It went very well. The project started on time and Gary showed up every day until the job was finished. It took longer to complete the project than estimated but that was because the vanity had to be ordered and it took longer than anticipated to get here. Gary does excellent work and I am very happy with the end result. Lou, the contractor, was very proactive in resolving the few issues that had to be addressed. I have had a lot of work done on my home over the last few years. This was by far one of the best experiences that I have had. I highly recommend Perfect View.

I contacted PerfectView to ask for an estimate on two decks I wanted replaced. It took a week for them to return my call and set up an appointment to come out to look at the job. He took the measurements and pictures and said he would email me with a quote. He said it would take about a week to get it to me. That was over two weeks ago and I still have not heard from PerfectView. I would be very hesitant to use this company now as I would be concerned as to the length of time it would take to start the job.

Excellent quality work, Lou is great to work with, project took much longer than expected, which is my only complaint. Holidays interfered, but that wasn't the only reason. Cabinets were delayed, too. I would still use them again.

We got quotes from 3 different contractors for this job. Lou's quote was in the middle. We chose him because he seemed very knowledgeable and easy going and we are so glad we picked PerfectView Remodeling for our project! From the very start Lou spent many hours with my husband and I going over various ideas and configurations for our new master bedroom and bathroom. In fact, we initially were going to do something totally different and had even gone as far as having Lou draw up some preliminary designs when we decided to go in a different direction. Lou didn't seem aggravated at all by our change in plans and never seemed rushed during our appointments to go over the project. In fact, many of these hours were prior to us even signing any contracts. He never asked us to sign anything until we were all happy with the plans and quote. He is very prompt at answering both phone calls and emails and always answered any questions I had. Construction started the week before Christmas and finished the beginning of March. It finished slightly behind schedule, but we knew that might happen due to some days lost because of the weather. Gary and Bill, who did the majority of the work, were wonderful to work with. They were as unobtrusive as possible and always cleaned up at the end of the work day. I have two young children and they both loved the guys and felt completely comfortable talking to them and teasing them. Both Gary and Bill were quick to answer any questions and also very responsive to any concerns I had during the construction. I felt secure enough with them to leave them a hidden key and they never left the door unlocked when they left for the day. They were always there promptly between 7:30 and 8 am and finished up each day by 5pm at the latest, which I appreciated because it allowed us to have family time in the evening without any disruptions. At the end of the project Lou sent beautiful roses to the house and also provided me with a CD of all the pictures he took during the project. My husband and I just moved our furniture in this weekend and I honestly don't want to leave my new, beautiful rooms! I would highly recommend Lou and PerfectView Remodeling!
Description of Work: Built new 16X22 addition (master bedroom with walk in closet) above existing garage and turned an existing 8X12 bedroom into a master bathroom. They did everything from the demo to the installation of flooring (except carpet), tiling, plumbing, electric, heating, installing new air jet tub, installation of toilet, vanity, fixtures, etc in bathroom, and did all the painting. All we had to do was pick out the tile, tub, vanity, fixtures, paint colors, etc.

.Perfectview made recommendations as to the proper materials, etc. The quality of their work was outstanding. ONce the work was complete it looked like it had always been there. We would hire them again as a general contractor and also recommend them for other persons consideration if they have remodeling work or to even build a new building..
Description of Work: We had a laundry room built into a closet. It included carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. Our previous one was in the basement and it was difficult at times to bring the washed items to the first floor.

We wanted them to come over and give us a quote which they did. We are not just ready to go ahead with the work. However, we were really impressed with them. The quote amount was about $30000. We were in need of a larger, updated bathroom by combining an existing tiny bathroom and the adjacent bedroom. PerfectView Remodeling did no electrical or plumbing investigation, gave us only a 3-dimension drawing (with no measurements, lighting ideas, power outlets or switch locations, etc.) of the changes we wanted, then submitted an outrageously high estimate. Without an associated, comprehensive electrical and plumbing analysis there was no way for us to believe that the price was anywhere near accurate. We brought in two other, very professional contractors, who both gave us a high-quality, architectural design layout at a far smaller, more accurate estimate. Anyone doing business with PerfectView will be very disappointed.

Lou was efficient with the quote which other than our additions of items and needed updates due to the age of the house, was on the money. We received 2 other quotes and Lou's was the most cost effective. We were very satisfied with how the renovations went overall from start to finish.
Description of Work: Remodeled entire home including adding bedrooms and 11/2 baths to existing home. Remodeling included electrical and plumbing work. House was built in 1910 and all rooms were brought up to code. Project encompassed entire home and Lou, his crew and contractors he hired were dependable and respectful of the impact the renovations had on our family. The crew cleaned up each day to allow us to live as normally as possible while this extensive job was being done. They provided excellent suggestions and ideas to our original requests that improved the overall renovations. Any concerns we had were addressed immediately. We have some smaller items to be done at a later time and we would not hesitate to use Perfectview again.

