The crew came with two large trucks early in the morning. One crew worked on to install tripolymer injection in between the walls for the entire house from outside and the other crew worked open and close cell foam in both basement and attic. They worked very efficiently and the crew leader Mike explained to me very clearly about the whole process before the work get started. Also the project manager John came by to make sure everything is working properly. They repaired any damage they made a couple days later. They did what they say they will do and I am very happy with them. We are having a third heat wave (90+ *F) in NY and I don't have to use AC as much as the year before. Now I am waiting to see how well the insulation will work for the winter. The crew did very nice job and they cleaned up at the end of the day very nicely. All of them were very polite and their professionalism showed. Overall I am very happy with them.
Description of Work: Installed tripolymer foam (white) for the whole house, sprayed close cell foam (light blue) for the basement rim joists and 2 inches of close cell foam underneath kitchen floor, sprayed open cell foam(off white) under the entire roof in attic

Mark came and took measurements and introduced me to closed vs. open cell foam and to provide a quote. Very down to earch guy and a reasonable price. His crew came over and did a nice job on the spray foam - they put it against the rafters, walls, knee walls and such. Overally pretty clean, but they did not do a great job of covering things, so they destroyed one HVAC grill and some plugs by not taping over it after I had asked them to. Decent job cleaning up...cannot complain as they put in more foam than I paid for at the end

Mark, came over and gave me an estimate for for attic insulation, garage ceiling insulation, and exterior wall insulation. After a long conversation and discussion we determined that the DIY method of completing these jobs was the best route for me to go given my budget. After coming to that conclusion, Mark then provided invaluable guidance and recommendations on how I should go about completing this insulation process myself. The direction he provided will definitively save me a lot of time, money, and effort. It was nice to see and have a vendor or service provider care more about pleasing a potential client and getting the job done right then making a quick buck.
Description of Work: Mark came over an gave me a very thorough estimate and analysis of what insulation efficiencies can be gained. He made some great recommendations on how to accomplish my goals and project. I truly appreciate the time, effort, and information Mark provided.

Justin arrived a little late, but did call ahead of time to let us know. Took approx 30-35 minutes looking around the areas where we would need insulation work. Seemed to be fairly knowledgeable and gave decent advice. Took time to review pricing information and options with me. Two glaring points which made us not pick them to perform the work: Quoted price: felt it was FAR too high for what would be provided. They have a MINIMUM of $1400 for the "main" job that would be performed. The remaining costs for other portions of the work were not terribly out of our ideas, but whenever I hear "minimum" it definitely raises a big RED FLAG for me. I know some contractors put out a minimum for a service call or charge for estimates, but a minimum charge to perform a job makes me feel like I'm being taken advantage of. Secondly, the work would require some mild "demolition" i.e. cutting into drywall, drilling holes in the ceiling or walls in order to pump in the insulation etc. After all the cutting, drilling and what not... the company does not repair after they are done! When he told me that hanging new drywall or patching was not included, I pretty much stopped listening. I cannot justify paying money for a professional service and then be expected to either finish the job myself or then have to call in another contractor. The contractor we selected gave a much clearer picture of our home as a whole. He gave varying options by level of "importance" in relation to our energy needs and their price was far more competitive for what we will be getting. In the end we will be paying approx 20% more than what we were quoted from Good life, however the job is three times as large.

I contacted Good Life Energy Savers for a quote. Mark arrived as scheduled, walked the house with me, showed me sample of their products, and gave me a good education regarding insulation products. He was very experienced and communicated very well. Mark spent 40 minutes or so measuring the house, examining the exterior, the attic, the existing insulation and made a set of recommendations (options) structured and ordered according to the best bang for the investment with regards to increasing the house insulation R value which could be best recouped in lower heating and cooling costs. In the end we agreed on 4 things in two sets - first the attic (open cell spray foam) and exterior walls on the main level (tripolymer foam). I would do this first. After having this done, I would see if I wanted to further do the exterior walls on the lower level and optionally the garage ceiling. The team showed up on the install date right on time. Mike and Steven and the crew first set up by laying plastic down to assure they would not make a mess. they worked all day and completed on schedule including a great cleanup job - you wouldn't have known they were there. After a week of living with the new insulation the family was really impressed. We decided to finish the scope of work I had reviewed with Mark and scheduled the lower level exterior, the garage ceiling, and also the vaulted ceiling in the family room. Again, the team arrived, did a great job including cleanup, and was very courteous. I enjoyed meeting them and am now enjoying their work in the form of a much warmer house.

