We were looking to upgrade our central AC unit to a new heat pump system for both AC and heating (with oil boiler as backup) in order to improve efficiency and take advantage of our solar panels. I received proposals from three companies. Carlos was by far the best in terms of understanding what I was looking for, promptly answering a lot of questions, and proposing the right product for us at a very competitive price. The heat pump is state of the art and the installation had a lot of moving parts - replacing indoor air handler, adding UV filter, coil for backing heating, new control panel for three zones, new smart thermostats, and lots of wiring. Carlos and team got it done in a day and everything is working great. This is an extremely professional and thorough company with great service and a pleasure to deal with, could not be happier.

We solicited three proposals for the replacement of our worn-out home central air conditioner, choosing contractors based on web research. Carlos and Bob made a great first impression, and their knowledge and experience was evident throughout our conversation. Their positive impression was head-and-shoulders above the others, and we decided that we would hire them before we even saw their quote. The quote was competitive, and a few days later, they arrived on time, with our shiny new Lennox units. Since our original Lennox had lasted 27 years, we thought it reasonable to stay with that brand, as recommended by Carlos and Bob. They took full responsibility for every aspect of the project, not leaving any loose ends for us. For example, we wanted modern, internet-connected thermostats with LCD screens, but we didn’t have enough wires in the wall to accommodate the usual models. Carlos and Bob figured out a way to make it all work; creating our Honeywell account, connecting to our internet and getting everything working together correctly. Outside, the pad for our outdoor unit was in sorry shape. Bob went so far as to carefully select individual rocks from our rock garden to properly elevate the new pad, carefully avoiding the appearance of missing rocks from our garden. It actually looks beautiful. At the end of the day, we had a very clean installation, all the wires to the new circuit boards were neatly bundled, all of the duct joints taped neatly, etc. The air conditioner has functioned perfectly from that first day on, with zero problems. Lisa, the office coordinator, handled all the logistical details perfectly, and was very pleasant to work with. It is rare to find people with such a combination of competence, dedication to detail and pleasantness; so I enthusiastically submit this well-deserved positive review. John Cutter Ridgefield, CT

This is a very small company owned by Robert and his wife Lisa. They have only a few employees. The customer service that they provided after the initially installation was very poor. I purchased the system in May of 2016 and paid them in full on 6/16/2016 $8,258.49 of which $7,7727.65 was for the Heat Pump and Air Handler System. On 4/26/2017 I called NEAS to schedule my annual service. They refused to provide service on my new system and told me to go somewhere else. History of Service with NEAS: After I paid them in full, within the first few months my system was making a loud banging noise. I called NEAS and Lisa answered the phone. She was very rude and has poor customer service skills. Lisa tried to tell me on the phone that my system was working just fine, because I could run it on emergency mode and leave it that way forever. She acted like it was not a problem that I had a loud banging noise with my outdoor condenser because she insisted I didn't need the outdoor condenser. Although, technically I could run my system on 100% electric it is not cost efficient and it is certainly not what I expected when I bought this particular unit for the price that I paid. After several months of waiting and several phone calls, my system was fixed. Then on 4/26/2017 (within the first year) I called to set up my annual service appointment and Lisa answered the phone. I could tell on the phone that she didn't want to service my system and she gave me the run around. She didn't come right out and tell me on the phone that she would not service my equipment but she told me she was sure that the manufacture had to service my equipment under the contract. I told her that I didn't have any arrangement with the manufacturer for service. She was sure that I did. She told me she was booked up and could not get me in. I asked her when her first available appointment was and she said maybe late June. I told her that was fine. I asked her how much did it cost and she said $150. I told her that was fine. Then I said I will call the manufacture to double check what she had told me and call her back if I didn't have a service agreement with them.I called the manufacture and was told that they never service the units themselves under any of their contracts and that I needed to have my dealer (NEAS) service it. I called Lisa back and she didn't answer so I left her a message that my friend was trying to call them and set up an appointment for my Spring and Winter cleaning. I asked her to please schedule a date with him and that he would be flexible to accommodate their schedule. I told her I would take the June date and I wanted to schedule my winter appointment at the same time. I got my friend involved because he is an Architect and he works with contractors all day long. Also, I felt that Lisa was giving me the run around. Lisa called my friend and she told him that they had a meeting and they decided that I was too difficult to work with and they would NOT service my equipment. Apparently, Lisa is gate keeper and she calls the shots in the office. Although her husband Robert is a nice man, if you do not get along with Lisa you will have a very bad experience. I discovered that Lisa has done this to another customer and there is a complaint filed with the BBB. Due to the lack of serving their own installations, I can not recommend NEAS.
Description of Work: On May 2016 NEAS installed a brand new Heat Pump and Air Handler System for $7,727.65 and did other misc. work on my new Condo for a total of $8,258.49.

Dear Ms. [Member Name Removed], We are sorry that you feel that way. However there seems to be a discrepancy with the facts in your review: -Lisa is an employee of NEAS and has been our office manager for the past 10 years. She is not related to me -You neglected to follow the warranty registration procedure set forth by Lennox, therefore your warranty coverage was downgraded to a 5 year parts warranty. The registration information was clearly stated on your contract and is also listed in your owner's manual -The problem you experienced with your Lennox system was a manufacturer issue and of no fault of NEAS as your system passed installation inspection per town codes. NEAS and Lennox did correct your issue free of charge -Based on your irrational and abusive phone manner to our office staff, we have decided to end our business relationship -We do wish you the best of luck with your future HVAC needs

My air conditioner went out one day and I was desperate. I was new to town and did not know anybody. I went to Angie's List, they had several and ldquo;Aand rdquo; ratings, and that is how I chose them. They came out twice in June. Each visit was $200. Then when they left, they recommended that I do something else, and gave me an estimate. We have not had the problem since. They said that it would keep us from having the problem again. I am very happy with it and it was very hot. They were very busy, I called, and they came out two days later. I thought that the price was very reasonable. They were professional, responsive and they did what they said they would. I would use them again.
Description of Work: New England Air Systems fixed my air conditioner. The first time they added freon and checked to see if their were any other issues and then cleaned the system. The second time they installed a air conditioner condenser freeze stat.

