One month later, we had no visit and no communications. I wrote Jeremy again on Feb 23 and he called to say he was sorry and the expert would be over right away. After another month, on March 28, with no expert and no communications at all, I wrote Jeremy to tell him to forget it. But I've lost two months.

 + -1 moreWhen I first interviewed him he talked so much and gave speech for an hour about how great he was. He was one of the few electricians who returned my phone call He worked one day and charged about 3600 for the day, another electrician informed me that he may have put in used equipment but charged for new equipment. He justified it by saying that everyone else would have taken days to do this. He only showed up for a half day after that and charged an additional $800. Initially, he said he was doing the job himself, but apparently he had someone else doing the job with him and was going to charge for that as well.. The new electrician came and said, he does not know how the work passed inspection. The circuit breakers have been dripping and apparently he wired the lights in the basement, first, and second floors through the same breaker.
Description of Work: I hired him for a service upgrade for our historic home. His job was to rewire the house and remove as much knob and tube as possible.

Description of Work: We have used this company several times, from wiring 3 ceiling fans, to fixing wiring problems to outdoor lighting problems. They have always done an excellent, personal, professional job, taking care to listen to our concerns. Everything was cleaned up perfectly and done to perfection. I highly recommend them and would definitely use for any electrical needs.

 + -1 moreI am sorely disappointed that a company so highly rated would ignore a request from a potential customer. We both e-mailed and called the company in mid-July requesting a quote. All we got back was an automated 'we'll get back to you soon' response. Several weeks later that was followed by a "thank you for your patience we'll get back to you soon" e-mail. Again we did not hear back from them. We e-mailed them again (and got another automated response). By the time we finally heard back from them saying that they could come and look at the job, it was the end of August we had hired someone else. The least they could have done was either called or e-mailed and said that they were not interested in quoting the job or that they were too busy to consider taking on the job. If this is how they treat an inquiring customer I can only imagine what they might do if you actually hire them.
Description of Work: We contacted the company to ask them to give us a quote for fixing a problem with our electrical box, moving our appliances to new circuits, installing new outlets, rewiring our outdoor pole lamp, removing the light switch based outlets, and installing ceiling fixtures and pot lights in the bedrooms and common areas.

 + 0 moreJeremy was very enthusiastic about this project. He had great ideas about lighting design, advice for AV setup, and ways to keep costs down without sacrificing overall quality. He was able to offer creative suggestions, listen to concerns, and adapt his ideas to fit those concerns. The original plan did not include rewiring the basement. He pointed out a number of safety issues. Even though it added significantly to the cost, he brought the basement up to code, and we are glad we did it. Everything works better and it is safe. The lighting work ended up being significantly cheaper because he believed we did not need nearly as many lights as we originally planned. As I look at our completed project, he was right. The lighting is perfect. We also had a request to put the center channel speaker in an unusual location. He voiced his concern, but agreed to do what we wanted. Again, he was right. It sounded terrible. He moved the speaker to right spot (which required some rewiring) with no fuss. It sounds fantastic. I would highly recommend Sound Electric.
Description of Work: Rewired electric in basement to bring existing electric work up to code. Replaced flourescent lighting with recessed lighting and sconce lighting. Wired for speakers, cable, and computer network. Installed AV system components including in wall speakers, television mount and cable conduit.

He was thorough, thoughtful (from the placement of lighting and how it would affect the "feel" of the room to what kind of speaker wire to use in the home theater) and very passionate about his work - I've never met a service provider who was this passionate about his work. Every day before he left, he made sure to leave the house as clean or cleaner than before he arrived. Work was completed on time and on budget. Can't say enough good things about him and his work. Am definitely planning on using him again!
Description of Work: We had Jeremy install a home theater system, add recessed lighting to an old plaster ceiling that previously had no lights (big job) and do some other miscellaneous electrical work around the house.

 + 0 moreWe couldn't be happier with the service. The company is punctual, informative, friendly, and fair. The town inspector was thrown aback by the quality of the work product so that tells you something there.
Description of Work: Installed a 90 amp service box and wired a new two-car garage and addition. I didn't put a price for what we were charged since I don't think it's fair to do that but compared to other electricians he was very reasonably priced and there were plus free extras he gave us. This was a large project with a mud room, computer room, storage room and the electrical for a two-car garage; overhead lighting, outside lighting and plugs and he also rewired our basement for a very reasonable price.

