HM Construction & Painting

We used HM last year for an indoor project and so glad we decided to use them again for our deck addition. Helio and his team did not disappoint! We couldn't be more pleased with the way our project turned out. Their attention to detail is second to none, Helio stayed in constant contact with us keeping us informed every step of the way even offering design assistance to ensure our deck turned out exactly as we wished. Mr. Mota and one of his workers came over to assess the damage, set up a reasonable estimate and timeline to repair. The work was done on time and at budget. The bathroom ceiling looks as good as new again.

This is my second experience with Helio of HM Construction- I texted him one morning about doing some exterior painting and he responded IMMEDIATELY. in the past, I’ve had people tell me that they could start in 8+ weeks . . . Helio was on the job within DAYS. Power washing everything from the roof on down, then they worked as much as the weather would allow and wrapped it up with no unecessay delays. We encountered a last minute issue with an AC pipe leaking through my patio roof and Helio shimmied into the eaves of my attic to diagnose the issue and then called one of his trusty crew to come over and fix it right then and there. This guy does not fool around! They power washed all surfaces on the way out- a great job. If I have another job, Helio would be my go-to guy and i highly recommend (he previously fixed two area of my house that were leaking last fall and not one drop since!)

The men showed up & completed job in a couple of days. I was happy with the results.

I looked at 6 kitchen remodelers for my kitchen. Helio was willing to do all the required work (others would only do some of the work), and offered a competitive price. Helio offered a design for our new kitchen, and worked with us through some design changes. We had an old hot water radiator we wanted removed and Helio offered a few options to keep heat in the kitchen. He patiently worked on the design until we both agreed to the project. Work began on time. This was a complete demolition of the old kitchen, they were very good keeping the rest of my house clean throughout the project. Demolition revealed some sheetrock that would need to be replaced, and the floor had multiple layers that needed to be removed. Helio just took care of it, no issue. Work was done each day, including Saturday, and the project was completed 1 week ahead of the contracted date. The end result is a fabulous new kitchen. Helio was great, his men were very good. I would use him again,

We contacted HM Construction based upon the trusted recommendations of friends and family who have worked with them in the past. We had already entertained a proposal from a competitive contractor with whom we have had satisfactory experiences. Helio Mota was very responsive to our inquiry and met with us at our earliest convenience to review the scope of work, make recommendations and present his proposal. He presented a competitive and favorable cost proposal with clearly stated time lines and terms. The project involved removing existing wall to wall carpeting in the living room and dining room of our 35 year old colonial and installing a new hardwood floor. We specified the use of pre-finished solid oak flooring which HM Construction provided. We also required all new baseboards and shoe molding, the addition of crown molding and integrating what was previously stand alone cabinets and bookshelves. The whole project was completed on time with no glitches, no surprises and a high quality of workmanship. Helio was constantly checking with us to be sure all of our needs and expectations were being met. His crew was courteous and professional at all times. They kept the site clean and neat from beginning to end. Without any reservations I would recommend HM Construction to anyone.

Helio was always on time. His crew was polite and courteous. He was more than accommodating when we made slight changes to the original contract. His work was very good. He and his workers supplied us with very good ideas and suggestions throughout the entire project. The price for his services was reasonable. His workers were very trustworthy and were left in our home alone often. Helio was a pleasure to work with. We would hire him again for future projects.

Helio worked around my schedule when setting up appointments and was available to come by early around 7am which is great when you need to drop off your kids in the morning. Originally we just needed to finish the basement, but during the install we asked him to build a built-in shelving cabinet next to our fireplace and it came out amazing! Helio's group made sure to listen and respond to all my requests during the process and even helped on things I didn't think of. When coming to my home during the middle of the project he noticed my front door was a little hard to open and fixed on his own, now it's much easier to open. HM Construction was referred to me by my sister who was also very happy with her service. I highly recommend using them for most contract needs.

Helio and his team attacked the problem in a comprehensive manner, taking down both the interior sheet rock and exterior siding. His team rebuilt after repairing, painting, replacing warped/ rotten flooring in family room. He also recommended replacing all the exterior trim with Azek (sp?), which we did. He also helped with small things that came up while he was on site. His team handles a wide variety of home related issues. We also decided to have all the gutters replaced while this was going on and he worked well with our gutter/ roofing guy. He answers texts and calls quickly. His team shows up early and stays late.

The renovations are gorgeous and mom couldn't be more pleased. The workmanship is amazing and Helio kept in constant contact with me so I knew what work was being done on during a certain time period. Even more importantly, when I would visit the condo during the reno process and his team was working - each of the people he employed to complete specific jobs were all very welcoming, polite and did great work.

