These guys are incredible! I had them in put in a new floor in my kitchen, the work was very professionally done, and they made every accommodation they could to make sure we still had access to everything we needed. As I'm a stay at home dad, and disabled to boot they were more than ready to help me move the furniture exactly where I needed it so I could still take care of my toddler throughout the process. I definitely felt involved with the process. More than once I was brought in to show the steps and make decisions as to lay oft he tiles, grouting and the like. My house was built in 1965, and remodels are coming up everywhere, and I. Know that my money is going right to these guys for each and every project. I can't recommend them enough. Thanks guys!

They did the job as fast as the joint compound would dry. In one of the upstairs rooms, the ceiling had a lot of sagging going on. They did an excellent job of leveling it out.

I am an old hand at having projects done and I have to say that John - and his coworkers Anthony and Nate- exceeded expectations on every single front. John responded to my inquiry and came to estimate on the date and time promised. He was able to accommodate the unusual location of our beach cottage (on an island, no electricity). He gave me a good and fair estimate then was flexible with me when I asked him to scale back the work a bit. He was honest and forthright with all work, estimates and prices. He came to do the job exactly when he said he would and he, Anthony and Nate were beyond polite and professional. The "piece de resistance"? He painted the window, siding and trim - thoroughly cleaned up after the job was done - and FINISHED the job exactly when he said he would. NO loose ends after he left Truly a pleasure to do business with. I would absolutely call him again if needed. Highly highly recommend.
Description of Work: Repaired leak in roof, removed an old skylight and repaired roof. Replaced window, replaced and repaired siding.

I am in need of some roof repairs and new siding for my home. I searched Angie's list for a contractor to give me an estimate for the work required. I called and left a message explaining that I needed an estimate for roof work and siding. After a week I had not received a return call, so I called and left another message. After a few more days I received a call and we set up a date for him to visit my home. Unfortunately, he did not call or show up. I assume that he is a small operation and very busy - we both lost on this transaction.

John Sigel came to see the job and get our ideas of what we wanted done. He also gave us suggestions we hadn't thought of, which worked out perfectly. Their estimate was right in line with others we received. We found out that someone we knew had used the Sigel Brothers in the past. We called him, and he was very pleased with their work, and highly recommended them. We have to agree! They did an excellent job. Anthony was on site every day. He and his guys were always professional, punctual and did not leave until their workspace was clean. For all the work we had done, there was virtually no mess. When their floor guy cancelled out a couple days before the scheduled time, they found another to do the work on the days they had promised us. The floors came out better than we even expected. They started and ended the job when they promised, and that was even with us adding a few little things in there from time to time. We are thrilled with the job they did. Their work ethic and performance were excellent. We have already recommended John and Anthony to friends. Not only do we recommend them, but we will be using them for a bathroom renovation in the near future.
Description of Work: They removed a wall dividing the living room and dining room. Then replaced it with a half wall, installing a built-in double sided fireplace. They sheet rocked walls and ceiling in living room, and down the hallway. They installed crown molding in both rooms and down hallway. They also replaced two exterior doors, two storm doors, and five interior doors. The hardwood floors in the living room and down the hallway were sanded and finished.

