countertops with granite. Sad to say we picked Pistritto for the job. The installation was sloppy and I had to reshim areas of support that were poorly done and had to add moulding in the open areas left under the granite. We also discovered several cracks in the granite shortly after installation and more appeared later. We asked about the first to appear but were told this was simply the normal appearance of granite. We were very disappointed in the workmanship of the job in general and perhaps the worst part of it was the seam between two major parts of the top. It is a rough, irregular line which is, unhappily, very noticible. After my complaints they made an attempt to repair it but with no improvement. In addition the backsplash sections were not given the additional finishing we selected and paid for. They did, after our complaining, refund the extra we paid but we ended up with a finish we didn't want.

+ 0 moreWe ended up with a very noticeable gap between the granite counter top and the cabinets beneath. Also, one of the two seams in the granite counter top is noticeably uneven. Needless to say, we were disappointed given that we had chosen this company for its expertise over cost. When we complained we were told that the cause was that the cabinets were uneven and that was not the company's problem. We think we should have been give this information at the time of the pre-measurement. Pistritto may be a good place to purchase granite and especially marble but we cannot recommend them for installation work given our result and their response. In fact, we were supposed to have them install a travertine tile backsplash at a later time but we found another company who did an outstanding job and for one third less than what Pistritto wanted to charge us.
Description of Work: We selected this company to remove our old formica counter tops and replace them with granite. We had comparison shopped and thought that even though the quoted price was high compared to two other contractors, we thought that Pistritto had more expertise and we would end up with a superior result. We paid extra to have the company come out and pre- measure so that the removal of the old counter tops and installation of granite would occur on the same day and to make sure the installation go smoothly.

+ -1 moreWe visited Pistritto's showroom and Sabrina, the family sales representative was thorough in explaining the process of purchasing and installing a granite countertop. We were given samples to bring home with us to assist us in making a selection. When the decision was made we were able to look at a complete slab of granite and they marked the area we wanted our two countertops cut from. The installers came to our home and measured the counter areas for correct size and mounting. We were impressed with the company as it was not necessary to have the old countertop removed for them to take the measurements for the new countertops as other companies required. Everything was installed in a timely manner without any problems and we were happy and completely satisfied with the whole installation. They are a family business and we would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed new granite counters in our kitchen. One counter had a cut out for an undermount sink and faucet. Other granite top was for a free standing cabinet.
