Please, please, please stay away from this company. The customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. The system itself is a joke. Pay more if you have to but stay away from this company.
Description of Work: We are Guardian customers. They are a horrible, horrible company. Run, fast and far from this company. They have terrible customer service. We had a service technician come and try to figure out why our alarm kept going off. The technician arrived at my house and then spent the next 15 minutes in his truck. He came in the door, replaced a battery i had already replaced, and then told me I needed $1,000.00 of new equipment. He was done in 20 minutes but the company billed me for an hours service call $151.00 for twenty minutes of work. My other experiences with them have been equally frustrating and expensive. For example my system went in before my basement was finished. The technician who put in our system ran the wires every which way. When we went to finish our basement our contractor said all the alarm wires needed to move. We called Guardian who charged us a couple of thousand dollars to move the wires which they put in the first place. They ran wires in a manner that was easiest for them not thinking that they would need to be moved later. The cost for moving the wires was exorbitant. We negotiated a price reduction in return for signing a 5 year contract. It was the worst mistake ever. The system is constantly breaking down or alternatively sending out a full house alarm in the middle of the night - for no reason. The neighbors hate he alarm going off at 3:00am. We are constantly apologizing to our neighbors for the faulty alarm.

The installation of my alarm was free and the guy they sent out was great. They are really responsive. They ask you for the password and they're very professional at all times. We have never tripped the alarm without them picking up on it and we have tripped our alarm eight to ten times now.
Description of Work: The alarm system in my 2400 square foot home is monitored on a monthly basis by this company.

Unable to resolve this we called the Better Business Bureau and Guardian eventually dropped the charge. Fast forward to a lightning strike that blew out the alarm. Their estimate to replace 3 keypads and the mother board was $2226. This estimate was fully 3 times even the most expensive estimates we received from other companies. We gave notice of termination with them as per their agreement, and, as of this report, they continue to send bills for what would be a new contract. While they are capable of monitoring as well as any other company, I find their pricing predatory in nature due to it's lack of disclosure and their business ethics lacking. Not something one would want in an alarm company.
Description of Work: Monitoring of alarm system ($79 every three months), repair of system damage from lightning strike. In our new home there was an existing alarm. Guardian's monitoring fees were reasonable, and set up was free. They said they could change the name on our panel from the previous owners name to our name from their office. They could not. After numerous calls, they sent out a tech to "finish the set up" while he was here, my wife asked him about a faulted zone and whether it was because there was no magnet on this particular window. He said yes, and that he had a magnet in the truck which he put on. Our bill arrived with an $85 charge for this visit. When we inquired about this, the response was that they had been dispatched to fix a faulted zone. Obviously, they had gone back and changed the records so that they could bill us a $50 "dispatch" fee (never mentioned to us/not in contract) and $35 for time.