The first installation was done in June of 2012 and by September 0f 2012 it was obviously not done properly. I called the company and they responded immediately .. They reemoved the old product and replaced it the next day with the the correct product at no addn'l cost to me.
Description of Work: THEY USED A SPRAY TYPE OF iNSULATION MATERIAL (FOAM) AND APPLIED IT IN JULY IN MY BASEMENT AT 3" TO 4" THICK PROMISING A VERY HIGH "R" FACTOR. I PUT THE BALANCE OF MY PROJECT ON HOLD UNTIL THE COLD WEATHER STARTED IN OCTOBER. MUCH TO MY SURPRISE THE PRODUCT THEY APPLIED WAS SHRINKING AND FALLING APART. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND INFORMED THEM OF MY PROBLEM. ONE OF THE PARTNERS IN THE CORPORATION ARRIVED THE NEXT DAY AND INSPECTED THE BASEMENT. HE APOLOGIZED PROFUSELY AND SAID THEY HAD NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFOR AND WOULD CORRECT IT IMMEDIATELY. HE CAME THE FOLLOWING DAY AND REMOVED ALL OF THE BAD FOAM AND THEN SENT HIS TEAM IN THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND THEY RESPRAYED THE ENTIRE SPACE AGAIN. THEY SEARCHED FOR THE REASON OF THE FAILURE AND ISOLATED THE CAUSE TO A BARREL OF MATERIAL THAT WAS FOR ANOTHER USE AND STORED IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THEIR FACILITY. I CAN ALREADY SEE A GREAT IMPROVEMENT IN THE TEMPERATURE IN THE BASEMENT AND AM PLEASED WITH THEIR QUICK RESPONSE AND REMEDIAL WORK. I WOULD DEFINATELY RECCOMEND THIS COMPANY FOR INSULATION WORK.

Good Life Energy Savers LLC installed tri-polymer foam in the walls of our house. The job was done thorough and accurately. All siding was returned back, the company did interior house inspection prior the insulation and after it, to make sure there is no damage. Prior the job they prepared and covered our door mats and bushes with plastic to avoid a mess. They also cleaned everything after their job was complete. We are very pleased and happy. Great Job.
Description of Work: Our house did not have any insulation in the walls and it was very drafty and it was also expensive to heat it. We did few estimates and I also did a research of different types of insulation and we decided on tripolymer foam. They pulled out some of the sidings and made wholes in there and then they blow the insulation. It is a foam, which does not expand, which is good for already existing houses, where you do not plan to do interior renovations and paintings. They give us estimate and after that we received Angies list coupon, which was honored and 10% was subtracted from the final price. They also guide us through the financial process: since we took a loan to complete the job.

