+ 0 moreWonderfully!! They were punctual, hard-working, careful, skilled and very smart. I say they were smart because they realized that we would be crammed in half of the house with all of our furniture while the floors in the other half of the house were refinished. They actually suggested and set up a small space in the half of the house where we'd be living that was quite functional. They didn't just move furniture; they thought about how to best do it to fit everything in half the space and still be able to, for example, open the refrigerator. We choose them for the good price and their availability on two consecutive weekends.
Description of Work: Moving furniture from one side of the house to the other two times so the floors could be refinished.

+ -1 moreFive strong gentlemen arrived promptly at the planned time, were courteous and professional throughout the day, and very careful with our stuff (nothing was damaged). We were very pleased. The only issue was that the final amount was around $1000 more than the estimate (that had been provided after someone looked over our apartment), which was surprising to me given that we had sold significant amounts of furniture (thereby creating *less* stuff needing to be moved) in between the estimate and actual move. The job took several hours longer than anticipated and I'm not sure why this was the case but I still do not regret going with them as they worked very hard and did a great job.
Description of Work: Moving from a 2nd floor 3BR apartment to a 3-story house (4 including the basement).

+ 0 moreFirst, we received a detailed and *binding* estimate from Tom Mulrooney. He spent quite a while here and answered all my questions definitively. Any questions we had subsequently were immediately dealt with. The move went without a hitch. The movers were very respectful of our belongings and both homes. Nothing was damaged at all and all items (over 200) were accounted for at the end. These guys work hard! Over 6 hours at the load out and 5 hours unloading - they never took a break, even for lunch in weather that was hot and humid. This is not the least expensive company we received an estimate from, but I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and after reading all the horror stories on various on-line sites (including this one) we went Ace. It was the right decision.

We were really impressed and would highly recommend them to anyone else who is looking for a moving company.

+ -1 moreIt went more or less ok on the day they moved us out. On the move-in day to the new house, most of the crew were different and they moved slow and weren't as great as the initial crew. Hence the B. Owner was great - we had a delay and he held our stuff another night and figured out movers for the next day.

After all was said and done they got the job finished sooner than expected and charged me much less than the original quote. I'm very happy with their services and would definitely choose them again. Hopefully I won't be moving any time soon though :)

+ -1 moreTom was great- he gave me an accurate estimate after arriving on time. He gave me info to do my own packing. I did use the 200.00 worth of supplies for 100.00. He helped me pick out which boxes I would need and loaded up my car for me. People were available to answer questions as the move got closer. On moving day they arrived on time and were careful with everything. Only 1 glass was damaged but that was because it was put in the box crosswise by a friend instead of upright. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone back in CT!

I put in a request to get a refund, what happened is, they said that if they were to cross day clients to pick up the furniture which I wanted, it would cost three times as much, and then I had two other companies, they never called me back. The price was nothing like what you gave me. It had no connection with your price at all. They were polite thats all I know.
Description of Work: The last time of contact with them was two days ago. I purchased a big deal for $309 and they told me it would tripple that, over $1000. I didn't use them.

They are, prompt, reliable, friendly and enormously flexible They go above and beyond in their efforts to be helpful. Despite the fact that we moved on a day that was 90 degrees and our apartment is on the second floor there was not even a hint of complaint. They were consistently pleasant and helpful. I highly commend these movers for a job very well done!
Description of Work: The mover moved us into storage in June and then into our new home in July.

Description of Work: I gave a tour before starting. Everything was tagged with colorful Post-Its. I checked on their progress several times and it seemed like it was going well and I was frequently assured that all was well, they had it under control. This was a senior move with limited pieces to handle. It seemed like it was OK until I noticed that some items were not moved, e.g.,the microwaved was all packed and found the turn table the next day at my former residence and larger items never arrived as I found out the next day when I walked in to clean the condo and recognized at least several sizable pieces were totally left behind. (For me to subsequently move them in my car)???? The biggest and most annoying mistake was losing all the brass screws and fittings for my brass bed. I had let it go so I could polish the overall bed and I guess that led them to again(!) forget and not paying attention to detail. I generally trust professionals to do their work without hounding them. I hate being on their heels. We had ended up on excellent terms until further checking proved me wrong.

Description of Work: They were able to help my wife pack and protected fragile items for the move. They were prompt and very personable. My move was from Connecticut to Florida. The furniture was delivered on time, as advertised. And even though they had a two flight walk up , they never complained. They even helped me unwrap some items and removed the cardboard. I was very satisfied and will use them again in the future.

In addition we were given a prompt payment adjustment in our favor when actual load weight was smaller than the initial estimate. If you are looking for a mover in the central Ct area you can rely on Ace.

+ -1 moreACE was great - Mike and Bill were our two movers, and they displayed incredible patience as we assisted my aging parents in their first downsize move. We booked them for four hours and kept them nine, and they never complained, even when we had them move two treadmills at the end of the day! I thought my dad had booked movers, but when I spoke to him the day before the move, he explained that he'd hired two guys he knew and a couple of pick up trucks and planned to do the move over 4 days! Heck, no! I called around, and with one day's notice ACE stepped up to the plate (I do think I paid a little more per hour due to the short notice, but --- what are you going to do?) The office was quick and responsive, the guys were wonderful and patient. What more can I say but a big thank you to them for their incredible assistance on a tough weekend!

We were so pleased with their efficiency, great attitude, being careful with our items and double-checking with us which items to move and where to place them at our final destination. These men exuded integrity and a strong work ethic -- mixed with humor and affability. Sadly, two of the men cut themselves during the moving process, but they patched themselves up and forged ahead. Bless them. Lovely people! Prior to the move, we picked up 3 used wardrobe boxes -- which were given to us at no extra cost. The sales representative, who we called for an estimate prior to the move, was prompt and sized up our needs quickly and he provided us with a reasonable price. We would highly recommend Ace Van & Storage.

+ -1 moreWe stumbled upon Ace movers when we were looking for a firm to move portions of our household in the northwest corner of CT to a second home just outside New Haven. Boy, were we lucky to have found them! Ace's estimate of costs for the move was the lowest of any of the (many) movers we contacted -- and then, when the actual move was complete, even though we added a few significant items, the final cost was fully 15% less than their written estimate! None of this would have been worth it if the movers hadn't been timely and competent, but Pat and Mike were that and more. They arrived right in the time window we had been led to expect. They went out of their way to be helpful, taking care to protect our pieces and showing real concern that we were satisfied with their placement of furniture in our new house. On the basis of our experience, I would recommend Ace to anybody. On every count -- cost, punctuality, skill and good humor -- the guys from Ace made this the best moving experience we have ever had.
