All the work was performed and went very well. All of Helio's crew were exceptionally courteous. Job well done.

Helio is simply amazing. His team was punctual and professional. The work was done perfectly. And the price is fair and there is no hidden charges. Simply put, Helio is an honest and competent contractor. We will hire him again for all our future work.

I will say that overall...I was very satisfied with how the finished product came out. Not sure if my expectations were unrealistic from the get go. I guess I was really hoping to be hands off once I hired HM Construction. When I hired HM, I was clear on what I wanted ( other than the glass shower enclosure everything else seemed pretty straight forward) but throughout certain intervals of the project I felt it necessary to jump in and course correct the project by calling out certain things that needed attention (like the shower door opening (placement), electrical switches and what lights were to be on what switch (control), I had to pick up the marble that was to be used for shower, to name a few). After working with Helio (owner) who by the way was very professional and responsive to my every ask. . Helio's main focus and objective was to make "the customer" happy and stay committed to what we agreed upon at all cost. By no means do not take this as mediocre review. It was a very good experience overall considering all the horror stories you hear about or read blogs about. I was fortunate to have Helio in my corner in the end. The workmanship was very good and the crew always professional and courteous. I would hire HM construction again. In fact I have a kitchen project that I hope to have completed next year which I plan on bringing HM construction onboard to complete. Overall satisfaction A-.

Well. Workers were timely in their arrival in the mornings. Work was completed timely. Added on additional work (water seal side of home) and they were able to accommodate us and complete an excellent job. At the end of each night, they used a blower to clean the area around the foundation of the home to clear any debris that was left behind from their work. Quality of work was excellent and home looks amazing with the new coat of paint!

I realize my experience (based on other AL reviews) is not necessarily in the majority and I have read ALL of Helio's responses to negative reviews, and I would challenge him to defend what happened in my home. What I am about to write is nothing that I haven't said to him in person. I hired Helio on the recommendation of a close friend, and was impressed with my initial discussion. However it became very clear that my trust was misplaced. The crew that were dispatched to my home, although extremely nice, were clearly not the A team...I travel a lot for business so wasn't there every day and when I finally got to see what exactly the team had painted I was horrified. Yes everyone has a "punch" list but when it includes things like "paint a straight line, and remove paint from my oak stairs" there is an issue. Yes Helio was more than willing to "fix" anything I wanted fixed - my problem was/is that you shouldn't have to come fix them 4 times. I have photos that show a) how certain rooms in my home were left and b) how the "punch list" was addressed. I had a cleaning crew come in after the initial painting was complete to clean up the paint dust because the crew didn't cover my furniture the way they should have, and then again when they "fixed" everything they were supposed to fix. When I came home to the "finished" job I sent Helio photos (my house was left in total disarray with nothing put back to where it was supposed to be - mirrors/photos left in a heap in one room/curtains unhung/pictures unhung etc. ) and got ...ZERO response. When he arrived onsite to complete the punch list I asked why he hadn't responded and he said he was "ashamed"- .really??? So let me get this right..you own a company who had full access to my home and who subsequently treated my home like it was nothing and you won't respond to a client's concerns/complaints because you are "ashamed"? The punch list was a joke - Helio's team showed up at least 4 times and managed to a) drop paint on a Pottery Barn Rug in my hallway (they subsequently had it cleaned - thank you) and b) put paint on curtains that were imported from overseas (and yes you managed to get the paint out- thank you - but you shouldn't have had the paint on them in the first place!!). Yes Helio ended up giving me $1,000 off the overall price but honestly I would rather pay for the job that I hired for versus this absolute crap job that was provided. Helio will say that the window he installed was "way more work than anticipated" but I (again) have photos of the finished job where I now have to have another contractor come in and figure out why I have bubbling in two places. The shoe molding that was installed in a number of rooms is uneven and the paint is again bleeding onto my original oak floors. Again - I am in the minority based on other AL reviews, AND I have been brutally honest with Helio so nothing in this review is a surprise. The $1,000 that Helio knocked off the price will now be paid to someone else to fix what his company did. Like I said to Helio (in person)..."I may not have a really fancy house, BUT, its my home and as such is important to me. If you are asking me to pay over $6K for painting my home then you owe me a good job". So Helio please feel free to respond - I gave you 3 weeks to respond to my last text message and nothing. Like I said to you in my last message (which I got ZERO response to) - I do not want you or your team in my house again. I would NEVER recommend HM Painting

The project went as planned, on time and on budget! The work was great too. It's not often where you get a good price and quality work together.

