Lafata & Son Inc

The owner is a joke. Anthony Lafata promised to be here to do the job and he had to be called constantly to remind him that he hadn't finished it. He promised he would have all of the town permits "because he has worked in Guilford for 50 years". When our neighbor inquired with the town, we all found out that he did not have ANY permits. Then, when the project was finished, he showed up at our door demanding payment immediately - but it took him FOREVER to do the work. When the work was FINALLY finished, we had to have another company come in and fix what Lafata did. It was a mess - the pool that we put in would have slid off the site with the way he did it. In the end, the new company took out the permits and did it properly - we had a building inspector check it both times - which is how we knew the work done by Lafata wasn't good. When the project was finished initially, Anthony showed up on our doorstep demanding payment of the balance - we explained that we would pay him upon approval of inspection by a building inspector. He became belligerent, nasty and threatened us. He wouldn't leave until we threatened to call the police. STAY AWAY FROM HIS COMPANY! I wish someone else had posted on Angies list because we wouldn't have gone with him as our contractor! Professionalism? NOPE Quality work? NOPE Work with him and his company again? HECK NO!!!!!
