At first they tried to do the repacking, supposedly $220. Because the house was old, the stem was buried behind the concrete wall of the bathroom. They had to knock out some wall around the stem to take it out; it took them around ~45 minutes. They took the cold end's stem to Home Depot and even some store in Chicopee, MA to find the washer yet couldn't find it; that took them ~2 hours to drive around. After them came back and told me that, I decided to replace all the valves with the new one which costed $650. The job was quick with them knocking a part of the bathroom wall to get to the fixture, replacing with the new valves and cleaning up afterwards. It took them around ~1.5 hours and the job was well done. To recap, they came in from 8:30 am and worked on problem till 1:15 pm and charged me $650.
Description of Work: The bathtub valves were 35+ years old and have leaking from the cold end.

Chris did a great job - He worked with me to pick out all my plumbing fixtures - he even went with me to the plumbing supply house to pick out toilets, tubs, faucets, sinks. He recommended staying away from the "home improvement stores" for these things because the quality was not the same. There was never any pressure to buy the "better" fixtures - He said I will install whatever you want - but if you buy from 'A' instead of 'B' , I guarantee you I will be back to replace it! He told me what size vanities I would need so they would be compliant with the building codes as for distance away from toilets/tubs. He also recommended the brands to choose from and which ones to stay away from in regards to their dependability and warranties. He coordinated and worked well with all the other tradesmen and the building inspectors. He would even show up on weekends to work around their schedules and to keep the project on track. I had one issue about 6 mos after I moved in.. one of the toilets was rocking because of an uneven tile after things settled. I notified Chris and he was there within the week and fixed it. I have been in the house for almost 3 years now and have never had a problem with any of the work done by Callahan's Plumbing and Heating. When it comes time to finish my basement and install the downstairs bathroom I will be contacting Chris. I am very happy with the job he did and would recommend Callahan's Plumbing and Heating to anyone.
Description of Work: I built a new house and Callahan's Plumbing did all the work for my plumbing needs - sinks, toilets, tubs, ice maker, well hook up- He also installed the pipe work and a pump for a toilet /shower and sink prior to the basement floor being poured. This will allow me to have a bathroom downstairs when I decide to finish the basement into additional living area. While the water trenches were dug - he also recommended and installed a no-freeze pump out to my barn area so I would not have to be dealing with long hoses to get water to my horses- Chris installed all the gas lines and did the hook-ups for the furnace, stove, generator and an instant gas hot water heater.
