That was good. There were some issues. He would see that he would be there on time and he wasn't or his workmen weren't. There were always issues coming up. They did good work. They did good work, their prices were high but I guess in construction it pays off to pay. The project lasted way to long, I don't know, maybe he had too many things going. The price was sizable, it was a sizable project. I know it's on the high side but they did good work. He's easy to talk to but it's just the punctuality thing. There was always something coming up. I would have to think about using them again. It was a big project. He has done other projects for me, he put in a garage in for me, he repaired my garage when a car ran through the side of my garage. I don't expect big projects again in this house so I would just have to think about it.
Description of Work: That was good. They finished the basement, I had them convert it to an apartment. I would say he got it done about a month ago, maybe 2, 2 months ago. It was a 2 bedroom apartment.

They were probably the one I liked the most. The other guy gave me a quote for the same job which was much more expensive. They came in and they were on time. He was a very nice person to talk to.

Very professional service. Always returned calls and emails promptly. Gave a clear drawing and estimate of the project. The project was completed on time. Louis got the town permit for the new deck. I did not have to worry about anything during this project. I would hire them again for any other future projects.

Louis Cook met us on time and on schedule. He was prompt and thorough and had all available labor and materials on hand to complete our required work within a limited time frame. He was fair on pricing and work was executed in a professional manner. I would recommend without reservations.
Description of Work: They performed general house maintenance in preparation of putting property on the market. There was general cutting and patching, replacement of garage doors, painting, repair of a sky light and gwb replacement, repair of drawings and cabinets, tile repair and bi-folding door replacement.

They had a very nice selection of tile and Louis, the owner, helped us pick out tiles and a pattern that we really like. They replaced tile that was coming up due to failed adhesive and they used a bonding layer specifically designed to prevent this from happening again. His workman were on time, clean, and very easy to work with. Answered my questions and always offered good options when decisions had to be made. I have already recommended Perctview and would gladly use them again. His price was good and there were not any add -ons so the final price was exactly what we had originally agreed on. So Perfectview did the job using nice materials and current technology, good craftsmen, on time, and at the estimated price. Can't ask for more than that!

Mr Cook arrived as planned. We discussed my needs and wants. I had already made some decisions and knew the look I was going for but had no clue on the type of cabinets or drawers. I relied on his expertise for many decisions and was not disappointed. His cabinet layout was great, drawers and cabinets were installed to optimize the space and their use. I visited his store and looked at samples of what I wanted. He works with tiling and plumbing companies that are in the Hartford area that are easy to get to and are next to each other almost. I did find the subway tile and accent tile in his showroom that I wanted, He has a lot to choose from right there which made things much easier. I also chose my wood flooring there also so I had his undivided attention and didn't have to wait for a salesperson, that was a plus. I picked out something perfect and he was there to answer cost and durability questions as it pertained to my plan. The fact that he has so many samples of his suppliers products made this a less stressful experience. His employees arrived on time and at a time that was good for our family, around 8:30-9 after my grandson went to school and I was at work. They stayed until at least 5 or sometimes longer getting things finished and cleaning up. They always packed up their items and put them away or tucked into corners. Joe and Randy were awesome, true professionals at their trade, I would ask for them on any future jobs. With all the snow during this time they still stayed and worked tirelessly, I can't say enough good things about them. The cabinets arrived within stated time frame and they started on time, I found just a couple of marks on some doors and Mr Cook reordered them without a problem. All my concerns were handled without question. Some of the hardware that I wanted was not ordered but was fixed and the new handles ordered and installed. It was something I learned that make sure you see everything before it is installed if you are the person in charge of your project, thank goodness it worked out because the workers don't always have specifics they just have handles. Bob and Randy always kept in contact with me by phone and always double checked with me about things. They finished up on time despite the snow storms and you will not regret giving them a call. My kitchen looks double the size, I don't regret this at all, the chaos is gone and that's worth a million in itself!
Description of Work: Total kitchen remodel, new cabinets, tile backsplash, removed a window, new Koeller farm sink with Moen faucet, granite counters. Removed several layers of flooring and installed prefinished 3..25 inch wide 3/4 inch oak flooring in kitchen and hall. Retrimmed window and baseboards. I did not replace my ceiling. They also removed 10 ft of hot water baseboard heat and installed a toekick heater under the sink which gives out a lot of heat, I love it. I had almost no counter and cabinet space and now have 3 large lazy Susans, a corner appliance garage with doors (not the tambour) to hide the toaster etc. A base cabinet with pull out shelves for pots etc. They installed beautiful natural cherry cabinets with the wood framed door fronts. Cabinets are all solid cherry wood fronts with full overlay doors. Drawers are dovetail joined. The drawer glides are heavy duty and fully extend with soft close. Pull out trash and under-counter lighting with dimmer. They also installed my over the sink light. Where I once had only 3 usable electrical plugs on my counter I now have 14. The refrigerator was moved to an adjacent wall and the stove moved to allow more counter prep area on each side. I wanted an area for the coffee maker, toaster and other small appliances and such with a specific area to use them in but out of view as I wanted clear counters from a walk-in view, (I had had it with the cluttered look ). That area is to one side and can be used without crossover into the main meal prep area which I love. Before we were tripping over each other.