Called for an emergency cleaning because I ran out of oil and had no heat. Lisa was very understanding and easy to work with. Price was a little high compared to others, but sounded like they really knew what they were doing so I went with them. Spoke with Lisa a couple of times throughout the day, always professional. The repair guys, definitely not. First of all, they barely spoke English. When I asked one of them to show me how to bleed the line so I would know for next time he had no idea what I was talking about and walked away. Then his partner comes in with a mask on saying he is sick and needs to call his boss because he doesn't think he can do the job. He comes back in a few minutes and says he is sick and that he doesn't and quot;have enough hoursand quot;. Instead of the cleaning I had scheduled for $225, he offers to just and quot;get the furnace runningand quot; for $140. I call the office and Lisa immediately gives me to someone else, named Bob. No idea who he is, she just transferred me (there went the professionalism right out the window as soon as there was a problem). Bob tells me the tech said he didn't have the right equipment to do the job. I tell him no, that is not what the tech said, so he says he'll call the tech and call me back. He calls back and says oh yeah, the tech said there is a smell like a dead animal that is making him sick and he can't do the work and that he was too afraid to tell his boss that the first time. Huh? My furnace is in a combination garage/basement and while it definitely doesn't smell like roses it pretty much smells like every other garage or basement I have ever been in. I think I might notice if my house smelled like a dead animal :) So since it is late in the day and I had counted on this company that had seemed so professional I am forced to be without heat overnight because it's too late to get anyone else. Oh, and it's a Friday to boot which means now I'll have to pay extra for a weekend service call! I would never, ever recommend this company unless perhaps they hire professional techs, even then not so sure. Giving them a D and not an F because things started out well and just went downhill from there.
Description of Work: Requested cleaning, quoted $225. When arrived said they couldn't clean but could "get the furnace up and running" for $140. See below for details.

UNHEALTHY WORKING CONDITIONS. We spoke to Member several times during the day on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in order to accommodate her request for service due to the fact she ran out of oil and had no heat. We kept a crew on stand-by, awaiting her phone call that the oil delivery had taken place, so we could start the heating system. We even rescheduled a new customer to accommodate Member, because a "no heat" call take priority over other calls. Upon arrival to her home, our technicians were told to enter the basement/garage area of the home to service her heating system. In doing so, the technicians found EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY AND UNSANITARY CONDITIONS INCLUDING THE STRONG SMELL OF URINE, FECES AND DECAY. The technicians phone the office to advise them of the situation, and as to not embarrass the customer of the poor conditions, the technicians were advised to quickly start the system so the customer could have heat and to not fully service the unit at this time. Member declined our services at that point and could not understand why this decision was being made. Member phoned the office and spoke with Bob, the service manager. He advised Ms. Smith of the dangerous, unhealthy conditions of her basement/garage area and if she would agree to clean it up, then we would be more than happy to service the heating system. Member became very irate and insisted that her basement/garage area is just fine and could not believe that we would not force our technicians to perform the services she requested and then ended the conversation. How do you keep your professionalism and tell a customer that they are living in squalor and that you take the health and safety of your employees very seriously and do not want them subject to that kind of environment? I am told that if you live with an odor or smell long enough, you do not smell it anymore. You actually become accustom to the odor. I believe this is Member's scenario. In all my years of being in the heating and cooling industry and the countless number of basement and garage areas we have been in, we never, ever have come across such an unhealthy space in an occupied home before. To ask me to force my staff to work in such conditions, to breathe in dangerous and possibly toxic fumes that were making their stomachs turn and was causing them to have labored breathing, is just unimaginable. When our technicians came back to the shop, they informed the service manager that they were actually walking on dried up rat feces and the strong smell of urine was too overwhelming for them to continue to stay in Member's home. Unfortunately, we were unable to accommodate the customers service needs due to the unhealthy and unsanitary conditions within her home. Services for Member were cancelled by her and we did not charge her for coming out to her house. We will not go back to this house until the condition of her basement/garage area greatly improve.

They arrived on time. Wore booties in my home. Actually cleaned not only the inside but the outside of my boiler-it sparkles now! They explained everything in detail to me and answered all my questions in a way that I could understand. Great Job NEAS! Would definitely recommend them to everyone. They also sent me a thank you note with a coupon towards a future visit-very nice touch. They want a customer for life, not just a one shot deal. Very refreshing to find a company that actually cares about its customers.

I am very impressed with New England Air Systems. They were very pleasant and professional both on the phone and in person. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a heating and air conditioning company. New England Air Systems really raises the bar on customer service standards. Extremely happy.
Description of Work: I called New England Air Systems at 4:55pm one day because my AC was not working. It was nice to have an actual person answering the phone. Her name was Lisa and she was most helpful. She actually tried to walk me through a couple of problem solving steps before scheduling an appointment. Not many companies will do that anymore. She did inform me, up front, of the cost of a service call fee, which was nice so I knew what to expect. I did schedule an appointment for the next day - thank goodness, because it was really hot. The techs who came out and on time (Carlos and Bob) really knew their stuff and were very professional. In a matter of minutes, they found the problem, gave me a estimate to fix and fixed it. They even did a complete system check for free. Great job guys! Now my AC works beautifully. I am even going to sign up for one of their maintenance contracts. Wish I had found them much sooner.
