I called Cousins to ask about an estimate and there were out the same day to look over my situation. Steve gave me an accurate run down of what I would need (I had already researched), and I had an estimate in hand the day after. The original date for the install was missed due to a major snow storm, and rescheduling was not a quick as I had hoped. They showed up an hour late which wasn't too bad, but when they ran late I was told they needed to come back the next day. This is the only issue I had, and it's really a small one, but since the work did take a full day+ anyone else should know to expect 1+ days. The first day when they arrived and we discussed what they would do. I had shut off the water already so that the water wouldn't be hot. I also wanted them to remove/replace a valve near the boiler that had started leaking. Removing the old equipment came first and was fairly quick. I could hear the pipes draining from upstairs (I worked from home during the job). Installation of the new equipment took the bulk of the time. They had quite and array of expertise, working on the concrete to run some of the oil line through the floor, running wires and hooking up the electric to the boiler. I went downstairs to check on their progress several times, and they were always glad to discuss what they were doing and answer any questions I had. They asked me a few times to confirm that they had done things as I expected them to. The whole qualify of the job was great. At the end of the first day there was no insulation and some of the pipes sagged a bit, but I had heat in the house again (temp outside was around 30F, so during the day it started getting colder inside. Also, when sawing the concrete floor they sent a cloud of dust over the basement and into the house. I'm not sure if there is a better way to do this, but I wish I had been warned. The second day they were only here a couple hours, and spent time checking for leaks (they said they found two, although I never noticed any), strapping up the pipes, and insulating the pipes. In the end the job looks great. I have no trouble recommending their work.
Description of Work: I had an old boiler that was 20+ years old. The pressure would get too hot and so the relief valve was leaking. Rust all over the boiler showed where it had leaked previously and been repaired. Oil bills were high. I researched more efficient boilers and found slant fin eutectic were not too pricey but a bit more efficient that the standard boiler you can pick up at retail. They replaced my old boiler, the old expansion tank, did the duct work to the chimney, added a new intake duct, replaced my old overhead oil line with a crush-proof above/inground line, and insulated most of the new work. Many new valves were put in place so that any part can by easily updated without shutting the whole system down. They redid some of the electrical too, and added a new shutoff switch.

We tried several oil companies in the area but once we switched to Cousins we have not used anyone else. Over the last 3 years they have handled one hot water heater replacement, several rounds of annual maintenance on the boiler, two piping leaks, and most recently issues with the ignition system. We have always been pleased. Their technicians are friendly and very respectful of our home. They are very punctual (sometimes early) and they work hard. We called once on a holiday weekend when we had an emergency and the tech was super-helpful and nice about it, and told us what we could do to safely avoid a weekend service call. The techs do quality work and don't take shortcuts. When our new water heater started leaking less than a year after they installed it, they arranged for the manufacturer's rep to come check it with them and provided us with a new installed water heater at absolutely no cost to us. We feel like Cousins really stands behind the products they sell and install. We buy our oil from them most of the time; we have never been on their budget billing plan but the market rates are in line with other local oil companies.
Description of Work: General service and maintenance of our oil boiler and water heater. We also purchase our heating oil from Cousins.

I've been using them for 12 years. They are always very responsive and they take care of stuff. This was actually the second time I used them for this. They did the work 2 weeks ago and it started leaking. They fixed it and didn't ask any questions and there was no charge to come back.
Description of Work: I used Cousins Fuel Oil, Heating & Cooling to put a new pump on the oil burner.