Very well; our kitchen was completely remodeled and completed on time with beautiful results. We are very pleased. Any issues / concerns we had were promptly addressed.

Helio and his crew were great! Helio was honest, from the start he had many ideas for turning our sunroom into a more function 4 seasonal room. We are so pleased we went with his company and the work is perfect. Any concerns that may have a raised were handled immediately, and extras were done quickly. From the very first contact right thru the completion of my project HM construction (Helio Mota, owner) was very responsive and exceeded my expectations on the final results. Helio was polite, respectful and knowledgeable in his craft. His crew represented the company very well and did a fantastic job of completing the project on time and when they said they would. I've dealt with many contractors in the past and this experience drove a positive customer experience journey for me. Prior to hiring HM Construction I requested references (which were provided without hesitation, a positive sign in my opinion) and after I spoke to a few of their previous customers I knew I found the company I wanted to hire and work with. Each reference I spoke with gave me the review I was hoping to hear. They made my decision much easier because I must admit that even though I received lower estimates from other companies their feedback solidified my decision to hire HM Construction. For me, I am always willing to pay more for quality workmanship and the positive customer experience that I expect. HM Construction certainly delivered and executed on all phases of my project. I will absolutely use HM Construction again for several projects I have lined up for this fall.

Once again, HM Construction and Painting successfully completed this project in a timely manner. The price was reasonable, and the work was done to our complete satisfaction. There are no hidden costs, and Helio makes sure that the job is done in the best way possible. Helio's commitment to providing quality work is also reflected in the crews he hires. They are respectful of the work site and easy to work with, including the painters, electricians, carpenters and masons. They do it all. We give HM Construction and Painting our highest recommendation!

We could not be happier. Helio and his team have been professional, courteous and talented without exception. While the second bathroom is in progress and on schedule, the first bath is complete and far exceeds our expectations.

Excellent Experience! Helio spent time going over all the details of the project and gave a fair price. He worked very closely with me and was very responsive to all my questions and concerns. He returns calls and/or texts immediately which I believe is very important. His timeline for the project was just as we agreed upon. His crew were all professional, neat, friendly and helpful with any questions. Their work is top quality. I am very pleased with my new beautiful kitchen! I will definitely hire Helio again for any future work on my home.

Helio was very responsive, and explained what needed to be done to repair the floor. He was clear that he would not know the extent of the damage until he removed the floor tile. Helio was present at least part of each day they worked, and his main guy on the job, Juan, did great work. They were meticulous about protecting the floor and stairwell in the house before they got started on the work. At the end of the job, Helio even had his staff put a fresh coat of our existing paint on the bathroom walls.

Very professional and responsive. The project stayed on target. Addressed any issues and concerns immediately and to my satisfaction. The crew cleaned up very thoroughly at the end of each day. Easily adjusted to my many last minute changes in the design. Although Helio wasn't there every day with the crew, he also followed up on the progress and my satisfaction with the work product. An issue arose with some of the tiles 3 months after completion and Helio responded and fixed the problem immediately. A true professional and a pleasure to work with.

Helio and his men did an excellent job in painting the exterior of our house. It had been several years since the house was painted and it really needed a lot of work. Helio had his carpenter do a significant number of repairs and even replaced some trim with more durable PVC material. When it came time to painting, there were always several men on-site painting. I was shocked when the job was completed early, which is never the case for us. In addition, Helio was always available to discuss any concerns we had or to go over items. He promptly addressed minor concerns we had at the end of the job. He also did a great job of keeping in touch. Helio was always on-time, save for one instance where he was 15 minutes late. But he even called us when he was running late, which is also something I do not typically see with contractors! Helio was also flexible when it came to materials and did not try to use cheaper paint. Overall, we had a very positive experience and would work with Helio in the future.

Helio helped me re-model my laundry room and did some indoor and outdoor painting. I was very happy with the way the work turned out. Helio was very responsive, and he made sure that I was happy with the end result. I definitely will be using him again.

Helio and his crew did a terrific job. Punctual, quick, good quality and price. He consistently demonstrated his interest in meeting my expectations. He found and fixed issues I hadn't seen and included them as part of the original price. I highly recommend him and if I need more carpentry / painting work, I'll know who to call.

