About us

Your home will be inspected & documented w/annotated phots provided to show what has made it in and how including but not limited to water in your basement, mice, bats, flying squirrels. In addition, This will help you understand what needs to be done to stop them from getting inside in the first place and then we can professionally seal it with non-chewable materials. We service lower Fairfield County, CT and parts of Westchester County, NY. Brian’s career in the pest control business began over 25 years ago. He spent three years in the southern United States learning from a world-renowned entomologist (among others) and helped start the Sentricon baiting program for termites with Dow Elanco. Brian advanced through the field to eventually run a major sales force and acquired a distinctive edge in the business. Through this experience, Brian realized he wanted to return to his home state of NY and create his own niche in the rodent control market. He developed a highly successful approach, rejecting the easy but environmentally unsound approach of poison – and instead relying on hard work, common sense, and the correct materials to prevent rodents from entering people’s homes in the first place. Fast forward a few years, and Brian began to realize there were additional niches in this area that needed to be more friendly towards the environment and the clients’ health. He therefore co-invented the Enviroboot® Dust Suppression System to help control the toxic silica dust that is produced when concrete is broken with a jackhammer. The result was a reduction in toxic dust greater than 97% according to the EPA and was awarded the 2006 US EPA CLEAN AIR EXCELLENCE AWARD. Brian M. Sweig has a special set of skills and licenses in NY and CT including Nuisance/Wildlife, Home Improvement, and Home Inspection (CT), Mold Assessment and looks forward to helping make your home a better place for you and your family.

Services we don't offer

General exterminating, placing dangerous poisons in your home! Generally the foolish things that most companies offer just to make a buck. We never use foam to seal homes as it does not hold up for very long. Home or bank inspections. Inspections or services concerning apartments, multi-residential as it's not possible to get 100% sealed. We also do not inspect non-owner occupied homes as renters do not have authorization to modify homes permanently. Inspection for lawsuit purposes.

Description of Work: Inspected house for access points and provided a number of pictures. Also provided advice on other home inspection related issues. Overall, Brian took his time, was very professional and it was money well spent but I found the $5k estimate excessive based on other estimates and it lacked sufficient specifics.

I have learned over the last 20 years that I won't seal every home I inspect for various reasons but I enjoy finding the faults in homes and educating consumers. The clients that choose us live rodent/ bat free longer as we use the correct products and spend the time it takes to seal every 1/4 inch space around your entire home. Nothing is more frustrating than spending money and not achieving the goal of no critters, I work on other companies seals on a regular basis and find foam in the can it silicone that is not meant for the exclusion process. Brian took control immediately, educating me on the types of animals present, what it means, how to get rid of and while searching, noticed other house "issues" and gave recommendations. Description of Work: Inspected the house for bat entry and found some trouble spots as well. Very knowledgeable and professional, and gave some very good recommendations. Further work involves sealing the house against all entry points and would like to continue but can't afford it for now so trying to save up for it.

Description of Work: Brian was great. He was very helpful on dealing with our issues (BATS! - also mice and yellow jackets!). He made several recommendations on other issues as well and helped us on some ventilation and moisture issues in our basement area. He has been a great resource and has been very good on follow ups. Will use Brian again if we need to and for a followup after some minor construction!

Description of Work: He inspected the attic from outside the opening and reported seeing animal droppings. He looked at the roof from all angles. He recommended a very expensive service that I will not use. If I decide to follow up, I will find a less expensive solution... maybe just shoot some poison into the attic. I have no theard any more noise since then.

Description of Work: I purchased the Big Deal inspection. Brian was very professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. I have already engaged him to perform the sealing. I gather my only disappointment is that it can take up to 45 days from contract to start the process (hoping it doesn't take that long). Second review to follow once the sealing is completed.

Hello all, So I know as a company response some say it is wise to simply take it in stride and say sorry- let's look at the facts though. Clients husband was the one home and was on the phone 99% of the time. Client did Not have bats inside the attic which is what I was asked to assess and then was consequently asked to give a preventative sealing quote with the new knowledge that the Rake boards at the top of the home were going to be changed out- I gave a quote( yes it took me some time to send info) and here we are many months later with a less than stellar review. I reached out to the lady of the home who actually made the appointment to see if I could have a less harsh grade but have not heard back as of yet. Make no mistake I am far from perfect and I know there are several inspections I was tardy on getting the quote to the potential client, but the clients (many) who have contracted Thoroughspect show 100% satisfaction with our work and that let's me sleep very well.
