Aug. 20, 2012The washer is still broken. The owner called and left a message claiming he had a heart attack and that he "just got back to work". Pleased on't ruin my reputation, I will pay you back the money, he said. Mmmh? A heart attack and 8 days later he is back to work sounding strong voiced? Ok, maybe, I am skeptical but figured I would give him the benefit of the doubt. Clealry, if it was a serious heart attack he could not have recovered so quickly and if it was a light heart attack, surely he was laying in his hospital bed bored and watching TV, and maybe it would have dawned on him to notify his waiting customers. It is not for me to judge. Yet, I expected that he would refund my money. Aug. 24, 2012The washer is still broken. Another week has gone by and he did not send a check. I called the owner and told him "Look, I gave you the benefit of the doubt, I trusted you would keep your word and again you stood us up." I also renewed my promise to post on Angie's list and this time made sure that he realized that I was not going to let him walk away with my $85.08 even if I had to expend much more time and effort. Send me a check by Tuesday, Aug. 28, I warned him again. Aug. 27, 2012A new service company comes in: Sears. They come the same day. Provide an instant computer reading. Issue a diagnosis right on the spot and an estimate. What Brookfield Appliance Service could not do, they do on the spot. We pay another $85 and go buy a new washer. Aug. 28, 2012The owner of Brookfield misses the deadline. No check arrives. He called and left a message that I should call him. I tried 4 times to call him back, each time no answer. I refused to leave more messages. He broke his word yet again. This man is an irresponsible, untrustworthy, lying and deceiving, dishonorable man. Trying to reason with him further would be futile.
Description of Work: Aug. 8, 2012 Jon Bingham, owner of Brookfield Appliance Service in Brookfield CT is an authorized Bosch service provider in my area. We contacted him to diagnose and repair our expensive front loading washer, which is less than 5 years old. The owner showed up as promised. He spent time running diagnostics and ran error code. My wife was present. He determined an error code but did not know the meaning of it. My wife then showed him a sheet that we had with error codes explained as part of out manual package. From that he deduced an diagnosis but was unsure.I arrived home just as he was leaving. He made a series of statements and promises:1. He was unsure of exactly the problem was. It could be the motor, the motor control or something else.2. He would call Bosch and "pick their brain".3. He would call us back in a day or so to let us know what it would cost to fix.4. Bosch makes terrible products, especially the large front end loader. He would "coach us" on how to deal with them and what to say. Aug. 13, 2012The washer is still broken. Having had no return call or news from the owner, I called him and asked him to update us on the answering machine. He never called. Aug. 15, 2012The washer is still broken. I called again and left another message, again asking to be called back. He never called. Aug. 17, 2012The washer is still broken. I called again and left another message this time I said "Ok, you are obviously not going to call us back. Just return our money and we will be done with it. " I also made clear that I would seek recourse by writing a review on Angies list, that I would report him to Bosch and so forth, unless I had my money back by Tuesday, Aug. 21.

Response from Brookfield Appliance Service LLC
In respond to a complaint from one of your Members, regarding my service. August 8, 2012- I provided services to the Member on their Bosch washer to diagnose the program he was having. I found that he needed a motor control board to correct the problem. I did not know the price of the motor control board at that time. I told him that I will call him about the cost of part as well as labor to repair the washer. Unfortunately, later that night I was having chest pain at approximately 9:30 pm. I was driven to the Danbury Hospital emergency room. I suffered a massive heart attack within 1 minute following my arrival. It is amazing that I am still alive considering what had taken place. Thank God to the competence and quick respond of the entire team and the leadership of the interventionist on duty at the time. I believe his name was Dr. Landau. I was told after by the doctors and nurses who took care of me during the course of my stay at Danbury Hospital, including three days at their ICU department that I actually went flat lined, meaning I died. Between being shocked five times and CPR intervention and having had my heart kept going to arrhythmia simultaneously for a period of eight minutes, it is amazing that I am still alive. I owe it to Danbury Hospital and their team of experts and medical professionals who did not give up on me. Quickly after I was rushed to the Danbury Hospital CATS lab for a angioplasty surgery to have a stent put in to correct a blockage in my hearty while hooked up to a respirator, which I had to endure for three days meeting their ninety minute goal to minimize the damage to the heart after a heart attack. Every second counted to accomplish this. ( CATS lab is the operation room where they perform angioplasty surgery). I stayed at the hospital for eight days. I was discharged on August 16, 2012. My cardiologist advised me not to do any kind of office work for two weeks and not to do any kind of lifting for a month. August 17, 2012- Against my doctor’s advise. I listened to my voice mail. I called the Member who he had left several messages about the washer and why I haven’t gotten back to him. He sounded very upset. I told him what had happened but to my dismay he did not seem to believe me. He threatened to report me to Angie’s List, and to the Better Business Bureau and Bosch, causing stress I do not need especially due to my condition. August 20, 20120 I called him but there was no answer. I left him a message asking him to call me back since I have all the information that he needs such as the cost of labor and part to repair the machine. August 14, 2012- According to my answering service. He called at 8: 30 pm after business hours. He left a message saying that he wants his money back and that he will follow through with his threat to report me to Angie’s List and the Better Business Bureau and Bosch. August 27, 2012¬- According to the copy of the complaint from Angie’s List, he hired another service company to look at the machine. They told him exactly what I would have told him had he returned my call during business hours eight days prior to the other company going out. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain my side of the story. If you need more medical information about me to support my response please let me know. It will not be a problem.