I contacted PerfectView and spoke to the respresentative abut the services I wanted. He came out to the hose, arrived on time. WE discussed the services and I requested three price scenarios which he provided within twenty four hours. I selecte the option that would have all of the work completed at one time. We scheduled a date in May and they arrived on the scheduled date on time and prepared to geing working. The job was completed two days later than estimated; however, that was due to rain and dampness which prevented the floors from drying completely. I then did a walk through and only until I was satisfied did theyrequest final payment.

Work was timely, well done, even though I made several changes/additions during the process. They encountered a number of unexpected problems as they took up the carpeting ( no wood on stair landing, having to replace all the risers for the stairs), layers of old flooring in the kitchen and hall that changed the height of the floors, and they were dealt with in a way to correct the deficiencies and to try to minimize the additional cost without sacrificing the quality of the job. The only thing that went wrong was that they used a different brand of paint than what I wanted, although it was the same color and there was a recall on my undercabinet lightening that took some time to fix after the job was done. As with any job of this size, there were some small things that needed to be addressed at the end of the job - these were handled quickly and to my satisfaction. This is a good firm- their staff is professional, they help with design and suggestions, and stay with you until you are happy. Not the cheapest, but not the most expensive and they don't waste your money.
Description of Work: PerfectView renovated my kitchen (cabinets, counter, backsplash, shelves, undercabinet lighting, light fixture), replaced carpeting throughout 1st floor and stairs with hardwood flooring, updated electrical switches and plugs, installed new light fixtures, refaced a fireplace and painted the entire first floor and hall.

The process went fairly well. I went to the Pro source provider and picked out the tile in the price range for the coupon and the contractor installed it. I had done all the demolition work myself already. They came back to install hardwood after the porcelain tile was properly in place and cured in place. I have not yet had them return to sand and finish the floor.
Description of Work: I purchased a coupon for 100 sq ft of Kitchen tile to be installed. I used them to install that and new hardwood unfinished oak flooring in the remainder of the kitchen to tie it into the other hardwood I had in the house

I felt pressured to to a complete kitchen remodel-replacing the existing wood cabinets, etc. I was looking for a kitchen island with a cooktop, and adding cabinets upper and lower to a 36" wide space; granite counter tops, etc. Mr. Cook was pleasant enough, however, I was not looking to gut my kitchen and replace everything.
Description of Work: Order Number: 146850 Order Date: October 9, 2011 10:44 PM Met with Mr. Cook in Dec. 2011 and explained what I wanted included in the layout. I emailed him on Jan 19, 2012 as I had not received the layout document I purchased. When I did receive the layout on February 9 , it did not include the cooktop I asked to be shown on the kitchen island and the refrigerator had been relocated which I did not ask for because of increased cost. I received the revised layout on February 19, but the refrigerator was not restored to its original location. I don't remember the exact cost of the layout = perhaps $60.00. I did no pursue the remodeling with Perfectview because I felt the price too costly.

The sealant on the floor didn't take at first because of possible oil spills from the previous owners, but Lou alerted me of the problem and fixed the problem at his own expense, which required removing the previous sealant, and priming and sealing the floor again. Lou and his team were great, very professional and accommodating.
Description of Work: Lou and his team dry-walled the walls that weren't made of cement (about two walls), also dry-walled the whole ceiling and covered up the fiberglass. Some cracks in the floor were fixed and the whole floor was covered with sealant. The walls were also primed and painted a cool blue.Basically partially finished the basement... it has more of an industrial look now. It's a perfect space for my in home gym.

Description of Work: Did a very good job on a large bi-level deck attached to the back of my house. Easy to work with and talk to. Nice give and take on discussion of ideas although his price is on the high side. My husband and I have never had any work done on our house, and were anxious about the process of choosing a contractor, what projects made the most sense to have done, and the cost of what we wanted! Lou Cook of Perfect View Remodeling meet with us on several occasions. He spent a great deal of time helping us decide what projects we could do, always mindful of our budget. He was so patient and considerate! We refinanced our house to get a lower interest rate to pay for our projects, and that took FOREVER! Lou was so patient, and when we were ready, so was he. He was actually able to get started on refinishing the floors (with very little advanced warning) while were were out of town -great for us!! The guys were all so great!! They spent about a month working on all our projects, this summer. Our 8 yr old twins boys loved to watch the guys work, and the guys were great with them! The crew spent a lot of time in and around our house, and I felt completely comfortable with them there. On the last day of construction, our kids asked me if one of the guys could join our family!! The quality of workmanship, and materials used were impressive. The crew were so neat, clean and polite. Lou helped us redesign the entrance/foyer/mudroom to our house that had always been problematic for us. His suggestions were so creative and now have made a world of difference in the entrance and functionality of our home. We could not have been happier. I have already referred 2 of my friends to Lou. And did I mention that he did not go over budget in any way....NO surprises!!
Description of Work: Perfect View Remodeling did several projects for us; both large and small. We had them install a huge new composite deck, refinish our hardwood floors, installed new hardwood floors (walnut!), amazing granite counters, and they reworked some previously unusable spaces for us. Perfection!!

