David was very prompt, courteous and meticulous in his work.
Description of Work: I had two existing interior doors switched to open "out" instead of "in". Thankfully David figured out how to reuse my existing doors so I didn't have to purchase new ones. He also attached new hinges and door knobs as well as applied a layer of primer before he left. I am very happy with the results and would definitely hire him again.

We first hired Brendan to cut off the legs of a wood pilates machine. He was the only one we could find who would do it. He had a custom German saw just right for the task. Came out perfectly level. He is so competent and personable that we discussed some remodel projects. He worked with us in the design, showing us computer mock-ups. The first project was taking down 3/4 of a drywall and putting up a beautiful and solid open wood room divider. It is made of various size rectangles and now holds pots and other small art pieces. Then he custom built a new front door (ours was warping) designing it to match the interior wall that it opened on to. Again, a perfect and beautiful job. We are now working with him to remodel the kitchen with new cabinets and moving appliances around. again, all hand built, custom work. He doesn't do the electrical or plumbing. He is a master wood worker. We also talked about his building a credenza for us. He drew up a beautiful mid-century modern design, but in the end we decided not to get it. I'm sure it would have been incredible had he built it. Besides the beauty of the work, I want to say that Brendan is SO NICE and easy to work with. He is intelligent, reliable, and easy to talk with. He is an "artist" with wood. I HIGHLY recommend him and would be happy to talk with someone about his work.

It went great. Brenden came over, followed us around our house discussing all the stuff we needed fixed or want something custom done. Our bed was what we needed fixed pronto. This whole time I thought my mattress was the issue, not the bed frame. Brenden essentially reframed my bed and added supports all while retaining the aesthetics. Now he is getting us quotes for the custom furniture we want.
Description of Work: reconstructed the base of our bed. Our bed, while expensive, was made cheaply. Brenden came in and fixed it so that there was support and it was no longer falling apart, but still looks great! We also are going to be working on some custom pieces with him. Very Excited!

I purchased an Angie's List deal for $260 for 6 hours of woodworking. The provider texted me and spoke with me briefly. He seemed very curt once he heard we desired a white painted fireplace surround, not stained, and referred me to his website to see examples of his work. We wanted a basic fireplace mantle, painted white. He spoke to me in texts only after the brief call and seemed to feel this work was beneath him. He said to send him texts of the types of fireplace surrounds I was considering as examples. After I sent through three examples, he said it would cost $2000 to $3000 for a basic white mantle with no elaborate trim, just two or three pieces of molding on a simple surround. It seemed to us this was his way of putting us off and getting rid of us, so he doesn't have to honor the Angie's List deal. He also said he wouldn't do the tile around the fireplace and gave no explanation of how this would be coordinated with his design, only that we would need to handle that ourselves and that the wood has to be spaced away from the firplace to code. He gave no suggestions of tile workers he knows or teams with. How disappointing! We are new to the state and have had great experiences with all the Angie's List providers we have chosen.
Description of Work: We wanted to hire this provider after purchasing coupon through Angie's List for his company. We wanted a basic fireplace surround built and then painted white.

Response from Walsh Woodworks
[Member Name Removed], I am sorry that you feel that way. In our initial conversation, you conveyed your preference to follow up about design concepts by text message. I agreed to this method of communication, however I believe you may have misread my tone in it. To your credit, many people often do misinterpret text messages. Because I have not personally worked with any local tile workers, I could not recommend anyone to you and felt it best to be honest. It is my job to cater to the varied individual tastes and needs of my clients, from basic trim work to fine furniture, which I believe my portfolio demonstrates. I provided to you an initial consultation and quote within the first 24 hours after you purchased the promo, which I believe is testament to my punctuality. I completely stand by my pricing, and strongly believe it is commensurate for quality design, construction, service, installation, and delivery. It is my hope that you have a good experience with future projects. Regards, Brendan

Professional craftsman, not handyman. Lots of angles that were done perfectly. He took his time to cut and re-cut to make sure the miters met perfectly on our imperfect walls. Upon completion everything was cleaned better than he found it, inside and outside (where the cuts were made)..

Everything went well from beginning to end. Brendan was responsive, knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful in figuring out exactly what the end product would look like. He not only listened to our request, but also provided suggestions that led to a beautiful result. We are VERY happy with the shelves and would love to work with Brendan again in the future!
Description of Work: Brendan discussed our ask to fully understand what we wanted, stopped by the house to discuss the fine details of the work, and installed our new floating shelves in home after ensuring that everything was in order.

Brendan Walsh, the owner, came to my home for an estimate. He was timely, professional and patient. He took the broken cabinet door for repair, and a drawer facing to match the mirror frames we wanted. All the work was completed in his shop. The work was completed much more quickly than I anticipated. He did a beautiful job! Part of the cabinet door needed to be replaced, and he matched the wood and stain beautifully. You would never know it was ever changed. And the mirror frames are gorgeous, exactly what we wanted. We had contacted the original cabinet manufacturer to see if we could buy trim from them and use that for the mirror frames, but the price was exorbitant. Brendan did the entire job for less that the trim/wood would have cost from the manufacturer (and then we'd still need to have the frames built and installed). His work is detailed and meticulous. I would absolutely use him again!

