Description of Work: Mark came out and gave an estimate on clearing the leaves off of my property. We have woods behind the house so that was used instead of removing them and it saved some cost by doing that. While he was giving the estimate, he called out a few things that could be done as preventative maintenance which was nice. | |His crew showed up and immediately got to work. They got the job done, cleaned up and left without incident or delay. I was pleased with the clean and clear yard.

 + 0 moreOur experience with Marc and his company was great. Marc was very responsive and he communicated along the way. He called to give updates, told us when to expect him and set expectations clearly from the beginning. Most contractors gave us a solution which was expensive and extreme. Marc started with a straightforward 'step-one' solution first which saved us a significant investment. My impression of Marc is that he wants to do the job right -- not try to build something complicated and unnecessary. He told us honestly what we needed which ended up being less than what we thought. He is very knowledgeable about all the town restrictions and made sure that we were in line with all town requirements. He completed the job quickly yet efficiently and with respect to our current landscaping. In the future if i have landscaping or masonry needs I wouldn't hesitate to call him.
Description of Work: Marc installed an exterior drainage system for our home. In many cases gutters were dumping water too close to the house and there was nothing in place to accommodate the downward slope from the street to our garage. He installed steel drains along the base of our garage to capture the water and he connected nearby gutters to flow into the same drain system. He ensured that all gutters around the house were properly installed and positioned to distribute water outward. Most of all he did this without disturbing existing landscaping. He did an excellent job.

But when he came out to assess the job, he pointed out to me that my concrete front porch and walk were in need of repair (they were over 60 years old). After he showed me some of his work, I decided that I should redo the porch with a stone veneer and have blue stone installed for my walkway. As my job expanded, he ensured that sufficient workers were on hand to complete the job quickly and correctly. He was very responsive and completed the work as discussed and in the timeframe agreed. I am very pleased with the results and have received numerous compliments from neighbors and friends. I would recommend Mark Carroll Landscaping and Stone Masonry to anyone considering this type of home improvement.
Description of Work: Mark replaced my front concrete walkway with blue stone, installed a stone face veneer on my front porch and built a small stone bed around my mail post.

There were special circumstances and Mark was very sensitive and compassionate. Very professional and did not try to exploit the situation. He and his crew systematically and efficiently tackled one task at a time until the job was complete to my satisfaction and his.

Description of Work: We had Mark out to the house to discuss drainage solutions around the exterior of our house. We had received previous quotes for comprehensive in-ground drainage solutions that were really expensive, but Mark came up with a much more economical solution for us based on the grading around the house. We will definitely use him again for landscaping and other services.

 + 1 moreThe entire team was prompt, professional and cleaned up the site each day. The project was completed on time (thankfully the weather was cooperative) and on budget. Mark was on site each day. The materials used were top notch, and a significant improvement from the original walkway. We were extremely pleased with the masonry services and highly recommend Mark Carroll and his team. Our next project was planting several spruce trees for privacy screening. While this was only a one-day project, we experienced the same level of service and professionalism. The trees planted were top quality, and again we were very pleased with the results.
Description of Work: We first hired Mark and his team to replace a walkway. Project involved tearing out old flagstone, overgrown bushes, replanting 2 other bushes and enlarging area and installing new flagstone. The second project was planting several spruce trees for screening.

I was very impressed with him, his team, and his service, honestly, and integrity. They might not be the cheapest around, but the quality, speed, and integrity of his service is well worth it.

Description of Work: We had a bluestone slate patio installed installed, brush and tree stumps removed and new stucco facing applied to our foundation.  + 2 moreHe came out and did a wonderful job. His stone work is phenomenal. His workers were very pleasent and friendly. They were very hard workers and they cleaned up every single day. He is very nice, and makes you feel very comfortable. I don't remember the exact price that was paid for everything, but he is very affordable. I thought it was going to be a lot more than what he quoted.
Description of Work: He came out and did landscaping, dug up the old asphalt driveway and put in a new paved driveway. He constructed a new beautiful patio with new steps and risers. He also painted the whole exterior house.

 + 5 moreThe guys do an excellent job with the regular yardwork (mowing, mulching, edging, leaf cleanup) and winter plowing. If I need them to do something before an event at the house, I can count on them to do their best to fit it in. Mark is always upfront about the schedule and when things can be done, and his word is good - I do not have to remind him about any projects. The stonework they did was beautiful - the steps and wall and walkways all came out wonderfully. Mark is always responsive to my calls, as well as in providing quotes. I've been extremely happy with their services over the years.
Description of Work: Mark Carroll Landscaping has been doing work for me for years. They regularly do the lawn mowing, snow removal, mulching, edging, and leaf cleanup on my yard. I have also had them do special landscaping projects - they have created a raised bed by a patio for me, planted trees and bushes a few times, and prepared new garden beds for me. Mark has suggested good landscaping choices for the foundation plantings. They have also done some stone work. They put in a new front stone path for me, put in a stone walkway in the backyard, built a stone wall and stone steps. Please note, since this is a report for overall services, Angie's List would not let me enter in that service date is >6 years. So, the date above is a random date. In addition, I did not fill in an amount, as I am discussing many different services above.

 + 1 moreHow did it go overall? Oh my goodness, you don't really want a recital of 15 years worth of work. Let's just say that if we were not satisfied with Mark's overall work product and costs, he would have have been working with us for 15 years.
Description of Work: Mark Carroll has been our landscaper for approximately 15 years. Mark's company has a wide range of services so check his website. Most recently, his crew removed the wintry mix that was deposited overnight 1/16-17/2012. They do landscaping, lawn cutting, snow removal, Spring/Fall cleanups, masonry installations. I have listed only a few categories. To fill out this form I had to indicate the cost of the most recent "project" which was clearing our driveway of a coating of snow/ice (known locally as "wintry mix" which sounds like pet food but is not) but I cannot give you a specific dollar amount at this moment because the cost depends on the size of your driveway and the quantity of snowfall. If you are interested in snow removal, call Mark and ask for an estimate, as you would for any other project. Over the years there have been many projects ranging from routine to optional to unexpected. A partial list includes lawn cutting, Spring/Fall cleanups, snow removal, masonry projects, various plantings and during Spring 2011 a major replanting as a result of last year's harsh winter combined with deer damage. We consider Mark's prices to be fair and well within range for southwestern Fairfield County. As always, discuss your plans (and hopes for your project), see if adjustments and modifications are appropriate and discuss cost. No one wants surprises but sometimes unexpected things turn up, as they do with so many other things in life. Mark and his crew are such nice people.
