I have used them for years and years. I've known the Mr. Bowman since 1966 and used them for plumbing and electricity. His children took over the business and I continue to use them for electricity.
Description of Work: I used them about a year and a half ago to help get the house in order to sell. They had to repair an attic fan.

My first call to White-Bowman was a few years ago, when they fixed some leak issues on some minor things, including a shower head replacement. They were very helpful, so I called them for some more major issues. My first impression was excellent. The OWNER picked up the phone at the office. He said he would be over in the morning to review the issues. A slightly "gruff" man, he provided a detailed quote regarding a water heater replacement and a new toilet. I had requested a quote on a new furnace, but he said it would only need a new part and some service to last another several years. I was impressed by his honesty. They completed the work within a few days and as I sit here today, I have quick hot water and a great new toilet to match the new sink I added, completing my bathroom renovation. To my surprise, the bill was very reasonable, especially given the high-end sink and water heater I purchased. Chris was a great person to deal with and I highly recommend his company.

Description of Work: The plumber arrived, made some minor adjustments and when I asked why there was loud banging coming from my toilet each time water was flushed he told me it was normal and not to worry about it. He adjusted another toilet where the tank was consistently overflowing. That problem was solved. I wasn't satisfied with the answer I was given about my other bathroom. I called White Bowman....3 times....asking to speak with someone because I wasn't satisfied with the answer that loud banging every time I flush a toilet is normal. I was promised each time I called that someone would call me back. Or that my file had been pulled and the owner was reviewing it and would call me back. Or that I was on the owner's schedule to call back. Never heard from anyone. I paid the bill with a note attached again expressing my dissatisfaction....still never heard from them. That level of service (or lack of) coupled with the condescending attitude ("don't worry about it") is simply unacceptable. I would never recommend them to anyone.

I went with a local business hoping that would automatically provide me with a more personalized service experience so that I would have a plumbing service I could call my own for all future needs. What I got was just the opposite and I may as well have been using one of the national chain plumbing services. No call backs to ask about my experience with their company or any type of follow up that makes the customer, at least superficially, feel cared about. 1) Installation of a new faucet was satisfactory. 2) The assessment of the damp spot turned out to be completely wrong. Fortunately and amazingly I figured this out on my own prior to taking any action. I can't hammer a nail straight. 3) Told me there was very significant build up of calcification due to lack of flushing (I always flush) that could not be removed and that I needed a new toilet. Interestingly, he put the toilet back together prior to showing me this! I have no idea how old toilet is and I've been in the house for 4 yrs and the house was built in 1940, so sounded believable. Told me to purchase a new toilet and then call his company back for installation. Again, I think very poor service: no offer to purchase, deliver and install a new toilet, no offer of "special" pricing one might expect after an assessment of problem with nothing to "show" for it, etc.
Description of Work: 1) Installed a new kitchen faucet. 2) Assessed the reason for toilet chronically backing up. 3) Assessed the cause of a damp spot on living room ceiling that has a bathroom directly above it.

They told me that they had to charge me extra because it was a special order. They told me that it took them an hour to change the kitchen faucet. I was there when they did it. They billed me for an hour on labor when it took them only 40 minutes. I protested but they said there was nothing they could do. They still continue to charge me for a special ordering faucet, which is in stock at another provider. I do not do business with such people and I would not recommend them to anybody.