Brendan was on time for the job, he was a pleasure to work with. He stayed much longer than the 6 hours we had purchased and went above and beyond what we thought could be done with the room. I am thrilled with the work and especially the custom wood working around the difficult area by the front door and the fireplace. I highly recommend this company. We have found our carpenter, if we need any other woodworking done there is no doubt we will be calling Brendan Walsh! Thank you!
Description of Work: Trimmed around top and bottom of baseboards in living room to provide the room with a finished look. He customized trim around the front door that looks beautiful, and customized challenging areas around the fireplace hearth. He rehung pieces of crown molding in another room and fit and repaired threshold entrance

Everything went perfectly. Brendan showed up on time and got straight to work on the crown molding, which looks fantastic. He also noticed that we do a lot of our home renovations ourselves, so while he was working, he explained what he was doing and how we could attempt it next time. We were very satisfied with the work that was performed and the level of detail he provided.

Swimmingly. I purchased a "big deal" for six hours of carpentry labor - a deal under any circumstances, but particularly considering the level of professionalism and craftmanship exhibited by Brendan Walsh, the owner of Walsh Woodworks. Though Brendan's skill far exceeded the complexity of my projects he dispensed them with the same attention to detail as if creating a fine piece of furniture, his true forte. Brendan was engaging and liked my dog - a thoroughly satisfying experience all around.

Brandon was on time, knew exactly what to get at the lumber yard. He spent a lot of time making sure that the design and structure of everything was correct. He was quick and efficient. Cleaned up completely and hauled away all of the old lumber. I would happily go to Walsh Woodworks for any future projects.

We responded Walsh Woodworks Angies List special, that we received in our email, for 5 hours or carpentry work for $125. Brendan, owner, responded and made an appointment to review our needs. He arrived promptly, listened carefully, took notes and images, and asked for some specifications about clearances necessary for our new refrigerator (replaced a taller SubZero with a Samsung) to have proper airflow, sides and back. He also looked at our Pony Barn, which is collapsing, and we discussed tearing down and rebuilding a replica or a modified facsimile of the 'Chicken Coop' design we found in Southern Living magazine. We discussed prices, and he left promising to follow-up with firmer pricing/estimates, which he did relatively promptly, and we set an appt. for Brendan to perform the cabinetry work, and to have a second discussion regarding the Pony Barn project. He arrived to perform the cabinetry work on time, in a new panel truck, with new saws, equipment, and panel board that matches our existing custom cabinetry. The work he performed was very precise and detailed, and he turned what was (prior to his visit) an eyesore into a very attractive cabinetry enclosure for our new refrigerator. We had about an hour left on his 5 hours of special rate, so he volunteered to adjust, straighten and tighten some 3-way hinges that had become obviously misaligned - did great, quickly. I pointed out the uncovered metal vent that was exposed, inside a cabinet, which is located over our range vent, and he quickly fabricated a box from the matching panel material, and inserted so that the shelf slid back into place, and within our allotted time, he turned that into an attractive cabinet. Brendan charged for the 5 hours plus basically his cost for the materials, packed up his truck, cleaned his work area. We are very satisfied with Brendan's character and cabinetry work product, and recommend him with confidence for similar projects.

Brendan took special care in mounting the OSB boards, there were some studs that the electricians had forgot got to put wire protector plates on. Brendan noticed the mistake and notified me of the short coming so that he could correct the situation prior to hanging the boards. This attention to details and looking out for my best interest was most impressive. Hanging the cabinets was also a great experience, he worked with me to decide where and how to organize the cabinets. When he was done, he cleaned and swept out the garage. Every thing was neat and tidy.

Brenden Walsh is one of the best providers of home service I have ever worked with. He is professional in all ways: punctual, polite, pleasant, smart. He is a gifted carpenter whom I would use again in a heartbeat. His customers will be very pleased.
Description of Work: Brenden modified a cabinet that prevented the refrigerator from sliding all the way back. His work was so perfect that there is no sign whatspever that the wood was cut. Afterwards he adjusted all the cabinets so that the doors would hang flush and straight, something he offered to do bedore leaving the contracted job.

In addition to the framing. I received help and instruction in how to replace hardwood flooring. He did the work but allowed me to watch and learn. He answered all my questions so I can finish the work myself. In addition at the end of the session he answered a number of "how to" and "what would you do" questions about my remodeling effort. He is very professional and meticulous about his work. He takes it very seriously and works to insure it met all of my requirements.

They are absolutely amazing. He is extremely honest and a fast worker, which is very rare to find. We thought that we would give him a chance because we had a problem with a contractor that we had. But we didn't expect the turnaround and good price and everything. He is amazing. He is very talented, of course. There is nothing that I dislike about him. We are very good friends now.

He provided an extremely reasonable estimate. He used a piece of furniture I already owned for inspiration. He was extremely punctual. He was right on time as he promised. It took him eleven hours to install the cabinets, he made sure they were completely and totally level with my countertop by leveling each cabinet individually. He is an artist and a craftsman. My cabinets are beautiful. He is the best service provider I have ever had. I highly recommend him. It was a very good experience.
