I called BLH Tree Service on Friday, 8/28/15. I spoke with Ben, we set up a time for him to come to my house for an estimate later that day. He was on time for the appointment and we agreed on a price. He said he would be able to do the job on 8/31 or 9/1. That was fine with me, all I asked was that he call me by Sunday, 8/30 to let me know which day it would be. He called and it was set up for 8/31. Ben, along with Tony and Justin arrived on time and began work right away. The tree to be cut was close to my house. Ben dropped it in pieces, with precision. He even did a great job not to destroy my hosta bed that was under the tree and assorted shrubs that were near it. Ben then used the bucket truck to trim the branches from a tree that were growing into the power lines to my house. Neat job. The last task was trimming branches from a 60 foot pine tree that was overgrowing my yard. Again, with the bucket truck, Ben did a great job. Everything was cleaned up, and looks great. Ben, Tony and Justin are a great group of guys, hard working and professional. I had BLH Tree Service at my house about 3 years ago, to do some tree work. They did such a great job then that I would not think about calling anyone else to do any tree work for me. Since the review I did on that job is long gone, I just wanted to say that Ben has the skill and equipment to figure out how to get a difficult job done at a reasonable cost. Something many other tree service companies could not offer me due to the unique circumstances about the job. I highly recommend BLH Tree Service.

Ben and his crew arrived on time and performed all contracted work (and then some) very expertly and efficiently. All debris from the job were cleaned up and my yard was left neater than when they arrived. Additionally, I observed him cleaning the gutters on my barn since he was already up next to it. He said he often does this for his customers because it's hard for them to get up there to do it. How unusual it is to see that kind of service? He answered all of my questions courteously and seems to truly care about his work. I will be calling him again next year for more work. I was very, very pleased with cost, professionalism, workmanship and his obvious respect for my property and my trees.

I had a large (maybe 60ft) tree in the back yard that I wanted down. I called a total of four tree services. One didn't bother to respond, one told me someone would be out in a day or so but nobody ever showed up, a third was supposed to stop out and didn't and the fourth, BLH, came out when he said he would and left a quote. I was able to set up day and a time for them to come in, they were a bit late but it wasn't a big deal for me. With all of their equipment on site they set up and began to remove the tree. In addition to the tree I hired them to cut, there were three snags from the storm last year and Ben ended up pulling them out and chipping them up, at no extra cost. A nice touch. I had to leave before they were finished so I paid Ben who assured me that everything would be gone and cleaned when I got back. True to his word, when I got home later that day, other than the stump there was little sign they had ever been there. In addition to the three snags they pulled out and chipped, they ended up taking a fourth one. There was no reason for them to have done anything extra but they did and that kind of service is seldom seen but greatly appreciated. Ben and his crew of 3 were friendly and professional. I would have no qualms about hiring them again and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Their price was a lot less than about 4 other companies that said the only way they could remove the willow tree was with a crane. I couldn't have any equipment in my back yard due to septic tank lines etc. and the tree was too far away from the driveway to reach with a bucket. BLH had a climber cut the willow down in about 10 foot chunks. They ripped the 10 foot logs in half, used a winch to drag the logs up to a giant wood chipper placed in the driveway and were able to feed them through it. It was unbelievable. My original estimate for the willow and the apple tree was $3,500. The day they showed up to do the work I asked what they would charge to remove 5 other trees. Ben gave me a very reasonable price of $500, so I had them do that too. Ben and his crew were great. It took them, as expected, a couple of days to get it all done. Very labor intensive. If I ever need tree work done they will be the first company I call.
Description of Work: Cut down the majority of a 100 ft willow tree, an entire 40 year old apple tree and 5 other trees of various sizes that were damaged in the storm of 10/29/11.

BLH responded after storm Alfred. The damage in CT was extreme and the tree services were busy. After giving an estimate I accepted it. Ben, the owner stated he would be back during the week to remove the branch hanging on my roof and would do the two trees later as other emergencies subsided. This was fine with me. After the week went by he had not come by and did not call. After three calls and messages left for the next week and a half I decided he did not want to do the job. This is not the way to run a business. Communication with customers is very important.

They were punctual, very courteous on the phone, and the price was in line with all other providers in my area (no better or worse). My complaint is that the wood was completely crusted in large amounts of ice and dirt, which becomes mud when you bring the wood into your home and makes starting a fire a real pain.
Description of Work: They delivered and stacked a cord of cut and seasoned firewood.

Three guys showed up at 9:00, as scheduled. They climbed, roped, limbed, and cut down the tree. Sawed to good parts to wood stove lengths, put the rest through their chipper (into their trucks), cleaned up very nicely and were done by noon. Couldn't have been better.
Description of Work: We had a big cherry tree which, over the years, had come to be growing at about a 45 degree angle. It was overhanging the swimming pools pump, filter, and electric service area and an important ornamental crab apple tree. And bringing in heavy equipment would have put the lawn and the pool water lines at risk. We hired them to take down the tree without damaging pool stuff, crabapple or lawn.
