Our family is very grateful to have hired L&J Pools to put in a brand new inground pool and patio for us this year. L&J’s job performance was superb on all accounts.. We had a very small space to squeeze in a pool, but they got the job done! The L&J team were very hard workers, spent days in the high heat, rain and storms working on our pool and patio. They were committed from the start and worked with us every step of the way, even the last minute changes we wanted to make. They were very good at explaining the why’s, how’s and what’s next as well as educated us on how to make better decisions on things. Needless to say, they were very patient with us. They gave us a timeline that was met and always were there to answer our questions. After the ground settled around the pool, they came back to complete the patio and they both look gorgeous. Their Management team were also very hands on and made us feel comfortable knowing they were overseeing and working the pool/patio together with their great team. Jim Jr. was extra attentive, very flexible and very customer friendly.

In all of my 58 years have I ever had dealing with a more incompetent money grubbing dishonest company. I signed up for a one season contract to maintain our pool. They did not visit the pool to determine it's requirements. They charged me a standard contract fee and charged it all up front without telling me so. The pool was opened fine and things were ok for a while. The service man was so unprofessional that he scared my wife. I chose to let that go and give him a chance. By mid July the pool started turning green despite regular visits. The service man tested the water with his on site tester and could not make any determinations (I learned at the end of the season that they had a much more scientific testing lab back at the store which was never used) They claimed that it was an unusual, persistent and nasty algae. They came out many times using expensive chemicals to attempt to deal with it. What I was not told was that these visits were not in the contract and would be billed additionally. Also, whenever the serviceman arrived he would spend much of the time on his cell phone. I was not told that each visit had a set time limit and so the way I see it I was billed for a good deal of extra time while the service man was on the phone. The problem persisted and the owner, Jim Fiorilla, told me I needed a new filter. $1,100.00 later we had a new filter but the problem did not go away. My wife's sister and nieces came for a visit from California in August and would not get into the pool's green water. Somehow the season ended and the pool was closed. I took time to recollect the experience before going down the their office to talk with the owner, Jim Fiorilla and his wife Laura. I recounted what I have written above. We looked over the invoices and after listening to Jim blame any number of the problems on extraneous things,i.e. the green algae on our contaminated towels, he said that there was nothing he could do to mitigate the charges that ran to $6,000.00. When I asked that it would only be fair to return the money for the filter that was not need he offered me $500.00 and said that he would send someone out to remove the filter leaving me without a filter at all. You can imagine how I felt. This year I engaged the Glen Gate pool company to handle the pool. They did a flawless job and because they knew what they were doing they were able to charge me far less. Quality is cheap as they say. I understand the L&J pools build in ground pools. I can not imagine letting them onto my property with heavy equipment.
Description of Work: The purported service was to maintain our pool for last season by visiting weekly to clean and add chemicals to the water. The contract was to include opening and closing the pool.
