I have worked with HM Construction for several projects, but my recent kitchen remodel was the most challenging, since it involved removing walls and creating a whole new space. Helio and his crew did an amazing job transforming my '80s kitchen into a beautiful open concept area. I cannot say enough about the quality of his work crew. They were very skilled workers who were easy to work with and who respected my property, always leaving a clean work space. The cabinets, hardware, and counter tops are of top quality. Helio is a man of his word. He communicates regularly and always follows through. I highly recommend HM Construction for any type of new or renovation work.

I bought an Angie's List Big-Deal for $299 for 8 hours of general contracting work. I had a floor to ceiling built in cabinet about 48" wide that I wanted to have the top part taken off so that the lower cabinet and shelf would be all that is left. I wanted to salvage the crown moulding around the top because it had a couple of pieces that were custom cut and I didn't want to have the molding replaced all the way around the living room. Helio came and did a consultation and we discussed whether he would be able to get the cabinet to a point where it's ready to be sanded and painted by me within the 8 hour time frame. Since I was willing to do the finishing work the unit Helio said it should be able to be done within 8 hours (4 hours of 2 workers). At this time Helio was very friendly and very professional and made a good impression on me. I don't think he was over promising and was very realistic and open about the work that would be able to be done. Now as far as the actual work, I was not at home while the work was performed, my husband stayed home and approved the work that was done so I only saw the finished product at the end of the day. The crown molding looked ok the way that they had decided to put it together. One of the molding pieces that was not custom cut couldn't be salvaged so they went and bought a new full-length piece (at an additional cost for materials which was fine) and worked in the salvaged pieces and I think when I get done with a lot of caulking, patching, sanding and painting that it will look ok with the molding that is already in the living room. Not perfect, but good enough to justify not having all the molding completely replaced. However, there was a very noticable and very ugly piece of shoe molding that had been put on the top back of the cabinet to cover a gap between what is now the new top of the cabinet and the wall. The cabinet shelf had a curved edge and the molding was just jutting out beyond where the curve started and looked terrible and unfinished. No basic carpentry work had been done to try to properly fit the molding or to curve it to make it look at all finished or like it belonged there. And is already nailed down and it's impossible to fix without pulling it off completely and re-doing it. So, I called Helio to let him know that there was a problem, and he said that my husband had given his sign off on the work before they left, but that he would send someone to come fix it anyway, which was nice. So we scheduled another time for one of his crew to come by to see about the molding and try to fix it. When his crew person came I pointed out that the molding didn't fit and was hanging over the curved edge of the cabinet and looked unfinished and he said that he could cut it shorter so that it isn't hanging over. I asked if he would also curve the molding or put a nice edge on it so that it looks finished and he said no, that's impossible (I think it was impossible because he had no intention of pulling the molding off and starting over). So he used a multi-tool and cut off the overhanging pieces and left the edges at a 90 degree angle and it still looks quite bad - like something that doesn't belong there was just stuck on. I'm not sure if they are just rushing through the project because of the 8 hour Angie's list deal - of if they really didn't know how to do the carpentry part of it, but I sent pictures to a friend who does carpentry and he said that it is a basic thing to put a finishing edge on a piece of molding. I would have rather either not had something put on that was wrong, or have been given the option to pay for a little extra time for it to be done right. So after the second visit Helio texted me and asked me if I was happy and said if I wasn't that he would sent someone back again, but I just said that it was fine because neither my husband nor I can take any further time off of work to wait around for someone to come by a third time to try to fix this shoe molding on the back of this cabinet. I think I'm just going to pull it off and figure out how to fix it myself. So after two visits and $575 (original $299 deal + materials + debris removal) I still have a cabinet that isn't ready for me to sand and paint.

They came to my house to give me an estimate. I didn't agree with the over $4000.00 first estimate he gave me for the list of jobs that I had given. We narrowed my list down to what I had signed up for on Angie's List pricing. They told me that it would not include the materials. They scheduled a date to come back. I was checking my emails the night before their scheduled date and time; and I found an email from this company telling me that I needed to have the material for the list of projects, however, no more information was given than that. I emailed him right back and he responded to have azek trim and nails. I wasn't given the measurements that they took or anything else. I felt that this was not enough information and it left me with the intensions that they would provide me with the same incomplete job as much as the incompleted information provided. I no longer want to have their service provided for me. The D on responsiveness is due to the lack of communication with what I needed and the change in his availability to do the job.

Excellent Quality! Estimate of 20 man hours of work was accurate and fair. Helio's priority was our satisfaction with all work performed. Julio is a master carpenter. He not only 'repaired' our kitchen cabinet drawers, but he improved the system by leveling the bottom drawer (raising it a little bit). We will use HR CONSTRUCTION again.

Their work was accurate and thorough. Everything went smoothly. Everyone I worked with was incredibly helpful, reliable, always showed up on time, and they gave incredible workmanship. The outcome was fabulous!

The was a very well done job.I am very happy with the crew they are very official and then did everything in very quick ways around us in the house. I am very happy with the work we're definitely recommend in probably use the service again in the future!!!
