My experience with Plumtrees plumbing and heating: The morning we woke up and realized we had no hot water, we had called our oil company to have someone to come out and service the hot water heater. Our hot water heater was installed in 2010 so it is fairly new. The oil company subcontracts out to service companies as they are C.O.D. and they had Plum Trees plumbing and heating do our service. When they called they gave us a reasonable window time of 12-2p so I stayed home from work to make this happen. When 3 o’clock came and went, I had called and said no one came. He explained that they got held up and to give them 30 minutes. The guy shows up an hour and a half later. Unfortunately, we had an appointment at 5pm so we had to leave. Luckily, we had someone babysitting my daughter while we went to our appointment. When the guy finished up, he squawked at the babysitter for not having someone there to pay him and she assured him that we will call as soon as we get back with a credit card to pay; which we did. I had also already explained that to the man before we left and he said OK. The bill came to a whopping $375! So I was curious as to what costs so much. Come to find out, the $175 parts fee was to pay for a filter, and a primary control that costs about $45. But we didn’t say anything, it was fixed or so we thought. Well a few days later much to our surprise we woke up to find no hot water so we called, again. We wouldn’t of necessarily gone with them again but we just paid $375 for something that wasn’t fixed and was hoping they would honor that. This time the guy gave us an open-ended time from of “in the afternoon”. When the time was nearing 5p and no one came, I called and asked if they were coming. I got a “yep we are just finishing up a job and will be over within the hour”…..No one came. This morning, he calls to say they got held up again and gave me another open-ended time frame. So I told him not to bother coming we will find someone else to do the work. It was obvious in his response that was what he wanted us to do in the first place. “Well if that’s what you have to do” was his response. He knew that would happen and also has my $325 for a crappy job. Their website said they are customer-focused. Clearly not the small fish. So if you want terrible service and get screwed on parts, use plumtrees plumbing and heating.
Description of Work: We lost hot water in our oil fired hot water heater and they came out to fix it.

PLUMBER "BOB" HAD EARLIER IN THE YEAR PERFORMED A WELL PUMP REPAIR FOR US. HIS STICKER WAS PLASTERED ALL OVER OUR WELL AND WATER HEATER SO WE ELECTED TO CALL HIM WHEN WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR WATER PRESSURE. HE CAME TO THE HOUSE, SEEMED KNOWLEDGEABLE AND FRIENDLY. HE DID NOT SECURE THE NEW PUMP LINE AS SOLIDLY AS THE FORMER ONE HAD BEEN SECURED, SO WE ARE HOPING HIS REPAIR WILL LAST. WE ASKED HIM AT THAT TIME ABOUT WINTERIZING OUR HOME. WE WERE PLANNING TO BE GONE MOST OF THE WINTER AND I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE HOUSE WOULD BE UNOCCUPIED AND I DID NOT WANT TO COME HOME TO A BURST PIPE OR WORSE. PLUMBER "BOB" OUTLINED WHAT HE WOULD DO UNDER OUR CIRCUMSTANCES AND GAVE US A ROUGH ESTIMATE OF COSTS. AFTER THINKING OUR OPTIONS OVER FOR A WHILE, I CALLED PLUMTREES AND SCHEDULED THE WINTERIZATION FOR THE DAY BEFORE WE WERE SCHEDULED TO LEAVE. THAT DAY ARRIVED AND WELL INTO THE MORNING I CALLED PLUMTREES AND WAS TOLD PLUMBER BOB WAS OUT ON AN EMERGENCY. I WAS GIVEN HIS CELL PHONE NUMBER. I CALLED HIM AND HE WAS NEITHER APOLOGETIC NOR CIVIL TO ME. BASICALLY I WAS TOLD THAT MY JOB WAS A GET TO IT WHEN I CAN JOB AND THESE OTHER JOBS CAME FIRST. WHEN I TOLD HIM WE HAD SCHEDULED THIS WELL IN ADVANCE AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE COULD DO FOR US, HE TOLD ME HE COULD SHOUT LOUDER THAN I COULD. FUNNY THING WAS I WAS NOT SHOUTING. I WAS A CLIENT IN DISTRESS AND FROM MY PERSPECTIVE THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY. EVENTUALLY AFTER THREATENING NOT TO DO THE JOB AT ALL, HE TOLD ME HE WOULD COME THE NEXT MORNING. THE NEXT MORNING CAME AND WENT AND BOB NEVER CALLED. I CALLED THE OFFICE AND HE WAS OUT ON AN EMERGENCY. THIS WENT ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL FROM BOB AGAIN. HE HAS NEVER CALLED SINCE IN THE MONTH THAT HAS PASSED SINCE OUR ORIGINAL APPOINTMENT. ULTIMATELY, WE WERE FORCED TO INSTALL A FREEZE MONITOR AND LEAVE THE SYSTEM INTACT. OUR FINGERS AND TOES ARE CROSSED. I HAVE A SON IN THE AREA WHO CAN LOOK IN ON OCCASION, BUT HIS TIME IS LIMITED. WE ARE HOPING THERE ARE NO DISASTERS WAITING FOR US AND WHILE WE HAVE NO RECOURSE WITH PLUMBER "BOB" I FELT IT APPROPRIATE TO BRING THIS UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR TO THE PUBLIC. IF HE DID NOT WANT THE JOB, WHY DID HE NOT JUST TELL ME THAT FROM THE BEGINNING SO I COULD HAVE MADE OTHER PLANS. THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GOING TO GET ANOTHER PLUMBER IN AT THE LAST MINUTE TO DO THE KIND OF JOB I HAD SCHEDULED WITH PLUMTREES. PLUMBER BOB DID A DR, JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE ON ME. I COULD HARDLY BELIEVE HE WAS THE SAME MAN I HAD IN MY KITCHEN A FEW WEEKS BACK SAMPLING MY FABULOUS WELL WATER!! THERE WAS NOTHING I SAID OR DID THAT COULD JUSTIFY PLUMBER BOB'S DISRESPECTFUL AND WHOLLY UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR.
Description of Work: PLUMBER "BOB" NEVER PERFORMED SERVICE AS SCHEDULED, NOR AS RE-SCHEDULED AND LEFT US HANGING DESPITE HAVING MADE AN APPOINTMENT WELL IN ADVANCE. SINCE THIS WAS A WINTERIIZATION PROCEDURE AND WE WERE A OUT TO GO ON VACATION, THE LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND PROFESSIONALISM ON PLUMBER"BOB'S" PART WAS DETRIMENTAL TO THE WELFARE OF OUR HOME AND HAD US SCRAMBLING TO LEAVE TOWN WITH A SECURE HOUSE.
