lawn mower repair
+ -1 moreWanted to try local service and develop relationship with lawnmower repair service that I could use periodically. About 4 other services nearby, but very expensive.
Description of Work: How Hank's works: he has a stockpile of hundreds of tractor mowers that he uses to scavenge for parts. He then charges full retail price for any parts he replaces. I suppose that is sort of fair. Problem is when a part is not available. He will not buy part outright and replace. In this case mower simply doesn't get repaired. He also made a lot of promises re delivery that was not kept. Hank is a nice enough and personable guy, but I did not have a good experience. Was hoping for a simple, inexpensive repair job, but the way he prices his jobs it is no bargain: pay full retail price for parts he scavenges, pay $60/hr labor, and he will not leave his garage to acquire parts he does not have. Reselling old parts is how he makes the bulk of his profits. Customer comes second because he will not forego the profit that comes from selling used, scavenged parts as new. Just getting the hourly work rate is apparently not enough to deliver on the repair job. This was a very unpleasant experience.
