The good: Rod does visually impressive work. He creates custom built soapstone woodstoves and the one I have dose through a lot of heat. The bad: The end product is not well thought out. In order to avoid creosol build up he demands that you light the stove and burn your wood with a fully open flu in order to create max heat and burn any possible creosol, after that simply let the heat stay in the stone. This is very inefficient, very wasteful of wood and your heat level goes from roasting to cold rather quickly.Rod is possibly one of the worst people I have ever spoken to: rude, arrogant and does not accept any responsibility, translation- does not stand behind his work.If you are going to have him build you one- don't- buy a woodstove instead; Rod will charge you $150 just to walk through your door.
Description of Work: The previous owner had this stove built into the house Rod is the builder of it; so I inherited it. My issues the chimney he built is too short so blowback is an issue he caulked the cap on making cleaning difficult until I had to change it. his poor chimney construction has caused leaking. I had contacted Rod on a number of occasions, though I have stopped now, to ask questions about the unit. He never failed to be rude and condescending, but did offer to come and look at any problems with his work for the cost of $150. In the end I did find an individual from Goshen that has done excellent work and has helped me to clean up Rod's mess