Working with Sigel Brothers?in our case, specifically Anthony Sigel?was far and away the best remodeling experience my wife and I have ever had. We held high hopes for Anthony's work, as we had already seen the stunning (and far more extensive) remodeling job he had done at the home of my sister-in-law and her husband. We weren't disappointed. From his first visit to the house, Anthony showed himself exactly the kind of building contractor one hopes for. He gave us as much time as we needed, letting us describe what we knew we wanted, discuss possibilities about which we were undecided, and ask (many!) questions. He listened very closely throughout, patiently answered even our most ill-informed questions, and then suggested alternative solutions to our problems, explaining carefully the benefits and costs (not just dollar costs) of different options. It was great to work with someone who took our inchoate ideas seriously even while providing us with the benefit of his professional judgment. Although our project was smaller in scale than some others, he gave it equally full attention. When we agreed on a proposal, Anthony told me he hoped to have all the work done by the end of June?a tight deadline that we very much hoped he could achieve, but privately doubted, knowing how building and remodeling projects rarely proceed on schedule. Well, he missed by only one day, finishing everything (except the outdoor stairs we requested later) on the first of July! (The delay was due to circumstances beyond his control.) We were away for much of the earliest work of demolition and rebuilding of the basic framework of the room, but Anthony took pains to keep us posted on how the project was proceeding, emailing photos of the work-in-progress.. It proved a more substantial effort than expected, since rotting wood discovered in the old structure meant dismantling the room to its barest bones. But in our absence Anthony put in extra hours to respond to the problems he discovered. He did not simply coordinate others' work; he was the prime craftsman himself. Neighbors later told us how they saw Anthony at work before they left for the office and still at work well after they returned at the end of the day; one reported with amazement that the room was down to a roof with a few supporting sticks as he left for his workday one morning and then fully closed in when he returned at dinnertime.) Hard work, of course, must be joined to skill -- and Anthony and his guys had plenty of it. They produced very polished, handsome work--window installation, sheet rock and electrical, hanging new doors, installing new flooring, painting and more. We got exactly what we wanted. The total cost at the end of the process was virtually identical with the estimate at the start, differing only due to changes we chose to make during the course of the project. Committed to getting the job done well, imaginative in solving problems, and a wonderful, straightforward guy to boot, Anthony earned our deepest respect. We expect to use Sigel Brothers Construction for further work on another project next spring, and we enthusiastically recommend them to anybody thinking about home remodeling work. From start to finish, a great job!
Description of Work: Converted sunporch that was only usable in the summer (and that turned out to have rotting walls) into a year-round room with 6 new windows, new floor, new electrical fixtures and outlets, new outer door, and added complete insulation (including in ceiling and beneath new flooring--above concrete slab) added closets to the space by expanding into a small portion of the garage, installed a new windowed door between porch and kitchen, did plumbing preparation for a future bathroom upstairs, and built a substantial outdoor landing and stairs to the side yard.

The quotes from other places were ridiculous. I got a good quote for SIGEL BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION LLC. Currently, he is waiting for me to go out and buy the things that I need, tub and faucet.
Description of Work: I did have one person from SIGEL BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION LLC come and have a look at the work that needs to be done to replace my tub and give me a quote. As part of this tub and the tiles need to be taken off. The tub and the faucet need to be replaced and the tiles need to be put back. The point is to be able to get the tiles off without breaking any of them.

Everything went very well. I'm glad I had the opportunity to have work done by Sigel Brothers, and I would definitely use them again for any future projects that arise.
Description of Work: This was a "Roof Maintenance Package" offered as a "Big Deal". My roof is not that old, but after the storms over the last couple years, I had some doubts and a few minor issues, so I jumped at the chance to have some of my concerns addressed by a professional. John showed up on time and was very professional. They performed the service with skill and efficiency. They inspected the roof, and paid attention to my concerns. There were several spots where the shingles had deteriorated due to, let's say. 'overzealous' ice dam removal. They replaced those for me, and checked out all the rest of the roof. The repaired some flashing and replaced the boots around the vents.

John Sigel, the owner, was prompt, pleasant, and professional throughout the process. After about 20 minutes on the job, John reported that there was nothing wrong with the roof and did some caulking in a few places. He noted that the chimney needed repointing, a service not provided by the company. It's not John's fault that the roof is in good shape and that there wasn't much to do; however, I feel that having spent $149., perhaps a rebate might have been in order. I don't feel that I got my money's worth.

We had a fire and Sigel Brothers boarded up the property for literally 1/3 of what everyone else wanted to do it for. Everyone else kept saying, "what do you care? you insurance pays for it!" i found that to be a dishonest approach. It went well. they were there from 6 pm until 2am securing the property and came back the next few days to patch up the roof and prevent water damage. Then they had to come back a few months later during winter to fix some frozen water damage to the roof. all went well and for a reasonable price even though my insurance is paying.

