Coastal Chimney and Masonry

It was horrible. It took 3 weeks to get in touch with Brent to schedule repairs etc. He never answered our calls. Finally as we’re were walking out of our home, he shows up in our driveway unannounced to start work. We told him that today was not a good time, but he said he could come back the next day...which he did. He did the mortar and pointing, but put the cap on the wrong side, and never ordered a damper. He told us he would order it and would be back in 2wks to install it and show us how to use it. He collected his money for the work that was already completed but never came back with a damper. It’s been 2.5mth and we haven’t heard a word from him. Numerous phone calls were made and he never returned one. He also told us our chimney was very clean. Come to find out, the chimney is actually very dirty and could have a chimney fire if the fire place was used. This guys is a flake and can’t be trusted. He can’t be trusted. Lies lies lies. He screwed us out of $750. Today I filed a complaint with consumer protection.

Played a little bit of phone tag initially setting up an appointment to meet (it was a holiday weekend), but once Brent showed up to the house, everything went smooth. From previous inspections, I already knew my chimney needed a liner; he inspected it himself, gave me a quote and told me it would take a week to get the liner/parts. Sure enough, the liner/parts showed up a week later, he completed all of the work in one day, and for the price he quoted me. Would definitely recommend Brent Barker and Coastal Chimney and Masonry.

We hired Brent again this time to replace the Brick and flashing around the Chimney liner from the roof up because we were having water seepage issues due to the age and wear of the existing brick. I called Brent in early February to see if we could schedule something for mid spring since I knew winter would not be the best time to do the work for him. He told me to call him in early March to schedule it so I put a note in my phone to remind me to call him in early March. Only I didn't have to. He called me at the end of February and said he had been thinking about my roof every time it rained and wanted to take care of it sooner rather than later. He said that the weather was going to cooperate for mortar setting the next day and he could get it done. I told him absolutely do it and I greatly apprecieated him getting right out and taking care of especially knowing how busy he is. While he was here I had inquired to him about placing a chimney trap in the basement as there was never one installed. I didn't expect him to do it now but at some point in the future. He said why don't I just do it now while I am here and I should sweep the chimney as long as I'm going to do that as well. He only asked for an extra $150 to do both of these things. That included the cost of the cast iron trap. I'm so glad he did because the stuff he took out of there was crazy. I realized that I have been paying a local Oil/Furnace repair company a lot of money every year to clean out my furnace and chimney area only to find out that they have barely been cleaning anything. Needless to say I will be switching providers. Anyways Brent is the owner and performs all the work himself he shows up when he says he will and does what he says he will and is extremely reasonably priced. I will continue to reccomend him to anybody looking for any kind of chimney work or any masonry work for that matter. Our chimney came out great and now I don't have to go up in the attic every time it rains to see how much water was coming in.

They were awesome. He was on time and returned my calls. He was very diligent. He doesn't like to recommend other companies because the end result might be unsatisfactory.

Brent Barker (owner) arrived on time and was very friendly. He inspected both chimneys and told me I was in need of a cleaning and thoroughly explained how and why my chimneys got this way. Brent set to work and had both chimneys completed in just over an hour. In addition to his fast, professional cleaning, he gave me good advise as to how to keep my own chimney maintenance current. We discussed the overall job and made arrangements for him to return in the spring to install a cap. Overall teh entire experience was fantastic! I highly recommend Coastal Chimney and Masonry!

Brent is extremely personable, thorough, prompt, and professional. He performed the work neatly and in a timely manner. His price was very competitive and was more than happy to do some extra work at no charge.

There is not much i can tell, Larry was punctual and polite. He made a comment about e-mail not being the best way to contact him. He came to the house by 8 am and we reviewed the job while looking at the outside of the house. Then i showed him the architects plans with the specific job details. He questioned the architect's use of copper underground and then suggested different material. Two weeks later Hurricane Sandy came through devastating the shoreline. That was 2 weeks ago and I have not heard from him as of yet.

Brent from coastal chimney came over to inspect my chimney and to clean/sweep. Brent was very professional, and very knowledgeable in his trade. He is very honest in his findings, and price was very reasonable for work performed. He does not try to sell you things you dont need and will give you a detailed inspection sheet. Would highly recommend brent for any chimney needs.

Brent from Coastal Chimney and Masonry came out to the house, met with us and gave us recommendations on relining our chimney and replacing our chimney cap. We had received two other estimates, including one from our oil company and another that recommended that we coat the exterior of our chimney with a waterproofing solution for an additional $350.00. Coastal Chimney and Masonry was very responsive, showed up as planned and on time, and completed the work on schedule within a week of the initial estimate. Brent answered all our questions, explained the pros and cons of several possible lining materials and gave us information about why coating the exterior brick was unnecessary. We were very pleased with the entire transaction and recommend Brent without reservation.

We were very pleased with the service Brent provided. He is very easy to talk to and he left no stone unturned in describing the work he was doing and why. There were a couple of delays that were unexpected on Brent's schedule, but overall I thought the work was done in a timely fashion and the cost was below what I was expecting. I would definitely recommend Coastal Chimney!

I called this company and we set up an appointment, but they never showed up for that scheduled appointment. I called them, and they told me they forgot to turn the calendar.

Excellent experience. don't know the age of the chimney, but I could see it rellyt needed work(the house was buit in 1896). Brent came out to the house, went onto the roof before he gave me an estimate. Price was very good compared to another estimate I had gotten, which was estimated from the ground. Work was done quickly and very neatly. I would highly reccommend them.

They were just amazing and brilliant. They gave us a very fair quote, and they were very professional. The person did what he said he was going to do and did it on time. I was very pleased with the work he did. The quote was lesser than the quote we received from others. They quality of work he did was very good, and he knew what he was doing. He also cleaned the chimney and some other work around the roof of the chimney. He did a very good job. I would rate him an A+ overall. He was topnotch. He gave me his private number so that it was easier for me to contact him. He came sooner than he said he would come and finished the work earlier that he said he would. I recommend him highly.
