We paid $1600.00 as a deposit at the initial signing of the contract. We then paid the remaining $2930 in good faith after they said they completed the job. The total amount of days they told us was 2. After day 2, I noticed the rigid foam was only 2 inches instead of 4 which I was quoted. When every they would come to resolve a problem, we would notice another problem. They ended up coming 4 days instead of 2. On day 2, I asked them to be honest with me and if there were any other errors. They informed me that everything was good. I inspected myself after and found out that about 80% of the air sealing was not done. Also within that time period, the crew was very unprofessional. They never refereed to the contract. When ever I informed that what they were doing was not per the contract, they informed they don't look at the contract and they are told what to do by their boss. They also were running out materials during the project. They informed me in order to finish the project that they would need to go back to the warehouse for more supplies. They didn't end up finishing the job until 9 pm on day 2. They complained about their upper management to me as well. I did contact the department of consumer protection and they lead me to believe that there were somethings that were striking them as suspicious. I was told by the agent on the phone that the owner has not registered his business with the state of Connecticut since 2011. The agent also informed that there is no active sales person for the company. What that meant to me was that the sales person I worked with and signed the contract with is not licensed, so the contract is not valid. I contact the sales person and asked for his home inspector sales person license and he said his boss had. His boss then informed me that he did not have one. On Saturday, we asked for our money back, he declined. I then asked for his home inspector sales person license and he informed me that he did not have one. I then spoke with Dr. Energy Saver, including management and the president and they informed me that there is nothing they can do for me.
Description of Work: We hired them to air seal and insulate our attic, rigid foam board insulation, and insulate seal recessed can lights. They were also supposed to install a scuttle hatch cover, as well insulate and air seal rim joist with a spray foam product.

The original sales call for this quote was professional and 'no pressure'. The company was very patient while I worked out the financing for the job. And they provided references of previous customers who did call me back (all positive). I did research comparative pricing but, decided I wanted the better materials and an experienced work crew. The crew arrived on time each day. The weather was extremely hot the week this work was done yet they persevered. They were very efficient and their experience was evident. The quality of the work was very good and the materials used seem excellent. Once they cut access into the attic area, I learned that there was NO INSULATION in my home (built in 1960). One other strong point, the clean-up the crew completed was quite thorough. My only negative is that the team members ordering the materials did not appear to estimate the correct volumes needed and this caused delays. The work could have been done in two days with better materials planning, instead it took three and that meant the crew worked in the late afternoon heat one 97 degree day. This company educated me well on the options for this home improvement and explained each step of the job as they proceeded. I look forward to paying for less heating oil this winter!
Description of Work: Insulation: Rim joist sealed, knee wall area on second floor insulated and cellulose insulation blown throughout the attic area. Replaced venting fan in the upstairs bath, installed a timer switch. Installed an insulated door in the basement to the hatch exit. Additional services: Removed old paneling and studs in the basement that had molded due to water damage (and brought to a landfill). Built a latched door to replace plywood that covered the entrance to the knee wall storage in a 2nd floor bedroom. Replaced a bad light fixture in the basement laundry area.
