The team at Professional Hardwood Flooring did a terrific installation of the floors in my home. Cristhian has extensive knowledge of hardwood flooring and patiently explained what work would be done while he first visited the site. During the work, he provided progress updates and also involved me in decisions concerning details of the job such as the types of transitions from one room to another. We finally scheduled Cristhian to come back and refinish the other half of the house that he refinished last year. We have a 7 room colonial in West Hartford. As I probably mentioned last year (I didn't look my old review up), Christhian has ALL of the qualities that you would look for in a craftsman. He's polite, professional, thorough, and honest. He takes pride in his work and makes sure you are 100% satisfied. If you call or email him, he responds in a timely manner. His price was very reasonable. Have him stop by for an estimate. I'd find it hard to believe that you wouldn't hire him once you meet him.

Christhian Macias and his crew have just finished renovating and refinishing floors in our 1912 home. This involved moving everything out of our house into a POD in the driveway and us leaving home for over two weeks. Because of a last minute change we decided on, our refrigerator and stove could not be put back into the kitchen for several weeks after we moved home. Even with all of that fuss and bother, we give our unreserved recommendation to this fine company. From the first quote Christhian gave us to the point of moving back the last stick of furniture, he was outstanding. He was flexible, careful, on time, on schedule and communicated anything we should know, explained each choice and step of the process and was highly responsive to any concerns or questions we had. We met only one of his crew, Steve, during the process, since we were out of town for most of the work. Steve was also pleasant and hardworking (and has a fabulous singing voice)! The floors in every room except the master bedroom were sanded, stained and given three coats of oil. This wasn’t a process I was familiar with, but the final product is beautiful. I chose a rich medium brown stain and the finished floors almost glow, avoiding the very shiny surfaces left by polyurethane coatings. These floors will wear better and be easier to repair in case of damage than other finishes. Christhian was even able to salvage the original wood floors in our kitchen and adjoining bathroom. The PHF team removed almost two inches of surfaces that probably spanned about 90 years of use: linoleum, glue, vinyl, and ceramic tile. Their careful repairs and refinishing left us with gorgeous floors reflecting the history of our home. I chose dustless sanding. I’m sure the crew cleaned before we returned home, but there was no dirt or dust left on window sills, baseboards, counters and the like. The house was perfectly clean. They attached felt protectors to every piece of furniture before replacing it. From beginning to end, Christhian made what could have been a grueling process easy for us. I cannot recommend him highly enough. His price was fair and he left us happier than we could have imagined with the final product. He is a perfectionist in the best sense of the word. We will truly miss our communications with him, and how often can you say that about a contractor? Don’t hesitate. If you are considering PHF for a project, large or small, you will not be disappointed.

Cristhian is the owner of Professional Hardwood Flooring and from the very first moment we spoke to him he was as professional, prompt and trustworthy as you would want anyone you invite into your home to be. He came to our home within 2 days of contacting him to give us an estimate. We live in Avon, CT in an older colonial built in 1960. Needless to say, the original hardwood floors looked like they had never been refinished since they were installed almost 60 years ago. Although the floors were worn, they were not damaged in any way except for the typical scuff marks. We also had some cut marks along the sides of the baseboard where a prior owner had cut out some wall-to-wall carpet. Those cuts we were most concerned about. Even with the issues that we could see, Cristhian’s estimate was very reasonable. We knew that it would be impossible to live in the house while the work was being done, so we booked the job with Cristhian as soon as we knew our summer vacation plans. We did all the hard labor of moving the furniture and wall hangings to a safe location in other areas of the home that have tiled floors. Two days before we were to leave for vacation, Cristhian came out to the house to inspect the floors to see if there were any possible repair areas that perhaps he did not see during the first visit. There were none so he was very confident that he would be able to complete the job within the week. As our home is a colonial, we wanted to maintain its 1960’s charm and we decided to have him apply the 3 coats of oil-based stain of the original color. The morning we left for vacation Cristhian and his associate arrived exactly at the agreed time and began to seal off the areas of the house that did not have hardwood. As we have a garage and were taking one of the cars, we told Cristhian that he could store his equipment and other items in the garage if he needed to. We then got in the car and drove away! One week later we arrived home to some SPECTACULAR floors! We could not believe how “soft” the wood felt under our feet. We had no idea that wood could feel so nice. Of course, there was some residual odor from the stain but we opened all the windows and allowed our house fan 2 days to continue to circulate the air and remove the smell. I have a pretty sensitive nose and things like perfume give me headaches. I had NO such reaction to the odor left by the oil-based stain. We just completed our payment to Cristhian and I insisted on taking several of his business cards. I already have 2 more jobs for him with very good friends who need their floors refinished as well. We have absolutely no reason NOT to give Professional Hardwood Flooring an A+ rating! Well done Cristhian and thank you so much!