John came out fairly quickly to do the estimate, but they were so busy we had to wait about 4 weeks for an appointment date. We walked through the house, talked, he went out to his car and came back about 15 minutes later with an estimate for me. It was much cheaper than an estimate I had done through Innovative air solutions, so we booked them. On the scheduled day, the guys showed up an hour late. Apparently because they have a commercial truck they can't take parkways. While I understand that, they should have provided the workers with directions that accurately reflected the travel time and route for non parkway vehicles. That being said, Steven and Mark, were very professional, courteous, friendly and did a great job. They came in, figured out what they needed to do and got to work. In the estimate, John had said they would need to dense pack the walls through one of my kid's bedrooms, which would have made more of a mess, but when Steven and mark were here they managed to do it all from the attic, which I greatly appreciated. My two kids, 6 months and 3 years, had to take naps and they were respectful of that and minimized noise when they could. When they left, they did a really great job with the clean up. My 3 yr old got a kick out of the vacuum, backpack! There was so trouble with the hose clogging for the dense pack, so the job took longer than expected, so it couldn't be completed in one day. Two guys, Mark and Peter, were able to come on Saturday to finish the job. Again, because of highway stuff they arrived an hour later than scheduled. However, they were able to come the job quickly, and again did a really good clean up job.
Description of Work: Although the end result is better energy efficiency, our goal was to reduce sound in our home. We have a high/raised ranch house and two small children. The noise traveled between their walls and down the hall from the living area as though there were no walls. We looked at reducing noise in various ways and one method is to fill the walls with insulation. A different company came to do a full energy audit, which gave us an idea of cost, but Good Life gave us a cheaper estimate, so we went with them. They filled two walls with dense pack cellulose, one between the bedrooms and one between a bedroom and the hall. They also put sealed boxes over the recessed lights (26 of them) and some type of air sealing in the attic. They did a 12" cellulose fill over the whole attic, oh, actually we have cathedral ceilings in the living room, so there was dense pack over that area too. And finally they built a foam box/cover thing to prevent the air leaks faround the attic stairs, which are a pull down from the ceiling in e hallway.

I have an exceptionally old house - 1777 - so I thought this was going to be problem. Good Life removed all the old insulation, took away the debris, re-insulated the problem areas with high density spray foam and it was all done in about a day and a half. My first floor has never been so warm :) All aspects of working with this company were great and I would work with them again in a flash! Great experience overall and the results have been fantastic!
Description of Work: I needed to have the area under my dining room and kitchen re-insulated. The old fiberglass material has been coming down and had been thoroughly messed about by animals over the years as well. The old insulation was not providing any real warmth any longer and I needed to address that. I had read up on Good Life Energy Savers on Angie's List and was very impressed so I had them come and give me a quote. I liked what they proposed so we set a date and the work commenced first week in November.

We were remodeling our sunroom and there was no insulation in the ceiling or walls. Our home is 110 years old. We called a few companies for an estimate and chose Mark Harris and Good Life. Mark was very professional and did not try to sell me things I did not need. He inspected our sunroom and offered some potential solutions. I selected blown in cellulose above the ceiling and spray foam on the walls and eaves. While he was here he inspected our attic and basement and suggested we insulate the attic. Considering that we were going to get a $0.50/sq foot rebate from the State of CT for making our home more efficient, we decided to do an additional 500 sq feet of blown in cellulose in the attic as well. I flet the price they offered for the work was competitive and reasonable and Mark Harris was polite and professional. A crew of about 6 guys arrived on time, were professional throughout, and cleaned up within about 4 hours. Mark Harris came at the beginning to insure the crew had no questions or issues due to the unique nature of our older home. Everything went smoothly. I would recommend this company to anyone needing insulation.
Description of Work: 280 square feet of blown in cellulose insulation in the space between the old porch roof and the new roof. Plus190 square feet of closed cell spray foam insulation on the walls of the sunroom.Plus 500 square feet of blown in cellulose in the attic.

They determined all the areas that I was losing energy. They made quite a number of recommendations. They also blocked a few holes on their own while they were here. From their suggestions I have hired a company to put some insulation in for me. I was able to do it with a 3 year loan at 0%. They put in the insulation and it was wonderful. It alone will save me plenty as far as heating the house. Downstairs, they recommended having the holes blocked in the foundation. I know that will make a big difference this winter. They also had talked about changing my refrigerator to one that is more energy efficient. I was able to get a rebate on both the things I had done. This all came through for the fact that I applied to have solar panels. Solar City sent the company to me free of charge. I now have the panels up and I am waiting for my final inspection. I know I spent a little money but it was well worth it and I am planning for the future.
