Avery Painting & Wallpapering

My walls were a mess. There was remaining wallpaper behind a radiator that was there for about 70 years or so. The plaster walls were a mess and that is why I decided to wallpaper it. Well Gary did a fantastic job of making the room look like a newly built addition. The seams are non-existent and he managed to stretch the wallpaper even though we were short a roll. Very reasonably priced too!

Gary and his son did an excellent job. They were very thorough and cleaned up every day after they finished, I would highly recommend Avery Painting & Wallpapering!

Gary was extremely prompt and detailed. He walked through the entire process thoroughly. He finished the job and did everything he promised. Job results were terrific. Would absolutely hire him again!

Kitchen was tricky due to lots of cabinets and Windows. Completed the project while we were away for the weekend. Everything cleaned up and a joy to come home to!

Avery Painting and Wallpapering was a pleasure to work with and I am very pleased with the finished work. They provided prompt and curteous responses to my initial contact, great communication, very accurate quoting. Gary prepared and painted several rooms in my home prior to our moving in. He did a fantastic job remediating several issues with the walls themselves prior to painting. Gary was on time and very communicative and did exactly what he said he was going to do. He also took great care with our newly finished floors and made sure they were covered while working in those rooms. We're so pleased with the finished work and have already requested a quote for additional work to be completed in the fall. Hire with confidence!

We are thrilled with our "new" deck. Bryce Avery was meticulous in bringing a 25 year old, weathered, battleship grey, deck back to its original look. We had lattice work on the deck rails, which I hadn't even expected to be addressed. Bryce spent hours bringing everything back to life. Clearly, their quote was understated for the work that was done. Yet they were willing to stand by it! We happily offered more, they seemed very pleased and we think we got value many times over! Needless to say, we will have Avery back to help us with other projects. Polite, professional, incredible.

This review is being written on March 31, 2014 in response to an e-mail request from Angie's List. The proposed project was completed by another contractor in June of 2013. Mr. Avery was personable and professional, arrived at the appointed time, discussed the proposed work, and submitted a timely bid. Unfortunately, there were two other bidders, also from Angie's List. It was not an easy decision, but I selected one of the other bidders.

Despite delays due to weather job was finished on time and I couldn't be happier. Chris and his son were on time constantly worked to get the job done. I was amazed at how neat they were with the painting. When I paint there is more everywhere else than on the walls. These guys are wonderful, I already have plans to use them again for another project.

Mr Avery and son Brice provided a reasonable quote. They were on time every day and conducted their business quietly, cleanly and efficiently. These guys are great. No time wasted and willing to please. I have them on speed dial for the next job or to recommend.

We hired Gary and Bryce to do this job. Our past experience has been great with them, and this job was great also. They worked around the weather and came to the job as soon as the deck was dry enough. They pressure washed the deck, filled some deeply gouged planks, and put two coats of solid stain. There were also some new sections of decking. Gary was ok with me purchasing the stain, which allowed me an opportunity for the best price. We prefer Benjamin Moore for all painting/staining, and so does Gary. Gary finished the job as promised, given the weather delays. And it looks great.

Gary very promptly responded to the request we submitted through Angie's list. He arrived at our house at the time planned for an estimate. He also arrived as planned for the actual painting -- no waiting around -- and did a great job. We are very pleased with the service. Gary is also very pleasant and friendly, which is always a bonus with anyone working in your home. We have already asked Gary to come back in the Spring to stain our deck.

When you put your own name on your business - that symbolizes quality and pride of ownership. Both are true in Gary Avery's business. I will be using him in the future once my bathroom and kitchen are redone. Gary also hangs wallpaper. I used his expertise in that area for one wall that separates a couple of living areas. And, as much as I would hate to hide some of their workmanship, I may have one wall wallpapered upstairs once the furniture arrives. Clean up was done well beyond my expectations. I am hoping to be able to add photos shortly to my review. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. One thing I really liked was back when we discussed price. He gave me a quote of just labor, and I was able to go and purchase my own paint. He didn't "hide" anything just made it easy for me to determine if I was getting a good deal or not. A truly honest businessman.

Gary did an excellent and extremely professional job wallpapering and painting our bedroom and master bath. His son Bryce does clean, neat, and professional work with a delightful disposition. They are a wonderful father and son team. Totally trustworthy in our home. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a job well done!!!! And, we would definitely call them for future projects!!!

They did the job; it was inexpensive and they did a good job.

Gary Avery estimated the job to take 10 days. I was amazed how short this estimate was, and anticipated a longer time. I was even more amazed that he finished the job in 10 days exactly, including all final touch-up and clean-up. Gary allowed us to buy the paint directly from his supplier, even though he picked up and delivered it to us. His estimate for gallons was right on. Gary and his son Bryce make a great team. They get along well, and were very polite and helpful to us along the way. They arrived exactly on the date of their estimate, and worked every weekday until the job was completed. They didn't even stop for lunch! As Gary indicated, they put a lot of time and effort into preparation. The existing ceiling paint had not bonded tightly, so they applied a sealer initially. The entire job came out 100% great. We are very pleased with the result. There were some unexpected difficulties (such as the early arrival of the new family room carpet) that Gary and Bryce worked around, doing work in a different sequence than planned. They were both always pleasant and helpful, in spite of these changes, And Gary stuck to his estimate. What more can you ask...pleasant people, working until completed, and meeting the budget...and a beautiful result.

He did a really great job. He made sure the seams were lined up correctly in each corner. I was very happy with the results. He was very neat and worked thru the day until the job was finished. I plan on hiring him again to do some additional work in the house.

We received three quotes total (1 outrageous and 2 reasonable). Gary's price was close to another contractor we have used in the past. However, we wanted to support the Gary's local family business. Also, our family and neighbors have used them in the past with positive results. Gary and Brice were very professional, showed up on time, and did a wonderful job. They moved furniture and protected everything with drop cloths. They helped us save money on paint by having us work with a local hardware store where they get a discount. That hardware store proved to be a pain by not having all our paint ready, but Gary was willing to work around it. He was very pleasant and worked within our schedule to make sure the job was done on time. There were a few things we didn't ask for during the initial quote that we added on at the last minute. Gary graciously was able to get those things done within our time frame for a reasonable additional cost that was much less than I expected. I was happy to pay. I've been recommending Gary (and Brice) to anyone who will listen. We couldn't be happier with the work they've done.

I contacted Gary for an estimate. He was prompt in returning my call, in arranging to meet and in submitting an estimate. He came to the house with his son and discussed his approach to what we needed. We decided to go with another contractor, in part because of their work with eco products.

Arrived timely for all appointments and did an excellent job painting. I will definitely use Avery in the future.

Great experience. They ended up having to come twice to do the job to the level of quality they wanted, but they did not alter the original, agrred-upon price. Did an incredible job at a very reasonable rate. HIGHLY recommended.

He contacted me because he was going to be late. I think it is great they keep in touch with you. He showed up when he said he would . He did excellent.

Gary came out to see the job and gave us an estimate within 24 hours. Gary and his son showed up every day when he said he would and did a beautiful job with our basement. He made some recommendation that helped the finish product to look the way we wanted it and we are very pleased with the results. We expect to have Gary back to paint the main floor of our house over the winter.
