They will not return phone calls and we have been calling them for 2 + years for them to come and repair the damages. DO NOT BUY a pool from this company. It is costing us $40K to repair the damage.

RUN from this company! Horrible customer service, very difficult to work with and will cost you money with every interaction. They do not stand by their products or installations. Extremely short staffed, highly emotional employees that are not solutions oriented (just complainers) and will make your pool experience super frustrating. There are so many reputable pool companies out there so do yourself a favor and find another company. Many times we had asked for a call from one of the owner's, but it just fell on deaf ears as they will take your money, but don't have the decency to address your concerns. Plain and simple - they suck!

Horrible. So bad, we bought a website so people could see how they left our yard, and quality of their work. Our opinion is on par with the other F grades. They told us an infiltration system would cost 2500 to put in and then confirmed two days before we signed the pool contract when we asked. They basically left a zero off and denied they ever promised to do so (that is, until we showed them the email where they gave that quote). Anyway, if you search for pools by murphy sucks, or put poolsbymurphysucks into your browser window, our website should come up.

This was the most difficult company I have ever worked with. They didn't show up, they didn't honor their promises, the job took much longer than was promised or planned, they dug and ruined my water pump lines and cable lines and then refused to pay for the damage and repair despite the fact that I had a written statement from an objective water pump company. Everything ends in a law suit with Pools By Murphy. It took almost 2 years to get the hot tub working! They are just a nightmare to deal with and I would not recommend them to anyone at this point. I had to pay other contractors to come and fix what they did to the pool cover, patio, and overall functionality of the pool. They are not to be trusted.

Although delayed by about a month, the installation of the pool went well. As with my past experience with these types of providers, the money is in the big work (i.e. installation) for them and not in providing stellar customer service and keeping their customers happy. Being pool neophytes, we depended on Pools By Murphy for all of our supplies and advice as we wanted to make sure the pool was being maintained properly. They instructed us especially on how to take care of the pool's water chemistry and while we can't swear and declare we checked the water every week, we did everything we were instructed to do within reason: checked PH levels, scrubbed and vacuumed, used chlorine tabs and shocked the pool weekly. Issues arose late last year, almost our 3rd year of ownership. At this point, as I mentioned above, their customer service became shoddy with late or no returned calls on our various messages and a late pool closing after Hurricane Sandy which left our pool black and our filter clogged. We stressed that we needed it cleaned before closing, but since we were not home we were not able to confirm. When the pool was finally opened this past May, it was a black, murky mess. The service techs on site were able to filter out most of the gunk after 4 hours and we were grateful, but we still had dark green water with a lot of particulates. We were instructed by the techs to shock the pool every day until the water attained. Turns out we did not get back to complete clarity for almost a week, 7 bottles of shock later. Oddly enough, sometime in early July, our heater when out. We called Pools By Murphy and the techs came out and told us that the tank in the heater had developed a hole. So I of course asked, what would cause that to happen as the heater was new and they said chemicals and/or PH balance. I responded that we did nothing but use the chemicals instructed by the pool company and we did our best to keep the PH balanced. They said this was a rare occurrence, but we would need a new heater, a $2800 cost! Mind you, as I mentioned above, it was merely a 3 year old heater (1 1/2 years old if you count that we only use it half a year) and I was livid. We petitioned Pools By Murphy (one of the owner's Frank) for a free replacement and were basically told it was our fault for not keeping the PH balanced and for using harsh chemicals in the pool (The techs had told Frank that I said I used chemicals in the pool. Total nonsense). In addition, and I did not relate it at the time, Frank told me the story of a customer who erroneously poured shock into her pool every day for two weeks and had her heater's tank rupture as well. It was days after, while angrily contemplating whether or not to buy a new heater, that Frank's story sank in. I had been instructed to shock the pool daily by his techs to get the pool clarity back. Did this cause the heater to ultimately give? We think it is very likely. And perhaps this could have been avoided if our calls to clean the pool properly and close it, prior to Sandy, would have been answered. My wife had followed up with calls to Pools By Murphy and of course none were answered until today, where she was treated rudely and Frank once again accused us of not taking care of our pool and trying to get something for free. Now as I mentioned before, we did nothing without their advice nor did we add any chemicals into the pool not sanctioned by them. And while we did not check the PH balance daily, I can tell you we checked it at least every other week. Perhaps Pools By Murphy should stress to new pool owners that the PH levels in your pool could adversely affect your heater! Seems to me it is more lucrative not to in order to charge more money (and over charge at that as comparisons with other A-rated Angie's List pool service providers in the area has Pools By Murphy charging almost $600 more on a similar heater installation). This was a huge investment for us and we did not take it lightly, so I resent the fact that Frank and his team at Pools By Murphy would imply that we took its care lightly. Who do you know wants to buy a new heater every 3 years at $2800? Have you experienced this or something similar with Pools By Murphy? If so, please write a review and you can help others avoid the same fate.

Very bad experience from beginning to end. I purchased my house and during the inspection process they noticed some chunks of concrete falling into the pool. We asked the previous owners to fix it prior to us moving in. They called Murphy Pools who built the pool (as well as providing annual opening/closing services) and Murphy Pool provided a letter in writing signed by the head of construction that they will fix the issues free of charge at the opening of the pool season. I then hired Murphy to provide weekly/bi-weekly pool maintenance services and had the pool opening in April to give them time to fix the issue with the concrete chunks falling in the pool. When I called them they first tired to say that they don't recall agreeing to fixing the issues around the pool. I then faxed them a copy of the signed letter and then they said they will "get to is when they get to it". I called every couple of weeks and continued to get the runaround. I even talked to the Murphy Pool maintenance crew that would come to the house every week and they said that they get complaints all the time about how bad the construction/engineering department is and they recommend just trying to find someone else to do it. The maintenance crew did an satisfactory job but the service department that deals with fixing issues is very poor. As you can imagine I'm getting very frustrated the later in year we go without the issue being fixed and more concrete falling into the pool. The issue was getting worse and worse. I didn't get snippy or too agitated during my calls for help to Murphy Pools. Finally in September/October I voiced my concerns. Instead of being apologetic, they actually screamed at me and basically said "too bad, we have more important jobs to deal with than yours". Finally I called someone else to fix the issue and I'm out approx $500 because of it. I will no longer use Murphy Pools again.
