From the initial phone call for an estimate, to the end of the completed job very professional, punctual, expert quality workmanship and a pleasure to deal with such an honest business man. I wasn't sure what state my chimney was in and could have easily been taken advantage of, but was given expert advice at a very reasonable price. Everything was left cleaner then they found it as well. We are extremely happy and would recommend Riteway Chimney to everyone. A pleasure to do business with.
Description of Work: Install stainless steel double flue rain cap and remove and replaced more than a dozen broken bricks, relay new cement crown (cracked) applied water repellant to prevent further cracking.

 + -1 moreDan came out to take a look at the chimney of a house I recently purchased. Another chimney cleaning company told me I needed a new liner. Dan gave me his honest opinion--my previous liner had a few cracks but he didn't really think I needed a new one...I was impressed that he wasn't trying to sell me something I did not need. However, I later showed him a few holes in the interior portion of the chimney and we decided to go ahead with the liner. He quoted me a price that was half of another quote I got. We scheduled the job and he showed up on time and did clean and professional work. He even stuck around to chat and showed me some tips on my pellet stove. I highly recommend Dan, Linda + company.

 + 0 moreFor both visits, we were provided a date and a two hour window when the provider would arrive. For the first visit, they arrived when expected. I was very satisfied with the job they did, so I hired them to do some repair work on my chimney. Again I was given a date, and a two hour window of time when they expected to arrive. I received a call from them explaining that they were running a bit late. They arrived within thirty minutes of the expected window. I was very satisfied with the work that was done, and found their prices to be reasonable. I do not normally hire contractors to work on my home, but this is one provider that I can highly recommend and expect to hire for future service to my chimney.
Description of Work: This provider came to our house twice this spring. The first visit was to clean the chimney, the second visit was to repair the mortar and install a new chimney cap.

 + 1 moreThings went smoothly. One man cleaned out debris from the base of my furnace flue and the other...Dan?.... installed the stainless steel liner which he guided through the older clay flue. Because my chimney was a bit higher than the 25 feet we thought, he skillfully added more piping to make a fit. A complimentary furnace flue cap was included. Both men were courteous and answered all questions patiently.

Description of Work: On September 24, 2015, I called Riteway Chimney in Colchester, Connecticut, to get a price on an installation of a flue liner, cap and hook up my fire place insert. I was told that the next available date for an inspection was mid October and installation would be set up for mid November, so I made the appointment. |Because of the fixed size of the flue (six inches) and the height of the chimney (a little less that twenty five feet) I was told the install would be $1350.00, (or, $1450.00 if the chimney was thirty feet tall.) and the price included a chimney inspection, 25' of DOUBLE WALL flue liner, any needed "tees", collars, hardware and a stainless steel chimney cap. (Having done a lot of research I found that was a very good price for those kinds of materials and that much work.) |After I set up an appointment for mid October, I received a call a week later saying Dan and his helper Louie had a cancelation on Thursday the first of October and I was asked if they could do the installation then. I agreed and Dan arrived right on time. They looked at my fire place insert and chimney then said they had everything they needed and went right to work. |Three hours later, Dan said they were finished and everything was all set. The insert was back in place, the work area had no signs of dust of dirt and everything in the living room was back in place. |Even though I heard Louie cutting the damper opening to accommodate the flue liner and they were both moving the insert around to connect the flue liner, I received the bill and it was, as promised, $1350.00! |There were no surprises (except pleasant ones) the quality of the materials where far better than anything I had seen or priced elsewhere from anybody... and the workmanship, along with Dan's professionalism, was outstanding! |When asked if I would recommend Dan and Riteway Chimney to anyone else, I would say, emphatically, don't waste your time calling around to make appointments and wait for inspections or returned phone calls... for all your fireplace needs, just call Dan at Riteway Chimney and know you have the best price on the best work that is available!

 + 2 moreDan at Riteway Chimney has been my chimney guy since he installed the Jotul C550 I purchased at Preston Trading Post in November 2009. The original install included 30 feet of smooth-wall chimney liner and a three flue cap. He also applied a brick sealant, water repellant to the entire chimney. The entire install price was $1600. He has been back once a year to clean and inspect the chimney at a cost of around $150 a year. Dan and his partner are very professional and skilled at their jobs. You can really tell they have been working together for many years. I would highly recommend Riteway Chimney for any and all chimney/ fireplace work.

 + -1 moreDan and Louie did an excellent job. The first job of the day made them run behind, but I was notified well in advance so I had the opportunity to get things done. An inspection of my wood stove showed that my handle was loose and, when they tried to tighten it, they found that it was stripped so I have to replace it. Dan gave me the name of a vendor, told me what to order, and offered to come back at no charge to put it on if I had difficulty doing the job myself.

They took the time introduce themselves and to confirm the work that I wanted completed. After putting down a drop cloth, one began working on the wood stove while the other performed the chimney cleaning. I had asked to have the stove pipe ring fixed (it was too large) and ended up with one custom-fit at no extra charge. The work was completed in less than an hour. Both men were friendly yet very professional. I would highly recommend this company.