All the men worked diligently and professionally. It did feel a bit rushed and some minor details were not perfect but everything was certainly sufficient for our needs and performed well within our time limit. There was an error on one project that wasn't discovered until the next day, and HM was able to get the error corrected by the following day. Because we are moving, we won't have the opportunity to hire him again, but would recommend him to others.

The work was scheduled promptly, the team showed up as promised and worked to complete all the jobs promptly. They accommodated additional requests, such as adding a bathroom ceiling fan, and worked with us to resolve problems along the way, such as a broken vanity top that was damaged in transit from California.

We would highly recommend H.M construction. Helio provided us with a detailed estimate, he completed all of the work we originally contracted for on time, and also managed to finish some additional work that we requested in the same timeframe. He promised that his team would be at the house every day until the work was finished, and he kept this promise. We provided detailed requirements, and Helio made some helpful suggestions that we accepted, e.g. kitchen tile and paint colors. His team was very courteous and professional in their work. Whenever there were problems, as you will always get with any project like this, Helio and his team came up with practical suggestions and recommendations that addressed the situation and fit our budget. Overall, we are very pleased with the results.

Helio and his team did an exceptional job on our kitchen and bathroom renovation. From the very first consultation, it was clear that Helio was very knowledgeable and would be able to guide us through the process. He was able to start the project quickly and finish on time. I really appreciated that he had at least one, if not several, of his team on site everyday, unless they physically had to let something set or dry before they could move onto the next step. His team was also great about keeping the work area clean, and tidying each night. I also am really grateful for how conscientious Helio was of our budget. We had a very strict budget and he made sure we were able to stick to that. His price had no hidden fees, so we knew upfront what we would be paying. He also had great connections and recommendations for vendors, which made it easy to pick out finishes. It was easy to connect with Helio throughout the whole process, he was very responsive both via text and email. He was always very open and understanding if we had questions or concerns and really cared to make sure that all the details, even the tiniest final touch-ups, were done to our satisfaction. Our experience with Helio and HM Construction could not have been better. I will definitely work with them again in the future and I highly recommend them.

I have used 3 other contractors prior to H&M..... Helio and his team are by far the best. I wish I had made contact with Helio several years ago. Helio's tile guy is an artist - amazing workmanship. He also provided recommendations for the niche and shower border which ended up really working well. From his construction team to the finish team, everything went great. Helio is a pleasure to deal with. 9 out of 10 times he picks the phone up and that 10th time he called me back within 20 minutes. Helio always advised when and who would be at the house - everyone was prompt and on-time. Finally, the price he quoted was the final price...... no surprises. I had his team repaint another bathroom while they were in the house and the additional cost was very reasonable.

My experience with Helio and his staff was an excellent one. Helio is very attentive and takes time to explain every step of the project. I was impressed by how thorough he was during the process. All the work was done as outlined and promised to me. His staff was not only punctual but very professional, respectful and hard-working. Quality of work is top notch! I would definitely use HM Construction again.

Excellent. Each worker was expert in his area; tile plumbing electric painting and each area turned out beautifully. They started early and cleaned up before leaving. The owner was on site at least once a day and available by phone.

I purchased this general contractor for a week's services via AL. at the time of purchase I noted services wouldn't be needed until July. I called at the end of June to arrange service and was told by the owner, he didn't know why Angies List had that on there because he's busy and can't honor it. I'd have to call them to get a refund. He stated he's just being honest. I appreciate that I wasn't led on to promised work. But the owner should have seen some acknowledgment of a purchase and reached out to AL for them to correct it or to me. This is not going well, Angie's List!

Helio and his craftsmen were great to work with and did an excellent job.

Demo was fine - although they did bust a water pipe and drenched the plaster ceiling, and didn't tell me until I found out myself by turning the water back on (surprise!). I asked about asbestos potential and was told they test for that. Subject came up a week later and was told they don't do any testing. Got final job payment request, was told they would get it all done by that afternoon. Guy then took off about an hour later, and took a full week to return and "finish" up. About 400 pounds of concrete/plaster in small pieces was left behind in the bathroom for me to clean up later. Considering that I'd overpaid to begin with by being in a rush, wasn't impressed - shame on me for paying without the job being complete, but some good references and the high Angies List ratings made me think that wouldn't happen. Disappointing as I really hoped they would work out. His guys are very nice and were always pleasant to be around.

So in summary I got what I paid for and the work was good quality. I did not feel they wanted to work with me on a longer term basis and have found another contractor for the remaining work

Excellent. HM has been extremely prompt, responsive, courteous, and professional. The quality of their work is also excellent. Initially, the job was bid on by 3 contractors. HM's quote was the best, with no hidden charges. This has been a great experience. I highly recommend HM Construction.