 + -1 moreThe design of the wiring runs was very clever and avoided tearing into the garage ceiling below the kitchen. That factor saved a lot of extra labor. Conscientious and thoughtful work. Had many good suggestions for improvements. Work done was impeccable. Will most certainly hire him again! We took some photos of the wiring, before the wall was closed up, and can send them if requested....
Description of Work: Completely re-wire a remodelled kitchen. The job involved stripping out all the old wiring and replacing with code compliant new wires. This includes installation of 17 recessed ceiling lights, 20 wall switches, and 12 power outlets. In addition, installed power supplies for two ovens, an induction cook top, refrigerator, dishwasher and a dispose-all.

 + -1 moreHow did it go overall? In a word, fantastic! If you need electrical work done, done by a pro who pours his heart and soul into his work, at a fair price, give Jeremy a call. After the job was done, Jeremy promptly answered some questions I had. I'm waiting for him to get back to me regarding some generator options. l would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Contacted Jeremy from Sound Electric to perform a 100 amp to 200 amp service upgrade. Right from the start he was very responsive. Although he gave me a quote over the phone Jeremy said he be happy to come over to take a look and answer any questions. After Jeremy explained about the service upgrade, I mentioned that we were also considering getting a generator wired to the panel. Jeremy made several suggestions, but didn't try to sell anything. In fact, he said to take my time to really investigate the options. I selected Jeremy because he took the time to listen, didn't try to sell anything, and he seemed to have a real passion for making his customers satisfied rather than stuffing his wallet.

 + -1 moreJeremy came over to do an initial consultation, to review his plans and pricing. He didn't provide a written estimate, but his overall professionalism impressed us to go with him. It is clear that he takes pride in his work. What makes his work exceptional is that he pays attention to the quality of the work that isn't widely seen. In addition, he really knows what code requires of electrical work, and how he can perform an installation that really works. He corrected some errors done by previous electricians and homeowners, so we will be using him for our future electrical needs.
Description of Work: Jeremy worked two days finishing the installation of wiring throughout a 1,000 sf workshop. This included replacing the undersized subpanel, pulling wiring through conduit, and installing over two dozen receptacles. We called him back a few weeks later after the wiring to our A/C compressor outside of our house burst into flame.

 + 0 moreThe experience was great. Very friendly guy (maybe even a little too chatty), very knowledgable, honest, and pricing was fair. The projects took only a couple of hours and we didn't feel he tried to take advantage by charging an arm and a leg because he worked all over the house. He didn't look for problems that didn't exist and did just what we asked. We would call them again anytime, for any project, and even just for advice on projects.
Description of Work: We called this company looking to do a bunch of small projects (about 5 things) around our older home. We had a couple of outlets replaced, some wires disconnected from an old well pump, a switch rewired, and a bathroom fan installed.

 + 1 moreOverall, went very well. We are first time homeowners, and were a little overwhelmed by the amount of work to be done in the house. We have met quite a few contractors of various fields, and Jeremy was one of the best. He is not interested in ripping people off. He did a great job.
Description of Work: We purchased a house which needed and still needs more electrical updating. Jeremy installed a new subpanel in the basement, corrected overwired and improperly wired outlets both inside and outside, installed ground faults, installed a motion detector light, an overhead fluorescent light, a dimmer, and new thermostats and a timed outdoor light. The panel he installed was beautiful-it was like artwork. Wires super neat, and very precisely aligned in the box. He corrected some safety hazards for us along the way as they popped up, instead of just sticking to the job at hand, which I appreciated. Jeremy was diligent and efficient at his work. He worked very neatly, and was very pleasant and cheerful. He clearly is interested in doing the job right or not doing it at all. He made some great suggestions within regard to brands of thermostats and other hardware-all are working beautifully. He also helped us wire a receiver with some older equipment and a new TV. My husband considers himself knowledgeable in this area, and without Jeremy's help would not have been able to get all these components to work together. It took Jeremy 1/2 hour to do what my husband had been working on for 3 weekends in a row. Jeremy is very busy-and rightly so. We will be using his services again in the future for the rest of the upgrades.