Cristhian Macias did a superb job with prefinished hardwood floor installation in 900 sf in our home. He also refinished 2 sets of stairs. The removal of carpet, the installation and the refinishing was all done in 4 days. Cristhian was very attentive to detail, and solved some tricky floor joint issues with the fireplace and kitchen tile. PHR was the only place that offered the prefinished option, saving the total removal of all furniture. They were able to move the big furniture pieces around the room to finish the job. I found them very professional and very responsive to any and all questions I had. The finished project is beautiful!!

We contracted for having a DUSTLESS hardwood floor refinishing of our first floor (about 1,500 square feet.). The contract included moving everything (furniture, electronics, etc.) out of the first floor and returning it after the refinishing was complete. So, how did it go? PHF kept to the agreed upon schedule that included three phases: moving furniture out, sanding and apply 4 coats of poly urethane, and then moving everything back in. The entire process took 10 days. We left town to visit our daughter while the work was being done. The moving phases went smoothly (we were home for the moving) and they were very careful with our belongings. They took the time to put felt on all items that touched the floor, thereby helping eliminate scratching from sliding furniture around. PHF communicated daily via instant messaging, including sending photos, to let us know their progress. When we returned home the floors looked great! The dustless process was very effective--only a little touch up cleaning was required. By comparison, we had the floors refinished 12 years ago and didn't pay for the dustless option-- we had major cleaning to do back then. This was our second time using PHF. They installed hardwood floors on parts of our second floor several years ago. Our overall experience was great. They were pleasant to work with, did professional work, were on time and on budget. Mr. Macias and the PHF team performed hardwood refinishing in our home. We were very impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. From the first contact to the very end, we were well informed. The service was provided on time and on budget, and we are very pleased with the results. The transition between rooms refinished and rooms not refinished is absolutely seamless, and the quality of work is outstanding. We upgraded to the "dust-free" system which amazingly kept the rest of our house (including adjoining rooms) entirely free from dust. We will absolutely be using them in the future. Highly recommend.

We had called Christian to look at our floors as a previous company did a horrible job refinishing them. Christian came out right away and took his time to understand what was needed to correct the problem. He gave us a straight forward opinion and what the process should be to correct and finish the floors. We set a timeline and he completed the job as scheduled with excellent results. His communication throughout the job was terrific and we are very happy with PHF LLC. We will be doing additional work in the house in the future and will be calling him back. BTW - love the matte finish.

Christian and his team did a fabulous job for us refinishing & repairing floors in our living room, dining room & hallway/stairs. They gave a thorough and accurate estimate and they were very responsive to all inquiries/concerns. They started and ended on time and communicated well throughout. The floors look AMAZING! Christian was great. Drove from West Hartford to Glastonbury during afternoon rush hour traffic to evaluate the job. He was punctual, polite and wrote a very fair quote on the spot. He salvaged our hardwood floors that had been damaged from a previous DIY refinish and did an outstanding job. He has my full confidence.

They were knowledgeable about what they were doing and provided me with all of the information needed to take care of our floors after the fact.