Over a 2 year period we talked to several general contractors regarding our existing family room, fully demo-ed half bath and a badly sheetrocked garage. We waited 4 years till we found who we felt was the right contractor capable of our work scope and whom we could trust in our home. We can say Perfectview was a very capable general contractor who managed the following subs on our project: demo, rough framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, audio/visual, insulation, drywallers, tiling, finish carpentry. We are very satisfied with the level of craftsmanship done in our home, especially since both my husband and I are engineers who have worked in the architectural/engineering/construction industry. Our advise to anyone considering a major home remodel project is to understand that not everything is going to run smoothly and perfect. Therefore plan, plan, plan in advance, blow what it is you exactly want and do not be afraid to ask questions when it comes to any work that is done in your home. In the end we are very satisfied with the final product. Lou Cook and his crew listened to our needs, understood our design intent, provided good sound construction advise. We look forward to working on the next project in our home with Perfectview.

Our house has somewhat unique construction and we spoke with several people about how to replace the rotting siding on one end of the house. We received varying ideas about how to go about replacing/repairing the rotting siding including pretending it wasn't there and covering it with vinyl siding, which we did not consider to be a good option. Louis at PerfectView spent quite a bit of time researching the construction of our house and the foam core walls that were used, and provided a clear quote of the work to be done. The price seemed reasonable so we went ahead with it. They began work almost right away and despite cold weather and snow, they worked 6 days a week and were done in no time. Each day they cleaned up any mess and always left the yard in nice shape when they left. Everyone who worked here was pleasant and professional and we are very happy with the result. We would use PerfectView Remodeling again without hesitation.

' Louis Cook of PerfectView Remodeling responded to my telephone request for an estimate. He is a gentleman, who is knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with. He visited our home, inspected the old deck, and discussed in detail the options for the deck materials and a partial reconfiguration of the stairs. A couple of days after we agreed on the details, he provided a cost estimate and draft contract, which became the executed contract. The demolition of the old deck and construction of the new deck and new stairs were performed by Chris and Josh. Besides being very competent workers, they too are gentlemen. I thoroughly enjoyed my brief conversations with them, as the work progressed. The demolition work proceeded as expected, until the railing support and ledger plate, whicih carries half the load of the joists and deck, were removed from the house. Water damage, which was discovered at the ledger plate location, was expertly repaired (water proofing, insullation, etc.) before the new ledger plate was installed. When the old deck was originally constructed, a 3 and 3/4 inch wide strip was cut out of each of 9 rows of siding for the railing support which was attached to the house. The removal of the old railing support left an unsightly gap in the siding and 18 inch long sections of the 9 rows of siding between the gap and the corner of the house. Lou and his men devised a clever method to eliminate the gap and fix the siding problem. The 18-inch long sections were removed and discarded. Sections of siding near the gap and sections of siding from below the deck were combined and relocated to the problem area. The fix was so well executed that I could not tell where the existing siding remained and where the relocated siding had been installed. Lou was able to find and acquire new siding that matched the color of the old siding almost perfectly. The new siding was installed below the deck, replacing the siding that had been relocated. Any difference in color between the existing siding and the new siding under the deck is not discernable. After the two unforseen problems were handled, the project proceeded steadily to completion. Despite the cold and often inclement winter weather, Chris and Josh demonstrated that they are hardy and skilled artisans, who were able construct a deck that is both functional as well as asthetically pleasing. Below are two photos of the finished deck. Relative to the above item "Approximate cost of service," the original agreed upon price for the deck replacement was $12,000. The additional $1470 covered the costs of purchasing additional material, repairing the water damage, fixing the siding problem, and acquiring the required town permit. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the deck and the people of PerfectView Remodeling who constructed it.
Description of Work: Demolish the old deck and supporting structure; dispose of old deck material; construct a new 220 square foot deck approximately 10 feet above the groung with Timber Tech composite decking and Azek Premium railings; and construct a new set of 4 foot wide stairs including a 4 foot by 4 foot intermediate landing and a 50 inch by 50 inch ground-level concrete landing.

I was not particularly satisfied with that process. He was very, very distracted. I got the impression that he was probably too busy which was probably a good thing for him. I had a bunch of questions because this was a new process for me for putting in flooring. I knew that he was a more extensive contractor than just doing floors so I had questions about another project I was considering. He basically came into the house and barely wanted to talk to me. He did all the measurements and told me that he would get in touch with me. He didn't offer me any opportunity to talk to him at all. He was so distracted that he walked off and left a piece of equipment at my house. I think he was just too busy. Two weeks went by and he didn't get me the estimate. I called and let him know that I had already selected somebody else to do the work and that he could come and pick up the piece of equipment that he left behind. Before I had a chance to explain, he said that he had been very busy and that he would get to work on the estimate. I was not impressed. I got estimates from 3 others and they had them to me within 2 or 3 days. I never got an estimate from him.

