HM Construction & Painting

This was our first time using Angie's List and we are very happy with the results we got from HM Contruction Co. Helio is a good contractor who was easy to work with and was always on top of the job. Once the job began, the work continued at a good pace. The three crew members were punctual, professional, and took a lot of pride in their work. They truly care about providing a quality performance. They were also very respectful of our property and made sure the work site was clean. Debris was removed regularly. The new subway tile around the bath and the floor tile look great. Jose had good ideas as to how to make it look just right in our small bathroom. Carpentry work by Julio included adding the bead board and trim plus a new door frame. The new walls, ceiling, and paint job by Danielo complete the room. The three men worked well as a team. Helio stuck to his estimate, and the payment procedure throughout the job was very manageable. The only cost increases were due to my purchase of some items that were higher priced than the allowance in Helio's original advertised price. We would definitely use HM Construction again for other things that need to be done at our house.

Helios crew completely gutted our master bath. All new walls, shower (also added bench in shower), tile, flooring, fixtures, plumbing, electrical.etc.. They were prompt everyday, they were clean, respectful, courteous. We had them do some additional work when they were here. I would highly recommend them.

He came. Looked at job. Went to his van. 30 minutes later he came back with a very detail proposal with pricing and time line (this was great - no else did this). I agreed to the work and process. Did the work - on time and within the price we agreed to. Also during the job, we liked him so much that we gave another job which he did and got done on time.

Helio was very easy to work with. He gave us a fair price, kept in contact and communicated with us through out the job. He worked through the job quickly. There were some spots in the drywall I was unhappy with but he was happy to fix them right away.

I contacted him propmptly. Got bad vibes on the initial phone call. Said he did not renovations, repairs. Called back and scheduled to meet. He called ten min before appt saying he was going to be 45 min late. 2.5 hours later we finally got himafter several calls, and he said the GPS would not find our address. Which is not acceptable, as the home is simple to find. He gave no applogly for this, so we decided to get a refund and go elsewhere.

Helio, the owner, turned up the day after my call for an estimate. He started the job on time and my wife and I found he and his crew to be pleasant, honest and meticulous with everything they did. Clearly they care about what they do and making the customer happy. They remedied/inferior sloppy work that had been done by the previous owner. I found they quality of their work and professionalism to be excellent. My bathroom turned out to be beautiful and the replacement door and windows are excellent. We did have a bit of a time over run but that was because materials, as always, took a little longer than expected however that was not their fault but more the nature of any home project I think. I will definitely have them back for more work and I would absolutely recommend them to my friends and family. One of the best home improvement projects I have had.

They were very polite and courteous, but I had to cancel my deal. I had additional work that needed to be done and when they gave me the estimate, it was well over my budget.

Overall, our bathroom remodel project went well, and we are happy with the finished result. There were some problems along the way, but Helio definitely made sure that things got done correctly in the end. My biggest plus would be that they were very good about responding to my feedback and fixing things where I was not initially happy with the quality of the work. My biggest minus would be that the job went past schedule 2+ weeks during the holiday time period which was inconvenient for my family.

We were extremely happy with the efficient manner they worked in. They worked well within our time frame and did an amazing job! The main contractor Julio, was very understanding and got exactly what we were picturing. Overall we had a great experience with HM Construction and we would definitely recommend them.

My kitchen is too old, last year I start some renovation in my house, now i need renew my kitchen, my wife deserve that.

Helio is a very pleasant guy with a good competent crew. He was easy to work with and even took me to Home Depot to shop for the first bathroom. The guys who did the tiling, plumbing, electric, floors, etc. were all nice, reliable guys who worked hard and knew what they were doing. Helio had the idea to put a marble countertop in the first bathroom which looked so good that we put marble and granite in the other two. His prices were very good and I will use him again for future projects.

I thought that they were really good. They came when they said that they would, they quoted an accurate amount of time of work. They will be coming back for a couple other odd jobs for us.

After having met with a couple other general contractors recommended in our area on Angie's List we were not really ready to commit. Then we saw HM's ad. After checking out what other Angie's List clients had said about him, we decided to buy his initial discounted offer through Angie's List. He contacted us promptly and we set up a meeting. He checked out what we wanted to do, talked it over with us and drew up an extended contract that would take us through the project: taking out a wall, reworking base cabinets to become a breakfast bar, refinishing a ceiling and building/installing a new bookcase. The people who work for him did excellent work. They were always respectful of our time and our house, kept the work area contained and neat, and were very responsive to all our requests, such as adding a bookcase that we did not initially realize we wanted. The paint crew (two young men) did great work as did the electrician. We are very happy with the quality of the job they did, how they did it, and we definitely feel like we have made a valuable, reliable contact for future jobs.

Everything about this job was stress free and delivered as promised. Helio was very pleasant to work with, was up front and honest about all costs before starting the work, and I am very satisfied with the work that was completed. All workers were very professional and courteous. Their price beat all competitors quotes easily as well. I would recommend this company to anyone requiring exterior paint service.

Not as well as I expected because they tried to tell me that I need more work and will cost me $3,000 more and that was not the reason I purchased the package.

The whole project was completed on time in a neat and orderly manor. Quality of work was excellent, the crew came everyday and on time. They cleaned up every night before the left. All the debris was removed as promised.

Very good hands on and flexible scheduling. Outstanding workmanship. Work done over a period of 4 days.

We were really happy with Helio's work. Our little bathroom has a lot of challenges, and he helped us put it back together so it is usable. There were some minor delays, but that had nothing to do with Helio—rather, we special ordered some items and we had to wait for them to come in. Helio and his coworker Jose were polite and helpful, and very respectful of our property and time.

I cancelled the work before it even started, because I wasn't able to reach them right away. We had a communication problem at the beginning, but Helio tried to reach me several times after that to fix the problem.

Very professional in getting back to me, and taking the time to come to the house to review the projects. However, because of additional costs to complete the projects, the Big Deal would not have covered it.

Nice person to deal with, just that total estimate was way over my budget at this time.

When I called the provider he told me that he was no longer accepting business from Angie's List and that I should request a refund.

I can highly recommend Helio and his workers. He is extremely nice, very responsive, thorough, gets the job done quickly--everything you could ask for in a contractor. My daughter liked him as well--always good to know your kids aren't afraid of the people hammering in your house! The carpenter working for him was a very nice man and did a lot of varied projects for us, from fixing a garage door to sealing holes in our chimney, to fixing a gate and a leaning fence. We did have an issue with the painter, who was sanding lead paint, but I will say to Helio's credit he made the painter stay and clean up and complete the job until we were happy with it. He also told us he would never hire this painter again. So I felt like he was responsive to our concerns. All in all I can say Helio is a good guy and I would recommend him to you.

It went very well. The service was very professional, showed up on time, did everything that I asked, cleaned and even came back to paint around the windows where they caulked to make it look neater

The crew came on Monday morning and worked non stop until rain halted the job. They came back 2 days later after rain subsided and worked steadily until job was done. All rotten wood was removed and replaced. They replaced water damaged sliding glass door. When they were done, caulked around all windows and door. Touch up paint around new work. You can not tell that there was so much work done. It blends so well. When the crew left they loaded all old wood and doors and cleaned up. They were friendly and professional. I would definitely use them again for other remodeling work needed.
