Mr. Handyman of Upper Fairfield County

They were on time and they were very straightforward. He offered me some different options as far as what could be done or not done, so it was good. I would use them again. He didn't make any major repairs. It was just a lot of stuff that I didn't know how to do. The work that he did do was good. It was all in place. He was very polite and he explained everything. He was right on time which I really like. I hate waiting around for the contractors. He was highly professional.

Only issue was an over estimate on man hours. It worked in our favor because our service provider asked if we needed helped with other items & helped with few minor fixes, but I think he lost out on planned project hour.

The work done was fine. But be careful with these guys. They are aggressive pricers. They charge for materials and then charge for a van restock of $25. When I asked what that was and why it was not covered in materials, I did not get a very clear answer. Then they charged $25 for a dump run. I am not real sure what they took from the job as we kept the old gutter and I found the few broken shingles that were replaced in the trash. They also charge a gas surcharge. Given that gas prices have been in the same range since about 2006, this just seems like another way to get their hands on your money. Finally their markup on materials is excessive, far about the 20% most contractors charge. And unless you ask, they try to take the extra unused materials with them. The gutter we were replacing was copper. If I had not asked the excess gutter of 4 ft would have ended up in the Mr, Handyman van. Also be careful. You can become a Mr Handyman member and get a discount. But unless you bring it up, the workers will not give it to you or ask if you are a member. Happily they do decent work but the price jamming is excessive.

The work was great and it looked great, they are a bit pricey. They are are professional, cleaned up and did a good job. The work was covered under my insurance, and I had to get almost twice as much money out of my insurance people, then what the insurance company, initially estimated it would cost. So they are very expensive, but very professional, very clean, very on time, they kept to their schedule and I have no complaints there.

They were awesome. They were prompt and friendly. Their price was under budget and they were very professional.

For 12:00 appointment, was at the door, totally prepared at 12:02 (perhaps my clock was 2 minutes fast and it was, actually 12:00 to the second). Handyman made sure that both jobs were done exactly the way I wanted before starting each one. Rick, the Handyman, had a very polite and agreeable attitude. Work was completed completely correctly.

I made my appointment for 7am and confirmed that they would be here on time. I work in the city and needed to leave by 8. They knew this. By 735 I called them upset no one had showed up yet. No one was in the office yet to answer my call... Finally get a call back ten minutes later and they tell me they put the wrong date for the estimate so they just completely wasted my time. If they can't handle making appointments I would not trust them to change a lightbulb.

They had Guy come out and he was friendly. He is somebody you would not mind having to sit down and having dinner with. I mean, he was really very, very friendly, got right to work. He did good quality work but was very quick. They set up the follow up appointments right there, called it into the office. It was not one of those things that had to wait until they got back and then call the office. He took care of setting up the appointments for me, came back the similar time. He even took the time to sign me up for their plan so that it would not cost me as much while he was out here so I was very, very impressed with the work and I would use them again. I think it depends on who is doing the work as to who shows up in the house. My understanding is that the person who came out here was their taping specialist. They got it done quickly and he got back and did whatever he had to do once he taped the areas up. I think that everybody can do everything, but when you tell them exactly what it is you need over the phone I think they try to get the person out there who can do that job. I do think that they were very responsive.

The experience went very well and very good.

They do fantastic work (this coming from a professional in the field at one time). The two people that worked on my facility both had decades of experience. They worked hard, did a quality job, showed up on time, and charged exactly what they said they would. I would definitely use them again. That said, the are VERY expensive. They do offer discounts for longer term jobs, but prices usually range from about $92/hr to $170/hr. It's not cheap. That said, you KNOW they will show up and you know they will do the work. My only other complaint is that if the job takes an extra hour or two they won't be able to stick around.

It was a miserable experience. I had hurricane damage. The man that came in kept adding on to the expenses. When they took the washing machine and dryer away from the wall when they put them back they forgot to reattach the water to the drain - resulting in water spilling on to the brand new floor. They refused to accept responsibility.

I decided not to do the job that I received the quote for. He was on time for the walk through and his prices were very reasonable. And he is very professional and very good about following up on jobs.

It went great. The handyman arrived on time and kept working throughout. I had lots of little things that I don't think are much fun for a handyman, but he did them all quickly and well. I was very happy with his work and attitude. He left everything very clean.

As the weather got colder, it was apparent that our house was losing heat left and right. We called Mr. Handyman and asked for an energy audit. Skip and Michelle immediately got back in touch with me, and Michelle took us through the process. After the audit, she pointed out many things about our place that we just had no idea about (we had just bought our place and the inspection person only pointed out things that he could see, not necessarily everything about the house). They gave us a detailed proposal with itemized prices. Basically, we had to insulate our kitchen completely (3 walls, and subfloor), because it was a new addition, and had no insulation whatsoever. In addition, we had to put down a whole new insulation in our attic, build an attic box, and perform other tasks. We were immediately comfortable with their level of service and contact. We asked them to begin the work. They came when they were supposed to. They cleaned up after themselves. When we had small issues with this or that, they got back to us within a day, and fixed the issues within two days. Overall, the quality was excellent, the price was fair and the responsiveness and attention to detail was excellent. The question is, why can't every service provider be like Mr. Handyman? Honestly, moving to New Canaan, I am severely underwhelmed by the responsiveness and attention to detail from many, many other service providers (especially the electricians and some of the landscaping companies). I wish Mr. Handyman did more things, because then I wouldn't have to call anyone else when I need to get things done.

The worker was very efficient, and did his job well. The boss had good communication. He had a set price but he gave me a sale price and said if I used his service again I would get a discount.

The handy man finished one job quickly and offered to do more to complete the time allowed & was able to do some drywall repairs as well....not many places you can have the same person do some electrical work AND then do some drywall repair.

I found Mr. Handyman of Upper Fairfield County on Angie's List and hired them based on the positive reviews. They were very responsive and professional. They called ocnsistently to remind me of scheduled appointments the day prior and always showed up for work at the specific time scheduled. While I would have liked for them to check in with me a little more to make sure they were clear on what I wanted, the work was completed to my satisfaction and I am planning to hire them again for some additional handyman work that I do not have time to do myself.

My son dealt with the man who came to our house. He said he really liked him and he was polite and did a really good job. The thing that impressed me was that they showed up on short notice. I had a refrigerator being delivered in two days and needed the cabinet cut to fit the new height. They adjusted their schedule just to get there in time for the installation. I would use them again in a second.

We've used Mr Handyman of Upper Fairfield County several times. Once was for plumbing - he sorted noisy toilets and replaced a faucet. We've always been very satisfied.

Spectacular job. Best handyman I've ever used. Worked quiclky & efficiency so project cost less than I anticipated bc took fewer hours. Was able to fix our front door when 2 other handymen failed. I intend to use them exclusively from now on. All projects were well done & the guy who came was really nice.

They were responsive and the experience was good. They answered my questions. I am shopping around for a better price however.

Two workers were here all day. Seemed experienced, and were neat.

They were very good and helpful. They were responsive and on time. He did the job like I wanted and did extra. He communicated with me the whole time.
