Gilberto responded in minutes to my initial inquiry, showed up at the agreed upon time, and his workers were professional, pleasant, and did excellent work. The finished product looks great and the price was as agreed upon. Highly recommend Pedro's Mason Contractor.

He came, he was fair, and he was respectful. He was our first call and we ended up taking the last people that we called. He responded quickly and he was professional.
Description of Work: Pedro’s General Contractor gave me a quote for a big landscaping and masonry project in our front yard.

. In 2009 April he had done our cement and stone steps outside. This past winter was really bad and we had to use salt on the steps. This caused it to fall apart. I contacted the contractor and he said that since he guarantees his work he will come back and he came back and he repaired them completely with no charge. We had done these steps four years ago. The rise or the back of the steps is cement and it is in an unprotected location. We did do repair once before. The cement crumbles. The steps themselves are slate so, that does not crumble but the cement backing the riser crumbled. He told me why this was happening, I forget what he told me. But he repaired it and they fell apart the following year. I did not even call him back. A couple of years later my neighbour had this guy and he happened to look in and he said it could be because of water there, and there is a corner that stays damp plus it could because we are using ice melt as it really eats way the concrete and it drips down the front of the steps not affecting the slate too much but it eats into the cement. So it is two winters and the last winter we used a lot of ice melt. So he recommended we re-do the steps in stone. When he came he said that the first guy had just patched the cement. So he broke down the cement and put in the wire, the grind that holds everything. He is knowledgeable. When he did that it was nice and all the steps had been pulled and re-done with the wire holding the cement. Two years later it is starting to crumble and you see the wire behind it. I know he did the job right but maybe he used the wrong kind of compound. But my point is whatever the problem with these steps whether it is cerement, whether it is the construction of it, he really thought that there is something wrong because the previous owner was a Do It Yourself type of a person. Whatever the problem is I like him because he came back looked at it and he repaired it at no charge. It looks very nice. I told my husband that if it happens again we have to pull this down and build it the right way because there is obviously something wrong. He came back and said that it could be a problem from underneath as we can see water sitting on the top step and if it is allowed to sit there it is going to eat in. There could be problems there and he could replace the whole thing. The guarantee work of doing it all over again was done in June 2011. I liked the fact that he was so responsive. He gave me his cell phone number and his name is Gilbert Arbelaez. He is excellent. The original job he came for, he was punctual and did it very professionally. They cleaned up after themselves. They were courteous. The second time he did it he dropped a crew off and I thought they would be here for an hour. They were here for four hours. They were here for half a day, at least two men, cleaned up and walked away and I have not heard from them again. It is done. Whatever my problem is, it is not his work that is going to fall apart, I think it is the construction of the steps. I think his work is really good. When I asked him to do the work for the first time he gave me estimates for what I wanted. He is a sales man too. He thought he could replace my pavers also since they are sunken and they puddling when it rains. I did not want to do any of that. But it was nice that he gave me a very detailed proposal of three different approaches to my problem. Price wise it is hard to compare. I will use this contractor in the future.

This job was a do over and this time we hope it has been done the right way. A previous contractor, just a year ago, "repaired" the cracked cement and slate "joins". The job looked great but what we didn't know was that since he didn't use wire mesh it all fell apart. Over the winter, we were shoveling snow AND crumbling cement from our steps. Pedro's Contractor blasted out all the old cement, installed wire mesh and new concrete over the whole stairway. They blasted out the old joinery and re-did that as well. I guess I can't be sure the job is perfect until we go through another winter and salt on the steps. I particularly liked that Pedro gave me 3 estimates, one for just the steps, and two others for some patio work he thought I might want to consider. He was also efficient about his time and kept in touch with me when the job was delayed due to rainy weather. Clean crew.
Description of Work: Removed existing broken cement joins and stucco from the sides and front of 5 slate steps and landing of the main entry to our house and constructed new ones using wire mesh and type N cement.
