Several days after the initial pour, around, we had light rain and because of the incorrect slope of the slab, water pooled adjacent to the house at a cellar window. I reported Michael D. Sandman the owner of Granby Concrete Floors and he came to see the pool of water and then sent a workman to cut a grove in the cement alone the stairs to the kitchen patio. I accepted this solution tentatively as it seemed to conduct water from the house and visually was not too noticeable. However, unless this grove is not kept perfectly clean water backs up so that I must assure that before and during a rain it clear. In the event of heavy rain, something we have had abundantly this summer, the small drain does not work and water runs under the breezeway, pools and overflow the garage sill and the flows into the garage. I have reported this to Mr. Sandman many times and have not had a reply. Also, within a couple of months of the replacement, the slab cracked. I also reported this to Mr. Sandman and also have not had a reply. The consequence of the cracking is that winter freezing will in several years, rather than 40 years, require its replacement. As a consequence of the above, I would advise anyone thinking of using Granby Concrete Floors to avoid my experience by fining another more capable and responsive contractor.
Description of Work: I contracted with Granby Concrete Floors, HIC.0562429, to replace a cracked slab approximately 12 feet by 13 feet. See diagram, page 3. The work was accomplished between September of 2007 and an amount $1,864.00 paid.
