I've been a loyal customer for 20 years, yet Cox won't come and run new cable (which has got to be 2-3 decades old in certain parts of the house). I get tiling and errors all too often. Other than not replacing the cable wire and the excessive cost, I would give them an A+ for the variety of services they offer and the ability to pick and choose the specific services I want. Each year the price goes up, I cut one of my services trying to keep the bill below 200 dollars- but I cannot get what I need for below $200 so I'm looking to change to another provider within 60 days.

Compared to other cable Internet providers, I found Cox to be easy to work with and to provide good value for the money. There was no charge for burying a feeder line several hundred feet through the woods and a steep, gravel driveway to reach the house. The engineering staff said that if the line didn't provide the advertised speed, they'd come out and do it over again at no charge as well. This wasn't necessary. The line was buried with a slit-trenching system. Within a month of completion, it was impossible to tell where the line had been installed (except for the spray-painted "call before you dig" lines, which of course took a while to grow out of the grass, but that's a necessary, unavoidable safety precaution). The installer was reasonably prompt and very courteous. Compared to contracted installers for other cable companies, this contracted installer was a definite step up. However, he didn't have the best equipment for the job with him. This seems typical in the industry, where the initial installation is outsourced: the installer has little margin and thus doesn't get good tools. The work was done carefully. There were no problems using a cable modem I provided (which was on Cox's approved list), or with connecting my atypical home network via my router. (Some cable companies insist that you directly connect one computer, preferably Windows, to the modem for installation. None of that silliness with Cox.) No special software was required to use the service or obtain a cox.net email address. It's all done via a website. I ordered the Ultimate tier, which was 50Mbps at the time of installation. Several weeks later, Cox increased the speed to 150Mbps at no additional cost. Speed tests have consistently shown that I receive at least 150Mbps, and often receive 165Mbps or more. The service includes access to cable wi-fi access points in various locations, both those run by Cox and those from other major cable companies including Comcast and Time Warner. My experience with the Cox access points has been mixed; when they work, they work fine, but they do not always seem to work right from an iPad. The price for 150Mbps service is reasonable compared to other cable providers in other areas; for instance, Time Warner charges the same for their 50Mbps service. However, I cannot give top marks for price because I've worked in the industry and I know what the profit margin is on this service. For instance, where Google Fiber is available, for less money one can get 1Gbps (1,024Mbps) service PLUS television service for less than Cox charges just for 150Mbps Internet. If Cox's pricing were more proportional to that, it would be straight-A service.
Description of Work: Provided high-speed Internet service, including installation of new underground cable line to address not previously serviced.

I would recommend them if the price didn't keep going up. I have a bundle deal and it has doubled in price since I started with them
Description of Work: COX CT TELCOM LLC installed my cable and internet 2 1/2 years ago. They installed the wires and hooked up the cable to make sure everything worked. I have phone, cable and internet through them.