Our project is an addition and remodel of the kitchen and part of the basement of a house built in 1860. This included an entry way and sitting room at the ground level, a new bathroom and finishing of part of the existing basement, an extension of the kitchen with the addition of a new stairway from the ground level to the kitchen. Part of the deck was covered to make a screened in porch. We are about halfway through the project. We could not be happier with the Sigel Brothers - John and Anthony. They are very competent and incredibly easy to work with, excellent in communicating AND listening to us. They are creative, talented and very much "can do". My husband is very particular about workmanship and we are both ones to research products and materials as well as "old house issues". There work certainly "measures up" to our highest expectations. We have found both Anthony and John to be knowledgeable and thorough in their work. Their attention to detail in their work but also in how the project impacts us is noteworthy. We have liked their selection and oversight of subcontractors who have also been easy to have around. We are more than pleased with how the project is progressing and how comfortable we are amidst all that a project like this entails. I find myself frequently saying to them "This is really beautiful!" and my husband frequently saying "they really did a nice job on this.. as each day ends and we look at the progress. We would give the Sigel Brothers our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: We had an 2 level addition put on the house with an entry, new stairs to the main floor, refinish part of existing basement adding a bathroom and extend and remodel kitchen. A part of the deck was covered to create a screened in porch.

I got John Sigel's name off of Craigs list and I had never met him before. I was hesitant using someone without a personal referral but I could not have been more grateful to find him and his crew. He is a problem solver. He thinks critically and his skills are on par with any challenge he might face. He was courteous and conscientious and very fastidious. I was thrilled to find him and will not hesitate to use him again for future clients...It was nothing but a pleasure!
Description of Work: I am an interior designer and my client requested that we redo the main floor of her house. I suggested taking down a few walls, changing windows and designing a center island for her as well as redoing her fireplaces. This also entailed patching floors and clapboard on the exterior.

I was very pleased with the work that was done from start to finish. The work (by choice) was done over a years span and everything has been exceptional. They workers are very down to earth and reliable...a nice change from the normal contractors you may find out there. Their attention to detail is the main reason we continually call them back when we need work done to our property. I heard about them by word of mouth and now will spread that word myself as we were very pleased with the whole experience.
Description of Work: Replaced all 25 year old windows and doors including double side light entrance door. Tore roof down to wood, cut ridge vents and replaced with brand new shingles. I wish I could give them a B+ officially but Angie's List doesn't provide that option above. Here is my story.....They came out mid Nov. 2011 to do take measurements and work up an estimate. They explained that they used Harvey vinyl windows that would match the existing windows in the house. John called back within a day or two with a price of $1300 for 3 windows and installation including whatever repairs were necessary for one particular window that had rain damage. After speaking with my husband I called back within an hour with my okay to go ahead on the work and asked if they needed a deposit. John indicated no deposit was necessary and they would go ahead and order the windows and they would call when they came in. They expected delivery in 2-3 weeks. (Yay! this would be before my son got home from college.) I called them after Thanksgiving expecting that we could schedule the installation. John said he'd get back to me - at that time he discovered there had been a miscommunication between him and his brother and that neither had actually ordered the windows. Although I was disappointed, they seemed genuinely sorry and I asked them to see if they could get a rush on the delivery and go ahead and put the order in. They came back out and remeasured the window and placed the order. The windows came in the week of Christmas, due to our schedule we were unable to make the appointment to get them installed until after Christmas. The day they came to install they were about an hour late but got right to work. They carefully brought in the new windows, explained their features and how to use them. Removed the old windows, with minimal amout of fuss and noise put in the new windows and cleaned up. Removing the old windows from the property when they left. The only way you knew someone had been there was that my son's room was warmer - no more drafty windows!!! They mailed me the final invoice which was $100 less than the estimate due to the delay. I would definitely use them again. Except for the delay it was a great experience and the new windows are great!. THEY ARE NOT WINDOW SALESMEN. There was no pressure to replace all the windows in the house. They did what we needed to get done for a reasonable price for high quality product and labor. We have a lot more windows to replace and its a relief to know we can get them done little by little rather than committing to doing them all at once. I'd definitely use them again.
Description of Work: They replaced 3 windows in my son's very drafty bedroom.

This past June, 2011, we hired Sigel Brothers Construction to put up siding and make a number of renovations on our home. John or his brother were always around to be sure that the job was being done properly and in an efficient manner. His attention to detail was apparent since nothing was stamped as finished unless he gave it his approval. The ideas/design for updating the front of the house worked out wonderfully and we are very happy with the results. Thanks for the great work. We look forward to doing business with Sigel Brothers Construction in the near future.
Description of Work: Installed siding and exterior renovations to home.