He came and gave me some suggestions on what he would do. I decided not to go through with this company, as I did not want to go the route he suggested. He was very customer oriented and knowledgeable. He was very willing to look at the problem and give suggestions and ideas. He was very prompt in returning my initial call. All of the high recommendations and reviews I read justified him coming to look at the project. I would certainly recommend him to others though. He just didn't fit the job I had, certainly was accommodating.

Louis was very helpful in making my vision for a bathroom renovation a reality. He listened to my ideas and helped me to explore different options. He presented me with a clear floor plan and drawings. He directed me to excellent sources for fixtures, tile and granite counter top. Work began several weeks later than planned due to delay in arrival of the tub. The work was conducted very professionally. They were very responsive to my concerns, correcting issues quickly. There was one additional delay while waiting for arrival of the heater for the fall. The project took 4 weeks from start to finish. I am very happy with my new bathroom
Description of Work: Existing bathroom was gutted to studs, removing tile, floor, shower stall, tub, toilet and sink. New air jet tub with shower was installed, new long vanity and tall cabinet. Heated floor and ceramic tile floor were installed. A new vent was installed.

Louis was neither the cheapest nor most expensive quote. I chose him largely because he seemed trust worthy and had a good reputation on here. We were targeting to have the decks done by July 2nd. We lost 3 weeks right out of the gate by being told we would need a variance to even rebuild what I had existing due to setback requirements. We knew the date of the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, and we were to get started the next day*, based on the outcome of that meeting (back deck only, both as existing, or expanded deck), with a new target date of Aug 1*. When I called the afternoon of the meeting, Louis' phone was answered by his assistant, who informed me he had just left that day on a 10 day vacation. I was upset, but waited for him to return- I had told him he had the job, and I already wasn't going to have thedecks done for when I had originally wanted., and I was still being told Aug 1 was fine*. (Bear in mind the Ipe needs to acclimate for a week before being used, and he hasn't even ordered it yet...) He gets back and takes a few days to get out with the guy who is going to do the drawings to figure out final materials. He leaves telling me he will have the final numbers and contract ready for me the following Wednesday*. I tell him I won't be able to be in town until Thursday, so he gets an extra day, and we set a meeting for that Thursday afternoon*.He doesn't show or call. I reach out to him and he tells me the blue print guy's mother in law was in a bad accident, and he lost time, but the drawing was just finished and he'll have numbers for me Saturday*, but they will include estimates for the beam/footings since the structural engineer won't be out to look at the site until the following Wednesday. On Friday afternoon around 4:30pm I get a message from Louis explaining that because of all the "scope changes" (deck got ~100sqft bigger than original, when I found out he wasn't pictureframing expensive Ipe decks, I told him I wanted that done, and a new gutter to move the downspout) he just couldn't have anything for me on Saturday. In addition because of the "amount of concrete and the weight of the steel beam" he was going to have to rent a crane and get redi-mix and a pumper truck, and that costs like $5000 that wasn't in his original bid. At this point I was really past it, and called him, and lets just say it wasn't my finest moment nor his. We were mutually sure we didn't want to continue the project with each other. However it was now the middle of July, and I had to start from square one finding a contractor again. Needless to say I'm not having any BBQs this summer... I think that for smaller jobs Louis/Perfectview probably do good work, but I think this project was simply much larger than he normally handles, and I think he was not honest with me about his ability to complete such a project. He got very flustered by details that were layed out in stone on our very first meeting (the amount of concrete needed for footings is essentially static- its simply a factor of the weight of the structure and the holding capacity of the soil... There was always going to be the same amount of concrete, and it was always the same level of silly to mix it by hand... A 20 something foot (probably steel) beam was always going to be a beast, but you can use a genie lift for about $100 to raise a 500lb beam, you don't need a crane), and kept repeating the same questions (he asked me if we were using 1" or 5/4 decking no less than _3_ times *after* he provided the bid to me with 5/4 specified..., etc.) to either make it seem like we really hadn't decided on what we were doing yet, or because he was that scattered. *There was a constant stream of expectations that Louis set and failed to meet, without trying to manage them.
Description of Work: I had selected Louis and Perfect View for a large decking project at my house near the water in West Haven. It was the rebuilding/expansion of a side and back deck. They were existing, but the upper deck was going to be brought around over the lower deck if permitted, and they were going to be rebuilt using Ipe decking. (To be clear I spent nothing, $37.5k is my best estimate of what the job would have been taking the original bid + 100sqft + gutter + picture framing the outsides.)
