Response from CertaPro Painters® of Danbury & Ridgefield CT
The client begins her review by saying, “The devil is in the details” This is exactly why our quotes are so detailed. We explain in detail what is included in the scope of the project so that the client is fully aware of the details and so that there are no surprises. In our proposals we note the level of preparation work we will perform in order to be clear about what is expected on the project. In this case, the customer’s home had had popcorn ceilings that had been removed improperly by a previous contractor, not by CertaPro. We sent our very best painter to complete this project and he worked with the client to address all of her concerns, some of which he was unable to rectify due to the existing condition of the ceiling. This customer’s idea of preparation work went way beyond the standard prep work which was clearly noted on the proposal. This was not in the fine print, as referred to by the client, but noted in the body of the proposal in the same size font as the rest of the proposal. The proposal also clearly excluded “skim coating”, (a process by which the entire surface is coated with a layer of compound to smooth out all imperfections) which the customer expected as part of the work. CertaPro gave the client value far beyond the $1,200 quoted price for this project but we were still not able to achieve the level of perfection she expected based on her budget. We value each of our clients and are disappointed that this client does not see the value of the work she received. I am the owner of this CertaPro office and the customer never requested to speak to me. To say that I had no interest in speaking with her is just wrong. I am always available to speak with our clients and want them to be happy with the results of the projects we complete for them.