We needed our kitchen completely gutted and redone. We met with Helio and got a good feeling right away. He gave us a very fair quote (unlike most companies) and promised to finish on time and on budget. He even took us out to select material etc... He really cares about his work and his clients. His workers were clean, neat and professional. Julio in particular was excellent. The job came out great, on time and on budget. We couldn't be happier. Helio's reputation is important to him and it shows. I highly recommend his company and would definitely hire again.

It was about as awful of an experience as possible. The owner delayed starting the job and showed up to start job in the garage which was the entire wrong part of the house despite giving Helio and discussing with the owner Helio the list of things we wanted done in writing! Helio brought 1 extra guy on the 1st day of work even though he told me less guys prior to. This in turn changed the agreed way work would be done, asked me for the 1st time the day of work whether we got a permit as he didn't discuss the need for one prior nor went to get one himself. Then his guys damaged 11 sheets of drywall by dropping 2 sheets and running something into the stacked set. His crew then dropped and broke a brand new recessed light, took an hour lunch, took smoke breaks and left an hour early - ALL OF WHICH the owner Helio denied. One of his guys asked me for my online password so he can go online with his phone during work time. Then they installed sheetrock in 1 room, not 2 and installed the front door incorrectly as I've had 3 separate construction companies told me the door and some of the sheetrock was done wrong. To correct the door alone will run $600 to 850! Now if that's not enough, the owner Helio asked me on the last day his crew was here to sign an Angies list document that was blank from the top of the document to near the bottom saying I agreed to him doing the work I listed above and drove off. I texted him to come back and give me a copy. He refused. He claimed he sent that document immediately into Angies List and, listen to this crock of BS, said he didn't keep a copy! We'll that was several weeks ago. 4 different people said they never received anything from this company despite my worries from the beginning that Helio wrote on that document AFTER I signed it!!! I'm contemplating a small claims suit. Im asking Angies List for a refund. Never ever ever again will I use this company. Ever!

This job is difficult to rate using AL criteria because at the end of the day I was very happy with the job, the quality and result. Getting there was a different matter. Helio was very responsive and professional but I suspect the reason I had problems was that he told me that when my job started he had 8 jobs going with 15 men. This degree of fragmentation is difficult for anyone to manage. One the first day he came with his men, showed them the job and delivered material. A single man was left behind to remove the balcony railing, but after 90 minutes he had nothing to do. He dug a hole to set a concrete post but dug it in the wrong place; he never asked where it should be. Then he was about to put in a doug fir post instead of a pressure treated one until I stopped him (the pressure treated post came later, which he installed.) The rest of the day another helper was substituted and did little save some simple prep work. The next day no one came. On the third day, two carpenters showed up and did a fantastic job. They asked me what I wanted, how it should be done, made good suggestions as to technique. The only issue was that I needed to tell them that we had to add extra support posts to meet code; I should not have had to do this. Otherwise they were superb in every way. They cleaned up and left a nearly perfect job. During this time I was waiting for the back door to be delivered early so I could stain it in advance. Helio delivered me a door but it was an interior not an exterior door. Luckily I caught the mistake and had Helio take back the door and get me the proper one, which he did in a few days. The painters came the next day and like their carpenter counterparts did a fantastic job. A few days later a different set of carpenters came and did a great job in installing the door again exceeding my expectations. So when I look at how to rate this, I have to downgrade the company not because of the actual work or price but because of the mistakes that were made that I needed to attend to. Helio has great people and does a very good job. In may case, some of the most important details fell through the cracks, which is why he gets the score that he does. But I would hire him again and most likely will for other work I need doing in the future.

I needed a ceiling fan removed from a cathedral ceiling and a new fan installed in a different place in the ceiling. The workers removed the original fan and patched and prepared the ceiling surface for painting. They also installed the new Casablanca fan, including a heavy duty wood beam behind the surface to hold the 30 lb. weight of the fan. The ceiling where the new fan was installed was also patched and prepared for painting. They completed all electrical changes and connections, and removed a track light, including patching and preparing the ceiling for painting. They also removed an old phone jack outlet and patched and prepared the wall for painting. The workmen were very punctual, professional, and pleasant to work with. They answered my questions and made sure that I understood what steps were being taken. Great care was taken to cover the floor where they would be walking in and out of the house during the job. They also cleaned up afterwards. I am very satisfied with the whole job.