I thought we had a good experience but it turns out I had to get my shower completely redone because he used the wrong materials to put the tile done. It was completely wet and we couldn’t get the tiles to match so it had to get redone. I saw him on Angie’s List so I called him. When I saw that he had an A rating, I was shocked. He told me to send an e-mail and he never followed up. They were very easy to work with. They were friendly, professional, and prompt. They did what they said they were gonna do. I think they were inexperienced with showers at that time. The floor of the shower wasn't right so they did come back. What they did was rather than take out what was there, they just put more tile on top of it so now we had double tiles. That wasn't right and I tried to get them to come back for about 6-7 months and they wouldn't come back. He just didn't answer my calls after that. He was responsive in the beginning. They're a little on the expensive side.

Description of Work: I called on 9/17/2013 and scheduled an appointment for 9?19/2013. I want to have an addition added to my walk-out basement, and a bathroom added in the cellar. Louis said he would be there, but a different person came and was late. I am an extremely thorough individual, and planned this project down to the smallest detail. So much in fact that I created and provided computer generated schematics with measurements, locations of lighting, outlets, receptacles, etc. I provided my projects specifications and requirements (exact same) to a total of 8 different Contractors. Each of the contractors I submitted a RFP to (Request For Proposal), came to the house to do an in-person assessment before providing us with their quote. PerfectView sent an individual who was very nice and seemed knowledgeable, and whom I was told would be the assigned ?Project Manager? for the duration of our job. While he was on site, we walked through the basement, and I described in detail what we were looking to have done. This individual seemed to be taking notes, and acknowledged he understood the scope of the project. About 1 week later, after receiving all of the competing bids (PerfectView being the least expensive), I contacted our ?Project Manager? to, once again, confirm the details of what we were looking for. After multiple communications back and forth with this person, we were provided with a Final Quote from them, and decided to hire PerfectView for the job. When it came time to physically sign the contract, I met with the ?Project Manager? to review the contract and provide a deposit. During our meeting, I continued to inquire about why all of the specific details of what we had discussed (both verbally and via email) had not been incorporated into the contract, and was told that those details ?were insignificant to the scope of the overall project, that we could makes those decisions/changes as they came up, and that they would not affect the pricing of the project.? Believing him, and relying on his ?expertise,? we proceeded through the signing of the contract. Everything up to this point had gone extremely smooth. It wasn't until the work was supposed to begin that we started running into issues. After my deposit had been cashed, and as the specified ?Project Start Date? was approaching, I reached out to the Project Manager, who informed me that he was no longer employed with PerfectView. I immediately contacted Lou Cook, and he ensured me that this would be a non-issue. Long story short; work began almost 1.5 weeks late, took more than 1 month and 1 week longer to complete than was contractually agreed upon (I assume responsibility for 5 days due to a flooring contractor I hired independently, who ran into some installation issues), 4 out of the 5 sub-contractors/employees PerfectView had on this project all either quit, or were fired before the completion of work, resulting in non-satisfactory work being done, having other people attempting to ?repair? or finish others? incomplete work, me being asked to pay more than our agreed upon costs, and me spending 40+ hours of my own time at nights re-patching, re-skim coating, re-sanding and re-priming shotty drywall work, re-painting an amateur painter?s work, and putting the finishing touches on what we paid to be a ?start-to-finish? project. Fortunately, I am somewhat handy, and can do this work myself. From what I can deduce, these issues were the result of not dealing directly with Lou from the onset of the project, getting every minute detail into the contract (although fortunately I do have email communications) and receiving a low-ball quote from a ?Project Manager? trying to win business with no regard for the ROI of the company they were representing. It wasn?t until Lou got directly involved that he realized the scope of the project had been ?miscommunicated? to him, and in turn, the sub-contractors he hired for the job. Bottom-line, they were trying to remain profitable on this project by cutting corners where they could, rather than doing the right thing, and paying the professionals to do 100% of the job they were hired to do. It is unfortunate because had Lou handled this appropriately, and been directly involved from start-to-finish, I am confident that the project would have turned out differently, and I would have given them a phenomenal review and offered many referrals (not to mention hire them again for other projects we have in the near future.)

We did the demo ourselves down to the studs to save money. Lou's (the owner) guys were there every day and very professional. Any disagreement as to how something was to be done was always worked out to everyone's satisfaction. They listened and always took our opinions and concerns into consideration. The kitchen turned out great. Lou almost always returned my e-mails or phone calls in a timely manner. The over the sink LED lights failed maybe two or three weeks after the job was finished. I called Lou and he had someone come by in a couple of days took the defective lights and came back in a week with a replacement.
